This could be a great country except for two things..banks and government.

If left to the average struggling Aussie, we could make it great. Just look at the communities that have come together after the devastating Victorian fires. They have built on each others strengths to become not only viable but moreover ´connected´ and in so doing the mutual support is overwhelming.

Here is proof, the growth in community banking institutions as well as credit unions has been obvious. It is because these institutions are built around the promotion of local business and services as opposed to the major banks fattening their already bloated coffers.

for that my friend you have earnt a Karma with all my best wishes.

On the point of those devastating fires in Victoria, am I correct that I heard some talk a while ago that all those millions that the good people of Australia so readily donated, has NOT been fully distributed.

Has everyone had their physical possesions as much as can be done, been fully reinstated with all that generously donated and hard earned money from the Australian people, or as I suspect, is it still under the control of some bureaucratic agency or other and being squandered on self interest.

I recently saw a breakdown of who gets paid what for all the charitable organizations here in Australia, and without pointing fingers, there are some pretty damming salaries and benefits going to all but one charity.

And I am not in the least concerned at endorsing this group because of all the good work they have always done and continue to do.

I have absolutely no connection whatsoever with them, just so we are all on the same page.

THEY ARE THE SALVOS...

In my opinion, its them and them alone that public disaster donations should be managed from...no exceptions.

And their head officer gets less that $80K per year, all the rest were amount hugely over that.

Hey, thanks arkay, there is an example of community spirit in action..much obliged for the karma.

I concur, the Salvos...three cheers for the Salvos. Do you remember when they would bring their band to play on the street corner? I felt honoured, enjoyed the live gigs and donated with a smile and a salute.

And yes I do remember those days, even today I might be in a pub and they'll do a walk through with their little donation box and I always empty all the loose change no matter how much out of my pocket and give it to them.

After all, if I can be sitting in a pub, I can afford a few bucks, no?

There is a bigger picture to all this fiscal impropriety.

The reason the Reserve sets the monetary cash rate is to keep a lid on inflation and keep the money flowing. If the banks, through their avid greed, flout decisions made to maintain national equity, they are, in essence, committing treason.

That said, it should be the governments job to impose harsh penalties to all banks that refuse to pass on the rate cuts. The fat cats would shit their pants and comply..unconditionally!

Unfortunately, the banks are the govts. bedmate, or should I say whore.

I find it really interesting that they didn't drop it when just a day or two earlier it was announced that the latest retail figures were the worst in 30 years. People are not spending already so one would think a drop might have helped.

In regard to the charity stuff I belong to a facebook group where we pass on unwanted good to others who want them for free. Recently there was a call out for food to be donated to a single part time working mother (wants to work more but only has 1 day of work a week) who was unable to make ends meet. She could not get any help from any of the local charities as they were already swamped. She lives in the next suburb to me & I found this alarming to say the least. The suburbs around here are regarded as cheap rent so it's not like she can move somewhere cheaper. I think things are about to hit the fan big time.

My words are not chosen for reasons of karma, nor money or pain. I remain one of the 99%, looking toward an uncertain future in this the country of my birth, the only country in the world to withstand the last GFC in 2008 relatively unscathed.

That does not mean that we are in the clear, to the contrary, we are in deep do-do, all because we are tied in to the world economy and as the pins begin to fall..beginning with Greece, there will be a chain reactions.

Solutions...hmmm? Annex our dependency on world markets, open new manufacturing plants, remove social security, except for the most dire and underprivileged. Most importantly is to impose tariffs on all imported goods that can be manufactured here and in so doing, create real jobs.

We here in Australia are very lucky indeed, not just for our geographic isolation from the global ´hotspots´ but for our resolve to help each other, which will be the calling as we enter into new horizons. Indeed, we will show the world what ´mateship´ really means.

Sorry I didnt mean to sound demeaning, actually your words are well selected and basically Im standing right with you.

