Swiss Authorities have blocked the use of a flu vaccine produced by NOVARTIS, following Itallian findings of unusual particles present in the vaccines.

Swissmedic, the Swiss authority control and approval of drugs, today ordered the preventive suspension of the supply of flu vaccine from Novartis company, after the impurities detected in doses used in Italy.

In a statement, Swissmedic said it had been informed of the situation by the Italian Medicines Agency (AIFA), which has banned the import and use of vaccines from Novartis.
