In an earlier post on Professor Nimam's web site, linked below, we see more commentary clearly showing frustration with the various aspects of disgusting and culpable behavour from the World Health Organization and also linking the Saudi Arabian Health Authorities with these unforgivable actions.

Alarming Beta2c Coronavirus Cluster In Al-Ahsa Saudi Arabia
Recombinomics Commentary 11:15
May 2, 2013

Saudi Arabia said five more people have died of a deadly new virus from the same family as SARS, and two other people were in intensive care.

The seven cases were discovered in al-Ahsa governorate in the Eastern Province, the Saudi news agency SPA quoted the Saudi Health Ministry as saying in a statement late on Wednesday.

Break...

Detail is lacking, but the large number of cases strongly suggests human transmission between contacts. The human transmission is also supported by the lack of detail.

Break...

The large number of deaths also indicates the reporting of these cases has been delayed, and the failure of WHO to provide detail is alarming.

Break...

Apparently, detail on disease onset dates and the relationship between the seven cases is long overdue, as is information on the number of additional suspect cases under investigation.

In his last post today Rickster made mention of how some Chinese Researchers had been experimenting with lethal viruses and successfully creating H2H transmissable viruses from H5N1 and H1N1.

Here is the headline to that article...

'Appalling irresponsibility': Senior scientists attack Chinese researchers for creating new strains of influenza virus in veterinary laboratory

Link here...

[link to www.independent.co.uk]

Also link to another GLP thread that broke this news all credit to the OP.

Thread: SCIENTISTS' ALARM: NEW STRAIN OF KILLER FLU CREATED IN CHINESE LAB... Hybrid virus...

And some very enlightening content taken from the article linked above.

The controversial study into viral mixing was carried out by a team led by Professor Hualan Chen, director of China’s National Avian Influenza Reference Laboratory at Harbin Veterinary Research Institute.

Reckless stupidity on the part of Professor Hualan Chen.

My comments.

The study, which was carried out in a laboratory with the second highest security level to prevent accidental escape

Only the "second highest" bio security level.

If that is not the most reckless and unprofessional actions that could ever be imagined.

The professor should be stripped of all qualifications and jailed for life.

“It’s a fabulous piece of virology by the Chinese group and it’s very impressive, but they haven’t been thinking clearly about what they are doing. It’s very worrying,” Professor Wain-Hobson said.

“The virological basis of this work is not strong. It is of no use for vaccine development and the benefit in terms of surveillance for new flu viruses is oversold,” he added.

It looks like those qualified to offer an opinion also agree.

Its news like this that absolutely bring into total dissrepute any good works and leadership that the Chinese might have recently achieved.

One can only hope that all samples of that abominable research created has been very carefully and totally destroyed, and that the research papers are also locked down and never see to light of day.

I guess that its fair to say that I might be in the mood for a bit of a stouch today!

But, oooooh, is it me or is the world just disintergrating into a pool of blithering idiots.

Here we have a quick shot article that lays claim to the fact that the decline in numbers of new cases of H7N9 in China is the result of restrictions being placed on live poultry trade in the locations most affected.

So, for the thinking person, we might consider that making that irresponsible claim without any supporting information will directly affect the legal trade in essential foods, and risk driving trade into the far worse, black market.

If there is a problem with poultry it needs to be found, not hidden and made worse by hiding it in a black market.

Next, as this virus has such a high media profile these days, perhaps peoples behavours may have changed sufficiently to bring about a one or two day reprieve in reports of new infections.

Things like simple handwashing and other hygenic practices I am certain will be something that has changed in China in recent times.

Maybe the World Health Organization has been successful in again managing to have information censored, thus disgising the real picture.

The list goes on.

Honestly, one can only hope that these two bit reporters starve to death long before they might actually put to print something of real importance.

Where is the real journalism that we used to respect and look forward to consuming?

This junk reporting deserves to lay on a toilet floor waiting for its most appropriate use to called on.

I do hope that Bernadette Carreon has a real day job doing something else, perhaps carrying useless newspapers to toilet stalls!

Saudi SARS...

Thats right.

I am giving this coronavirus a name one that hopefully will inflict shame on the Saudi Arabian Authorities for their complicit and underhanded activities with this horrendously dangerous potential pandemic coronavirus.

