Hi gang, and thanks for the concern! I did a little renovation and will probably do a bit more soon. here is HK saying a qtine is the only way in the end, somethhing I mentioned yesterday?tomato

Early quarantine best way to avert Sars-like outbreak: health chief
Swift isolation of suspected cases is at the core of the government's strategy to prevent another epidemic, the health minister says..
..."This is a lesson we learned from Sars," said Ko, who was at the forefront of the battle as the Hospital Authority's acting chief executive at the time. "We must cut off the transmission chain at a very key moment to stop suspected cases from spreading."
The government might use hotels or holiday campsites to isolate people should the need arise to undertake a large-scale quarantine at the community level, he said....

I just noticed Trefish's blog has been removed. Anyone know why? I followed his blog for months. Good stuff he would post. Kind of concerned. Did he take it down himself or is this just another case where he was getting to close to the truth and it was deleted, terminated, banned, etc.

Hi UK anon.

I suppose its good to be back on familiar territory, but the fishing trip was a nice distraction too.

Thank you so much for holding the Fort so competently, you know that I do rely on you and of course you never let anyone down.

Its almost embarrasing for me to ask, because I know just how much effort you will dedicate to the task and it is far too much for me to expect.

But, having said that, I also know that each and every regular reader here also appreciates your exceptional efforts, which means that all I can do is to again offer, on behalf of all who visit here our collective appreciation of your exceptional detective skills and dedication to caring for humanity as you have consistently demonstrated.

You are a gem of unique quality, and you are appreciated.

THANK YOU.

Also I have to recognise the excellent works and effort that Treyfish undertakes with his web site.

Here is a person that has been at the Coal Face for quite some time.

He has a very highly developed sense of what to do to eek out information that just really wants not to be for public consumption, but his persistance and inate sense of the "out of place" makes him an exceptional detective, but also an excellent sounding board to obtain a reliable "feeling' for what moves and shakes wherever he takes an active interest.

Simply put, his instincts are well worth following and I can only again re-iterate my previous assertions that all readers here would do well to check his dedicated site on a daily basis for whatever news he can offer from his extensive searching.

Clearly everyone will benefit from a daily look at his fresh info, so please follow his link and follow his work, it is important and relevant.

Here is a link to Treyfish's site.

You know...Ive never been comfortable with being anything other than just the bloke next door.

Having said that I think that we all contribute to making an exceptionally great and caring group, and all I do is share a passion that is driven to care for and attempt to protect other people, no more and no less.

Anybody could be doing this, I am not special.

I just want to care and make some small difference and maybe a tiny positive contirbution to my fellow friends, wherever they might be.

So having again said that, I will simply say thank you for your comments, but they are missplaced.

What I do is just a simple calling that I have discovered that just might make a modest difference somewhere and sometime, but most importantly to someone.

Please Im just not good at flattery, you are sweet and the comments are too, but lets direct them to the real movers and shakers, the heroes that really do make the practical differences, they are always the ones that are never properly recognised for their exempliary services to humanity, and if anything I only wish I had the chance for a better education that would have allowed me to be a part of their amazing work.

And when more energy needs to be expended then there are those who are not be as humane as we are here, and with those there is the need to make effort to call to account for their reckless treatment of human life and for which they need to be isolated and removed from where their influence can act.

This we can do and I for one will never relent in that fight, nor will I apolagise for my stance in this regard.

It is the role of decent people to care and protect, no matter the cost and I gladly will face off with any person that has an inappropriate attitude to their position and duty of care, I care not the personal cost.

Right is simply right and wrong is just that.

Recent fatalities in China from H5N1 have had genetic sequencing done that give some insights that are somewhat disturbing, indicating possible drifts towards H2H transmission.

The absence of matching poultry sequences, and the close relationship between all three human sequences, which had a more than 1 year gap between the 2012 isolate and the two from 2013, raise serious concerns over surveillance or human to human transmission.

A clarification on poultry exposure and the H5 status and sequence of such exposures would be useful.

The novel coronavirus that has now emerged in the UK is being monitored.

This bug is demonstrating the capacity for H2H transmission, where it has done so within a family setting, but fortunately has yet to be seen transmitting to casual contacts, though this really isnt well tested at this time.