My idea of forming some sort of insulation for us all as a community and to retain and strengthen those Aussie values would be to form a type of "Citizens Co-operative Bank of Australia".

Somewhere where we can all put our money maybe earn a little interest but predominately use those combined deposits to advance the best interests of ordinary Australians.

New businesses, housing, etc, etc.

I would be aiming to be completely autonomous from government interferance.

Its "directors/managers would need to be from proven and trustworthy backgrounds.

Also, they would need to have a very strong community spirit and be prepared to work for a small percentage over the "average" wage with no big bonusses etc.

I think that an organization could also ask for some sort of annual donation of actual time from its members in contribution to the organization, it wouldnt need to be much but could be devoted to perhaps building community infastructure that our governments have neglected.

From there, there any number of excellent ideas that could become realities.

One thing is for sure, that would very quickly see our existing parasites have to do some real work for a change.

And, just another thought.

Have a think on all the expertise that are in the baby boomer set just approaching retirement that actually might think that this could be a good idea/ hobby for them to have something wortwhile to do.

And if anyone is wondering about the feasability of an idea like this, then if you care to look at just how easy it was for small comminities to get the "Bendigo Bank" to set up branches in towns that were being abandoned by the big 4.

They were really able to penetrate in the banking sector when those holes were left open.

Just kicking a few ideas around, maybe someone else has something good to add??

Dear Ms. Gillard,

Please find below our suggestion for fixing Australia 's economy.

Instead of giving billions of dollars to banks that will squander themoney
on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan..
You can call it the Patriotic Retirement Plan:

There are about 10 million people over 50 in the work force.

Pay them $1 million each severance for early retirement with the
following stipulations:

1) They MUST retire.
Ten million job openings - unemployment fixed

2) They MUST buy a new Australian car.
Ten million cars ordered - Car Industry fixed

3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage -
Housing Crisis fixed

4) They MUST send their kids to school/college/university -
Crime rate fixed

5) They MUST buy $100 WORTH of alcohol/tobacco a week .......
and there's your money back in duty/tax etc

6) Instead of stuffing around with the carbon emissions trading scheme
that makes us pay for the major polluters, tell the greedy bastards to
reduce their pollution emissions by 75% within 5 years or we shut them down.

It can't get any easier than that!

P.S. If more money is needed, have all members of parliament pay back
their falsely claimed expenses and second home allowances

If you think this would work, please forward to everyone you know. If
not, please disregard.

Grumpies of the World Unite

Let's put the pensioners in jail and the criminals in a nursing home.

This way the pensioners would have access to showers, hobbies and
walks.
They'd receive unlimited free prescriptions, dental and medical
treatment, wheel chairs etc and they'd receive money instead of paying it
out.
They would have constant video monitoring, so they could be helped
instantly, if they fell, or needed assistance.
Bedding would be washed twice a week, and all clothing would be ironed
and returned to them.
A guard would check on them every 20 minutes and bring their meals and
snacks to their cell.
They would have family visits in a suite built for that purpose.
They would have access to a library, weight room, spiritual
counselling, pool and education.
Simple clothing, shoes, slippers, PJ's and legal aid would be free, on
request.
Private, secure rooms for all, with an exercise outdoor yard, with
gardens.
Each senior could have a PC a TV radio and daily phone calls.
There would be a board of directors to hear complaints, and the guards
would have a code of conduct that would be strictly adhered to.

The criminals would get cold food, be left all alone and unsupervised.
Lights off at 8pm, and showers once a week. Live in a tiny room and pay
$600.00 per week and have no hope of ever getting out.
Think about this (more points of contention):
------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE AUSTRALIAN CONSTITUTION They keep talking about drafting a
Constitution for Iraq ... Why don't we just give them ours?
It was drawn up by a lot of really smart guys, it has worked for
centuries and we're not using it anymore.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE 10 COMMANDMENTS
The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments posted in a
courthouse or Parliament, is this -
You cannot post 'Thou Shalt Not Steal', 'Thou Shalt Not Commit
Adultery' and 'Thou Shall Not Lie' in a building full of lawyers, judges and
politicians...... It creates a hostile work environment.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also;
Think about this .... If you don't want to forward this for fear of
offending someone -- YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM! It is time for us grumpy
old folk of Australia to speak up!