So, I repeat the term again, just so everyone gets a good hold on it.

Its called...Saudi SARS

go it...

Saudi SARS.

And once again...

SAUDI SARS.

reports finally managed to get air time in the more independant and credible AlJaseera news when its activity was eventually made public.

One wonders what those idiots responsible for this censorship will have to say when it becomes known that their actions were the direct result of this coronavirus becoming a widespread and deadly killer should that eventuate.

It certainly wont be through good management if it doesent go pandemic.

It will be the result of pure good luck and have nothing to do with good basic medical practice.

I honestly hope that the muslim community spread serious messages of caution to all muslims that it might be of utmost importance for them to delay any plans for a pilgrimage to Mecca until the full extent of the dangers in the region become known.

It would be a tradgedy of unimaginable proportions for unnessary risks to be taken with any human lives simply because some missguided fools made a bad judgement call as is the current situation.

No religion demands that its followers take unnessary and deadly risks with either their own lives nor those close to them.

I do hope that this message is taken in the spirit of genuine concern for the complete welfare of all people.

I do not discriminate on religous beliefs, all men are equal, and as adults, the choices they make are theirs to freely make.

I only ever ask that those choices are made with the best information available.

Five die of SARS-like virus in Saudi Arabia

Health ministry says it is taking "precautionary measures" with two more people being treated in intensive care unit.
Last Modified: 02 May 2013 08:31

Saudi Arabia's health ministry has said that five Saudis have died from a new SARS-like virus and that two more are being treated in an intensive care unit.

In a statement cited by the Saudi SPA agency late on Wednesday, the ministry said that all the deaths occurred in the Ahsaa province in the oil-rich eastern region of the kingdom, according to the AFP news agency.

Known as novel coronavirus or hCoV-EMC, the virus was first detected in mid-2012 and is a cousin of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), which triggered a scare 10 years ago when it erupted in east Asia, leaping to humans from animal hosts.

Well back to...

SAUDI SARS.

well the saga of SAUDI SARS...actually.

It appears that someone is taking notice of what is being said.

This next peice of information appears to be pointing to the release of information on the latest cases of SAUDI SARS that has been witheld with all previous cases.

There are still basic information gaps but any progress against the previous information blackout on most of the basic information with SAUDI SARS victims has to be considered a massive step forward.

What we all need now is for all relevant information on all SAUDI SARS victims to be released.

Like the prior cases the above cases are predominantly adult males.

This again speaks poorely for pilgrims as there are serious indications that segregation practices are at work here and impacting in very serious ways.

Caution remains a top priority until more information becomes available.

Perhaps I should have done our readers this service much earlier than now.

However, I am now offering all the chance to view the professional CV of Professor Niman who owns and runs this incredibally important informtion resource.

Here is a copy of what he displays as public information on his professional background and notable achievements.

Founder

Recombinomics, Inc. Founder and President, Henry L Niman earned a PhD at the University of Southern California in 1978. His dissertation focused on feline retroviral expression in tumors in domestic cats.

He took a postdoctoral position at Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation where he developed monoclonal antibody technology. He fused monoclonal antibody and synthetic peptide technologies and accepted a staff position at Scripps.

In 1982, he developed the flu monoclonal antibody, which is widely used throughout the pharmaceutical, biotech, and research industries in epitope tagging techniques. He also produced a broad panel of monoclonal antibodies against synthetic peptides of oncogenes and growth factors. These monoclonal antibodies were distributed worldwide to researchers by the National Cancer Institute. The antibodies identified novel related proteins which correlated with clinical parameters.

This technology was used to form ProgenX, a cancer diagnostic company that became Ligand Pharmaceuticals. Dr Niman subsequently identified protein expression patterns at the University of Pittsburgh. More recently, he became interested in infectious diseases while at Harvard Medical School. He then founded Recombinomics and discovered how viruses rapidly evolve. These latest findings are the subject of recent patent filings.

Re: <<Advancing Bird Flu-H5N1...Now following MERS and Ebola approaching PANDEMICS>>>
This further commentary on the latest cases of Saudi SARS, the novel coronavirus in Saudi Arabia, we might at last be seeing a possible narrowing down for the net that has been cast to identify the reservour and perhaps vector for this killer.