Update on family cluster of novel coronavirus infection in the UK - [19 Feb 2013]:

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) continues its investigations into a family cluster of novel coronavirus infections in the UK. Three members of the same family have all tested positive for novel coronavirus. Two of these had no history of recent travel, suggesting that transmission has occurred in the UK.

One person has sadly died. This patient had an underlying condition that may have made them more susceptible to respiratory infections. The 1st patient in this cluster, who had recent travel history to Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, is still receiving treatment. The 3rd case, who had a mild illness, has recovered.

Cambodia continues to register more fatalities due to H5N1 infection.

This unfortunate infant is their eighth fatal case this year.

It has been associated with poultry deaths in the victims village.

The 8th human case of avian influenza A(H5N1) virus infection has been confirmed in a 20-month-old boy from Ang Romduol village, Angkor Chey commune, Angkor Chey district in Kampot province. He was confirmed positive for influenza A(H5N1) virus infection on Tue 19 Feb 2013 by L'Institut Pasteur du Cambodge.

He developed fever and a runny nose on 6 Feb 2013 and was initially treated by a local private practitioner. His condition worsened, and he was admitted to Kantha Bopha Hospital on 18 Feb 2013 with fever, cough, and dyspnea and died on 19 Feb 2013. There is evidence of recent deaths among poultry in the village.

Re: <<Advancing Bird Flu-H5N1...Now following MERS and Ebola approaching PANDEMICS>>>
The new novel coronavirus may have infected another person in the UK.

There is much discussion on several aspects of the behavour of this novel coronavirus within this article and it is suggested that readers do take the time read it all.

One thing that is obvious is that our current understanding of this virus is highly limited as is what it has also revealed to us so far of the many facets of its characteristics.

I sense that this bug is highly developed and highly capable of diverse ways to transmit and affect people in varied ways, all of which will make it a formidable opponent to confront and control.

If it can transmit from human to human relatively easily and also only mildly affect the health of some individuals then it has developed an ability that will permit it to spread extensively around the globe without our full appreciation of its movement, and with no known medical interventions available for use in the fight against it, humanity could easily be facing a beast perhaps overall more deadly than even H5N1.

We have much to learn yet and it is concerning that the WHO isnt demonstrating a more cautious approach to this new pandemic threat.

I am also accutely aware that in the not too distant furure we will again be witnessing the massive annual pilgrimage to Mecca by millions of people and right into the very heart of where this virus has its still yet to be discovered reservoir.

This will present an horrific senario for transmision and dispersion around the globe that will see a complete breakdown with any and all attempts at limiting such a spread, then will follow the inevitable disaster of unimaginable suffering of people with no effective medical assistance to help with their suffering.

That would be a horror story of incomprehensible proportions and again I get back to the WHO, doing too little while they have some chance if only they would act now.

Do they want this bug to spread?... is a nagging thought that I find hard to shake.

There may have been a 4th case in UK coronavirus family cluster: WHO
-----------------------------------------------------------
British authorities announced Tuesday [19 Feb 2013] that another person has died from infection with the new coronavirus as European scientists revealed the new virus easily infects the cells of the airways of the human lung.

The current cluster of novel coronavirus cases in Britain may have included another infection, a World Health Organization official says

We recently reported two cases of H5N1 being detected in China, with one case tragically being fatal.

News now at hand is reporting that the second of these cases has also tragically succumed to this infection.

China reports year's 2nd fatal case of bird flu
--------------------------------------
A man in southwestern China has died of bird flu [avian A(H5N1) virus infection], health authorities said Saturday [?], becoming the 2nd fatality from the H5N1 virus this year.

The 31-year-old died in hospital in the city of Guiyang on Friday [?], the Guizhou province health department said in a statement, adding that no other human cases of avian flu had been reported in the province. Another city resident, a 21-year-old woman, died from the virus earlier this month. The Xinhua news agency said both of them had come into close contact with birds but it was not known if the cases were related

This next article reveals that H1N1 swine flu is quite widespread throughout Europe this flu season where it has travelled to Russia and has regrettably caused the deaths of two people there.

Laboratory analysis of two patients who died last week in hospital from complications of flu in the northern Russian city of Murmansk, revealed that the group belongs to the H1N1 virus, commonly known as "swine flu", reported the news agency Interfax.

More than 8,000 cases of influenza were reported officially in Murmansk between 11 and 17 February.
