23 Mar 2013 09:00

Abid Hussain, of Winson Green, lost battle against Sars-like bug in hospital on Tuesday
Birmingham grandad Abid Hussain has become the UK’s second victim to the new Sars-like bug Coronavirus.

The tragedy comes as Mr Hussain’s wife and daughter were in Pakistan after burying his son Khalid, 38, who had also fallen victim to the killer disease.

The dad-of-two, in his 60s, of Winson Green, was being treated at Wythenshawe Hospital, in Manchester, and seemed to be improving.

But he took a turn for the worse and lost his battle on Tuesday.

His funeral was held at a mosque in Small Heath, on Wednesday and his body has now been taken to Pakistan for burial.

Close friend Abdul..

Growing H5N1 Transmission Chain in Indonesia Raises Concerns

Recombinomics Commentary
May 22, 2006

The growing H5N1 bird flu transmission in Medan, Indonesia has raised transmission and transparency concerns. The cluster has now grown to eight, and seven members of the cluster have died. H5N1 has been confirmed in all except the index case and the disease onset dates indicate there have been three generations of human-to-human (H2H2H) or possibly four generations (H2H2H2H).

The index case developed symptoms on April 27. There was a family barbeque on April 29 and other family members began showing symptoms in early May. This gap between the disease onset date of the index case and additional family members indicates human-to-human transmission (H2H). Seven family members developed symptoms, and six were confirmed to be H5N1 positive. However, the last member to develop symptoms died on May 13 (the index case died on May 4 followed by deaths on May 9, 10, 12, 13, 14). That family member was the nephew of the index case and may have been infected by other family members, which would represent H2H2H.

Today his father died and has been H5N1 confirmed, suggesting the transmission chain has grown to H2H2H2H, which would represent the longest H5N1 transmission chain to date.

The cluster was described in the WHO update of May 18. The update described the index case and seven family members who had symptoms, including the uncle who is still alive and the nephew who had tested negative. Although the disease onset date fro the index case was given, the update withheld the disease onset dates for the family members.

Moreover, the update failed to mention the father of the nephew who died on May 13. The uncle had symptoms, had been given Tamiflu, and had left the hospital. He refused further treatment and died. However, this travel into the community prior to his death raises concerns about additional transmissions. The WHO update indicate that there was no evidence of spread beyond the immediate family, but did not reveal the release of the uncle and potential spread. The status of additional family members with early symptoms remains unclear.

The spread of H5N1 across three or four generations of infections is cause for concern. Sequences of H5N1 from the patients has been said to contain no mutations, but there is no indications that the sequences will be released. Sequences from only one Indonesian patient has been released. The sequence was deposited on August 1, 2005, but was withheld from the public until March 26, 2006. It has a novel cleavage site, which is shared by most of the sequestered human sequences from Indonesia. At least one sequence has a wild type cleavage site, but it has not been released. The sequences in this cluster would significantly increase the number of H5N1 human sequences from Indonesia, and should be done as soon as accuracy of the sequences has been determined. The other H5N1 sequences at the private respiratory should be released immediately.

The withholding of disease onset dates and the status of the family member who died today reduces credibility and dictates release of the sequestered sequences.

On another thread today on GLP there is the story of a virus vial that has gone missing from a lab in a research facility in The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.

The link didnt provide much detail, but further searching has turned this more informative information up.

Why is it that "officials" always say that there is nothing to worry about?

Do they have some godly powers that provides them with information that the rest of us arent privey to?

Actually, there is every reason to be highly afraid of what has happened to this missing vial, hopefully it was destroyed, but what if it wasnt?

What if it was conveniently removed during the mentioned clean up and has been traded by some poor student to someone with bad intent.

That facility needs to have its funding pulled and it needs to be mothballed, management sacked and any further research moved to a more responsibly operated facility.

A good demonstration to all others of the consequences that await other irresponsible and lax attitudes at facilities and places that simply cannot ever be tolerated.

GALVESTON, Texas (AP) - Officials say a vial containing a virus that can cause hemorrhagic fever has gone missing from a research facility in Galveston, but say there's no reason to believe there's a threat to the public.

Break...

The medical branch says the virus, native to Venezuela, is transmitted only through contact with Venezuelan rats. It is not believed to be able to survive in U.S. rodents or to be transmitted person-to-person.

This article again reflects the unexplained actions of the World Health Organization which all point to inhibiting and blocking the flow of valuable information on the novel coronavirus.