The fact that all the new cases have come from an area that could be described as a significant food production area is definately significant, however what information is missing is if these foods are being distributed widley or if they are locally consumed.

Other than that the reservour may lie here and still be exploiting another channel as its vectoring agent.

Also, further information on the Saudi SARS coronavirus is needed to establish its persistance as an infective agent, after it may have been deposited by its vector.

In other words, how long can Saudi SARS live for in extended time periods, say as a contaminant on foods, and still cause infections in humans.

If these details could be established then much more specific refinement of search efforts to the original reservour and vectors could be highly beneficial, and hopefully lead to absolute identification and possible complete elimination of the problem.

Of these 10 newly reported cases, all 10 (100 percent) have a history of one or more comorbidities, suggesting a predisposition to more severe illness when confronted with a serious infection. The ages range from 24 years of age to 94 years of age, with the mean age of 57 years (by 10 year age cohorts: 20-29 years old - 1 case; 30-39 years old - 1 case; 40-49 years old - 0 cases; 50-59 years old - 6 cases, 60-69 years old - 0 cases; 70-79 years old - 0 cases; 80-89 years old - 1 case; 90-99 years old - 1 case).

According to information in yesterday's (2 May 2013) report (see Novel coronavirus - Eastern Mediterranean (16): Saudi Arabia, RFI 20130502.1686948), this cluster of cases are all from Ahsaa province. According to Wikipedia, "Al-Ahsa, sometimes Al-Hasa, El Hasa, or Hadjar is a traditional oasis region in eastern Saudi Arabia whose name is used by the Al-Ahsa Governorate, which makes up much of that country's Eastern Province. The oasis is located about 60 km inland from the Persian Gulf. Al-Ahsa is part of the region known historically as Al-Bahrayn, which includes the eastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula down to the borders of Oman, and also includes the island of Awal (modern-day Bahrain)." While Al-Ahsa is part of the Eastern Province, it is the largest area within the province and is often locally considered a province on its own. It is the major date producing region, with 10 000 hectares of agricultural lands, it produces approximately 21 000 tons of dates annually, has more than 30 000 farms producing fruits and vegetables and has more than 2 million palm trees. (see [link to en.wikipedia.org] for more details on the history of this region).

The H7N9 virus continues to infect more people in China.

Making slow but consistant progress, this virus still continues to baffle authorities with it origins and vectoring, and slowly it continues to claim more victims with few affected cases being cured and released from hospital.

128 Cases Of Avian Influenza A H7N9 Now Confirmed
---------------------------------------------
The World Health Organization says another two laboratory-confirmed cases of human infection with avian influenza A (H7N9) virus have been confirmed in China, taking the total to 128.

The first patient is a 58-year-old man from Fujian province who became ill on 21 April 2013 and the second patient is a 69-year-old man from Hunan province who became ill on 23 April 2013.

Additionally, two patients earlier reported have died.

To date, a total of 128 laboratory-confirmed cases of human infection with avian influenza A(H7N9) virus including 26 deaths have been reported to WHO. WHO says so far, there is no evidence of sustained human-to-human transmission.

Re: <<Advancing Bird Flu-H5N1...Now following MERS and Ebola approaching PANDEMICS>>>
Well it looks like the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia might have been hiding far more cases of Saudi SARS than they initially anounced just a few days ago.

Now they seem to be finding small numbers of new cases each day that they feel the need to be admitting to.

One wonders just how many cases they really are going to slowly "discover" over the next week or so.

This situation is a highly dangerous game to be playing if indeed that is what they are doing.

If not, then we really have to become very concerned that this Saudi Sars coronavirus is tottering on the verge of becoming a genuine pandemic risk and that it has gone out of control, or is about to.

Up until now we havent witnessed new case numbers of Saudi SARS being detected in such concentrated numbers, and in such a concentrated area.

You can call me suspicous on this, but it seems to be too convenient that all these new cases we are being advised have occurred in a relatively remote area, well removed from where pilgrims might intend visiting when the traditional pilgrimage periods approach.

Have these cases actually contracted Saudi SARS in the region that is being reported or have the cases been transported there and then reported at that location.

I know this sounds a bit far fetched, but the Saudi authorities together with the World Health Organizations performance in relation to Saudi SARS so far would make that suspicion a justifiable one to consider.

Has Saudi SARS mutated and become more H2H transmissible?

