Recently we have been seeing reports of poultry being smuggled into Vietnam from China.

As a result of this, there has been a new clade of H5N1 that has had no effective vaccinations against it and it has spread rapidly through several districts in Vietnam as a result.

Today we see that Vietnam has now developed a new vaccine that is effective against this new H5N1 strain and so far testing is proving positive.

Vietnam develops vaccine for toxic bird flu virus
At a meeting of the Steering Board for Bird Flu Prevention on October 2 in Hanoi, it was announced that Vietnam has now developed a vaccine that can control the new highly toxic strain of bird flu virus.

Pham Van Dong, head of the Department of Animal Health, said that health officials tested the newly developed vaccine on a flock of chickens and the test results were positive