Why is the WHO doing this?

Its is abundantly clear that these actions only contribute to the risks of this emerging disease developing to a point where we wont be able to effectively control it.

Is this a deliberate attempt by the World Health Organization to actively promote a pandemic.

It certainly appears so!

The people who have made instituded these decisions can be considered to be murderers if this disease does go pandemic.

I wonder if they might be required to face charges of crimes against humanity.

It would seem to be appropriate.

UK Beta2c Coronavirus Index Case Dies
Recombinomics Commentary 16:15
March 23, 2013

Birmingham grandad Abid Hussain has become the UK’s second victim to the new Sars-like bug Coronavirus.

The above comments described the death of the index case for UK coronavirus cluster. He had been hospitalized since January 30. He was initially diagnosed as an H1N1pdm09 case, since he was PCR positive, but further testing based on a failure to respond to treatment, identified an nCoV and sequencing of a clinical sample confirmed the close similarity with nCoV sequences from the first two confirmed cases. His sequence (England2) was greater than 99.9% identical with the consensus sequence. A similar level of identity was also seen for the other nCoV case currently hospitalized in the UK (he has been hospitalized since October).

Re: <<Advancing Bird Flu-H5N1...Now following MERS and Ebola approaching PANDEMICS>>>
This next commentary could be very enlightening.

Here we might be getting a better glimpse at what is really happening in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and in relation to the coronavirus that has been an issue in the general region.

It is entirely believable and understood that authorities might want to be down playing the extent of the coronavirus activity in the region.

There are many very sensitive implications that are quite obvious as to why these "initial" reactions to the presence of a new and potentially damaging disease emerging in this region might be desired to be downplayed.

Especially when they will have huge impacts on a very select and culturally sensitive and very significant group of people that this can and probably will impact on.

But in the greater picture, is it not better to put national, commercial and pride interests to the background in preference to protecting those souls who would make such a huge commitment and sacrifice to observe such an intimate and personal journey to observe their faith.

Surely it would be a far greater tradgedy to expose these people to such a high risk of becoming seriously ill or dying, rather than encouraging them to delay their pilgrimage of a year in order for this coronavirus to run its course, contained, and to naturally burn out leaving a far safer future not just for the pilgrims that might be affected first, but the certain ongoing affect to the rest of the world as well.

If these are to thought processes that have been at work so far, lets hope that the better and more common sense approach can and will be considered as a more responsible and logical approach to follow from this point forward.

And again, if these have been the concerns that have been responsible for the World Health Organizations actions in relation to how they have handeled this matter to date, then they surely should be condemned to the absolute greatest extent for being so pathetic in their leadership and inappropriate attitudes that would clearly favor selective favoritism rather than responsibly facing their real duties and working to find a suitable and satisfactioy solution to the problem, without compromising the safetey of any human alive.

If they are able to do that now after all this time, then couldnt they have done the same a year ago and saved many lives and prevented great suffering.

Most Mild Beta2c Coronavirus Cases In Jeddah KSA
Recombinomics Commentary 19:30
March 24, 2013

The Ministry of Health has announced more than once that SARS is under control, and it looked like a normal flu, and that most of these cases were in the city of Jeddah. explained Health Minister Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabiah, in an earlier statement that the virus "Corona" under control, pointing out that "disease transient and not cause for concern and a threat to the pilgrims. "

The above translation, indicating that nCoV is widespread in Saudi Arabia (KSA) , but concentrated in Jeddah, signals a significant spread of mild cases. The comments by the Ministry of Health in Saudi Arabia are much like the comments by China in early 2003 regarding SARS-CoV in Guangdong Province.

The KSA MoH are being widely reported in local media and Jordan has expressed concerns over spill over by 4000 expected pilgrims crossing from Saudi Arabia to Jordan. KSA is maintaining that these cases are mild and patients are recovering without treatment.

Sorry Uk anon, I didnt see you posting at the same time.

It appears we are spotting some of the same stories.

This link you just posted, if you read right through it just happens to mention the Venezuelan

hemorrhagic fever, that was in that "missing" vial spoken about by us both today...coincidence?

Too convenient, would be my reaction.

The previous outbreaks that your linked post above mentions in this region is such a specific and relatively rare viral cause would really be screaming artificial and not natural interferance, shouls it re-emerge any time soon.

You are right UK anon, there is a very bad "feel" to all this activity in this region.

I do not like where all the mostly unrelated incidents and actions seem to be pointing.