Even though authorities claim that this is not the case, they continue to refuse to release the information that would greatly assist reaserchers to make that determination more clear than is currently guessed to be.

What is behind this sudden increase in Saudi SARS numbers?

If its not H2H transmissible then why the massive and rapid change?

Many questions, we need urgent answers.

As a follow up to the most recently reported 10 case cluster of nCOV in Alhasa in the Eastern Province of KSA. Our investigation is still ongoing and we picked up 3 more cases:

Case 11: 62 year old female with multiple comorbidities. Start of symptoms [19 Apr 2013] and deceased [3 May 2013]
Case 12: 71 year old male with multiple comorbidities. Start of symptoms [15 Apr 2013], deceased [3 May 2013]
Case 13: 58 year old female with comorbidities. Start of symptoms [1 May 2013] and currently ventilated in critical but stable condition.

It apperas from this newspaper article that we are being advised that one of the three "new" cases of Saudi SARS has already tragically succummed to the infection.

This again is highly irregular and if this tragic event has occurred so quickly after being just detected then it too would be the first case to perish so rapidly.

All other cases have lingered on for quite protracted time frames, with some still undergoing medical intervention.

The far more likely senario would be that the Saudi authorities are or have been attempting to disguise all information on Saudi SARS for some considerable time and for reasons yet to become apparent, they now need to begin releasing information.

The most likley reason might be that they have indeed lost control of the spread of the Saudi SARS coronavirus and that the real story could be a serious and uncontrollable outbreak in progress.

Again, International Pilgrims who might be intending to travel to Saudi Arabia to observe their Ummra might be well advised to consider revising their immediate travel plans until the full nature of this situation becomes far more clearer than is currently the case.

Lives could easily be at risk.

I am certain that there will be a great deal of "new" information released on Saudi SARS as time goes by.

The article apparently comes from Riyadh.

This is extremely irregular and defies logical explaination.

Why are military personnel obtaining blood samples?

What secrecy lies behind this?

Just scanning through the numerous bookmarks that I regularly view to get a feel for what is being reported, compared with what is being announced in more reliable medical information services.

I noticed this comment a number of times earlier, but chose to pass it up but now this same comment has a slightly troubling feel about it as it concerns the Saudi SARS outbreak and what is being both said, but also implied as has been seen with an earlier post of mine today.

This comment, that the Saudis are working with the World Health Organization on the Saudi SARS matter and the fact that they have repetedly stated quite directly that they dont need external help, indicates to me that they have tamed the World Health Organization into a position where the Saudi have total control of the flow of information and that other external assistance isnt wanted , perhaps because they might not be able to maintain that same control over information flow.

The obvious question is why wouldnt any concerned organization want and welcome all the help that they might be able to source in an effort to stem the advance of such a lethal problem.

Surely shunning any offer of help is highly suspicous in and of itself.

The ministry was working closely with the World Health Organisation over cases registered in Saudi Arabia but did not need help from foreign medical teams, Mimish said.

A system was put in place across the kingdom to detect suspected cases and to monitor the condition of medics in contact with the patients, he added.

Here is further commentary on Saudi SARS again expressing the Saudi opinion that Saudi SARS doesent appear to be spreading from human to human.

But further commentary from the highly respected Michael Osterholm, director of the Centre for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, whose comments also below are in direct conflict with the Saudi assertions.

Of further note is the fact that all the latest cases of Saudi SARS are being reported from just one hospital, so now the question.

Has the hospital got serious infection control problems or are these external cases being bought to the hospital for treatment, and if so from where, and why just the one hospital.

No commentary has ever been made that this hospital is particularly specialized in this type of treatment.

Honestly with all these convoluted arguments at play and the manipulation of information with other possible opportunities to distort the facts, surely it is abundantly clear that there are some really significant attempts to present a picture other that which has really been happening with this coronavirus throughout the Saudi Kingdom.

Ultimately what sits at the bottom af all these matters is the fact that the Saudis have been and continue to play Russian Roulette with the lives of everyone on this planet.

This wont be their problem alone, but it is their sole responsibility, as is what eventually happens with Saudi SARS and how the world ends up being affected by it.

Saudi Deputy Health Minister Ziad Memish announced the two new deaths, and another case of a patient in critical condition with coronavirus, in an email published late on Sunday on the international Promed medical website.

“Transmission seems linked to one [health-care facility]” in the city of Hofuf, in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province, Memish said in the brief email. It stated that no community transmission appeared likely in the latest outbreak, but didn’t clarify or elaborate further on the cases.

“It has to be person to person — I can’t imagine any other way,” said Michael Osterholm, director of the Centre for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota.

“Animal contact doesn’t appear to play a role at all” in the latest cases, he said. Moreover, he said, the length of time between the dates of onset of disease in the 13 people-from April 14 to May 1 — suggests “multiple chains of transmission”.

“This should really cause concern,” he said.

Please allow me the opportunity to further defend my stance with Saudi SARS as it does appear harsh, but take a look at other comments that were also expressed in the article referred to above.

The simple truth is that I regularly read comments from these experts regarding the way that the Saudi health authorities are not providing anywhere near enough information for international bio-security concerns and they have been repeatedly begged, reminded of their international responsibilities to comply and condemned for not doing so.

I am simply not prepared to sit back and be killed by Saudi SARS and to just accept that it was a natural process.

Should anyone outsise Saudi Arabia ever die from Saudi SARS it will be the direct act of complicity coming from the Saudi health authorities as the real cause of that death and in no way ever a matter of "natural" actions.

That is precisely why I have been sounding off so prolifically.

Without enough people yelling and screaming of this unbelievable compromise that the Saudis think that they can subject the worlds population to, they will manage to have their coronavirus spread and kill possibly millions.

And that justifies my position.

arkay.

China was sharply criticised for failing to disclose the emergence and spread of SARS until it spilled beyond its borders and spread globally in 2003.

The number of casees of H7N9 in China has again been updated with two more cases added to the list.

The good news that we are being told is of the total of 129 positive cases seen so far, there has been a total of 42 that have recovered, but also sadly 31 people have succummed to their illness.

China reports 2 new H7N9 cases
---------------------------
The Chinese mainland confirmed another two cases of H7N9 infection last week, bringing the total to 129, according to official statistics released on Monday.

From 4 p.m. on May 1 to 4 p.m. on May 6, two people, both found in southeast China's coastal Fujian Province, were confirmed to have been infected with the new type of bird flu, according to the National Health and Family Planning Commission. Among the total number of infected persons, 31 have died so far, with 42 recovered.

The commission added that China's confirmed H7N9 cases are isolated and there has been no sign of human-to-human transmission.

With regard to the H7N9 outbreak in China, there is some commentary regarding the reporting that is coming out of China that is quite worrisome if it is factual.

Unfortunately there really isnt any way to positively confirm these rumors, but maybe more information will surface at a future time, that will give us a better knowledge this.

Although the reporting of cases has slowed markedly in the past week, this change appears to be largely linked to testing / reporting. H7 was confirmed in poultry in Guangdong province, leading to extensive culling, but the announcement of the confirmation of H7N9 has been delayed. There have also been rumors that reporting of cases has been limited to two per day, and reports of spread have been banned or discouraged. Instead, emphasis has been placed on cases discharged and the absence of cases after culling.

The H7N9 reporting delays and anomalies continue to increase pandemic concerns.

Well after just posting the latest figures being reported on the situation that surrounds the H7N9 outbreak in China, I now find this later account, from a different source, that again raises those numbers.

Is this reflecting the comments regarding the possible unreliability of reporting?

May 6, 2013 (CIDRAP News) – Health officials in China reported two new H7N9 infections, both from Fujian province, and four more deaths, boosting the outbreak's total to 130 cases, 31 of them (24%) fatal.

This is alarming news.

In a rare event there has been a new case, the second ever, of the novel coronavirus detected in the Arabian peninsular about this time last year, appear and is confimed in a patient who has returned to France.

Hopefully transport organizations have already identified and are monitoring other passengers sharing the same travel arrangements.

The person is recognised as a traveller, from Saudi Arabia, but no further details have been made available at this time.

It will be highly informative to hear what regions this person actually travelled to.

Lets hope the Saudi Arabian, and French authorities are far more forthcoming with crutial information than has been the examples that have so for severely frustrated medical investigators to date.

This case could well throw significant light on to several critical matters relating to where the reservour and vector for this bug lies as it can be expected that this individuals movements, eating preferances, accomodations etc, and other habits will differ significantly to that of more local inhabitants.

French health authorities say they have confirmed the country's first case of a new respiratory virus related to SARS, in a traveler returning from the United Arab Emirates. The Health Ministry said in a statement Wednesday that the person is hospitalized in isolation and is under medical surveillance.

Some interresting news surrounding the recently reported large cluster of novel coronavirus infections in Saudi Arabia are suggesting that the majority of these cases may have originated through poorly maintained dialysis equipment.

This doesent explain all of the cases but would account for the large numbers, leaving perhaps two or three cases yet to be accounted for.

It is an extremely sad day when trained madical staff cannot carry out basic cleaning maintanence on what these days is pretty much basic medical equipment, such a dialysis equipment.

Perhaps lack of adequate funding might account for a scarcity of sterilization solutions and replacement components.

I am certain that enyone who has had a need for dialysis would be horrified to now be learning that they have been sharing other patients blood.

What a totally repugnant fact to have to confront.

This article appears to be indicating that the families of the recent victims of the novel coronavirus in Saudi Arabia are preparing to sue on behalf of their affected family members.

From some of the news that we have found on the matter today, that might be an appropriate action.

Unfortunatley for several of those patients, it will not bring tham back to life and in those cases such legal actions could well cause more heart ache and damage than it relieves.

None the less, such a public humiliation with having unnessary contributing inputs, should they be present, will go some way to ensuring that those who do have responsibility to ensure all medical standards and protocols are strictly observed, certainly wont go astray.

As readers would be abundantly aware, I would love to be at the front of a but kicking exercise over the way that the Saudi Health authorities have to date and probably will continue to handle this fiasco.

Still a wave of anxiety and fear gripping people Mfg Corona after the emergence of the virus, which has killed 7 and injured 6 others in the province amid widespread criticism that her parents to the Ministry of Health in protest at dealing with the issue since the emergence of the virus so far. I learned the "Today" that a number of patients with the deceased and are preparing to sue the Ministry of Health to protest the measures, which they described Baldaifah carried out by the ministry.

We dont need to wonder how we are invaded with deadly diseases why you read these horror stories.

Sale of 40 tonnes of diseased pork sparks police inquiry
Meat from diseased animals allegedly bought on farms, collected from roads, sold to restaurants

Tuesday, 07 May, 2013

Officials probe sale of tonnes of infected pork.

Two people hired by a county government in Fujian province to destroy pigs killed by infectious diseases have been detained for allegedly processing the carcasses and selling the meat in neighbouring provinces.

Police in Nanjing county, Zhangzhou, detained a 44-year-old woman surnamed Lin and a 33-year-old man, busting an illegal operation in which 40 tonnes of pork was allegedly sold in three months, according to the Strait Metropolis Daily, a newspaper affiliated with the propaganda department in Fujian.

The report added that both suspects were hired by the county government to properly dispose of pigs killed by a viral disease called pseudorabies and by the highly infectious porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome, also known as blue-ear pig disease.

Lin, the prime suspect, allegedly saw potential for profit and began buying dead pigs cheaply from local farmers at a price of 10 to 80 cents per half kilogram, as well as collecting dead pigs dumped on the sides of roads

It is probably to be expected but none the less saddening.

The situation with H7N9 in China hasnt really improved, and this new report only confirms that we still dont have any good news to report.

More tragic deaths and no real advances to limiting this menace.

Respectful thoughts and feelings as always are extended to the poor families of those most severely affected, and lets hope and prayers for some breakthrough in the immediate furure.

Why arent we good enough to end this now?

We should be.

As of 7 May 2013 (11:00 CET), the National Health and Family Planning Commission, China notified WHO of an additional 2 laboratory-confirmed cases of human infection with avian influenza A(H7N9) virus. The 1st patient is a 69-year-old man from Fujian province who became ill on 29 Apr 2013, and the 2nd patient is a 9-year-old boy, also from Fujian province, who became ill on 26 Apr 2013.

Additionally, 5 patients reported earlier have died.

To date, a total of 130 laboratory-confirmed cases of human infection with avian influenza A(H7N9) virus including 31 deaths have been reported to WHO. Contacts of the confirmed cases are being closely monitored. The authorities in the affected locations continue to implement prevention and control measures.