Re: Reserve Bank of Australia Blackmailed !!!
I posted that email earlier as a bit of light entertainment, but let me relate a true story on the history of our governments real crooked theiving.

Just after World War 11 the politicians of the day, decent statesmen, foresaw that at some time in the future, the massive increase in the birth rate that occurred just after the war would one day become a management problem for the Australian government and its people.

This group of new borns are who we now refer to as the baby boomers, and we are just now right on the cusp of that wisely anticipated management matter.

So, at the time, the government of the day created a tiny tax that was called from what Ive heard was "The Australia Fund', and apparently if you can find any old group certificates from around say 1959 you will see this tax shown clearly as such.

As time passed, this fund grew into some pretty impressive figures and as our politicians moral values slowly degraded the inevidible happened.

Now Im not certain of this but I think that this is about when the Commonwealth Bank came into being, or maybe it was the institution that was holding those funds at that time, no matter anyway.

Then in their wisdom one of our illusterous politicians though it would be a good idea to "nationalize" our banks, and from what I understand this is when all those taxes, our money, for our retirement was simply absorbed into "general revenue" and subsequently forgotten.

I have heard that the money at that time was already well into the billions of pounds, which at todays rates would be worth many trillions of dollars.

Money that the retirees of today have a right to and money that they would gladly love to have to travel, buy their kids homes and further educate them with, etc.

So, when do we get this money that we involuntarily loaned to our government?

I really dont like hearing stories of pensioners staying in bed all day because they cant even afford a little electricity to warm themselves.

This is insane and honestly, as the baby boomers do retire and join with their parents, the Grey Army, they will become the largest single voting demographic in this nation, they are educated and pretty healthy, so if I was ever considering a career as a politician these days I would certainly be having better that second thoughts about those dubious career moves.

I think their days of reconing are very fast approaching.

If you remember our recent history, Kevin Rudd was very quick to placate those little old ladies that stripped down to their bras in Melbourne just a few years ago, the problem was they let him off far too easily.

Itll happen again and with greater force till there is some genuine equity and fairness in this great nation.

Oh, and just a side issue, have a think which generations built this nation in the first palce!

The chinese have a wonderful saying...

It goes...

First generation puts down the foundations.

Second generation builds on those foundations.

Third generation BURN it all down.

Mate I am retired..early so just like you I would probably miss out too, just like Kevies $1,000.00 gift (bribe) to taxpayers a few years ago.

Because I wasnt paying taxes anymore...I got nothing.

Oh BTW I wasnt recieving any "handouts"/ benefits either, just to clarify that one.

Mind you, I didnt really agree with his Santa Clause bribery of the Australian community.

Most people just took the money and ran, who wouldnt, but the way he actually defined the real distribution of that deal was close to total corruption.

It was complete contempt.

What happened to his magnificent million dollar talk fest he sponsored, it happened, then what...total nothing, what a job that one was, where was the the committment to listen and act, it was just another elaborate talk fest, all smoke and mirrors.

I saw absolutely no result from that massively expensive event come into being, it just dissapeared under the carpet.

It reary made me glad I didnt get it, because I felt absolutely NO loyalty or affinity towards his so "in your face" contempt for the Australian people.

Which at the end of the day, that was all that exercise was, a clear and clean demonstration that he could buy all the votes he wanted, ( with our money anyway!)..what he didnt count on was that back stabber that did the usual Labor thing and screwed him over like they all do and have done every time they have a shot at running this country.

I'd recon that it'll be decades before they (Labor) ever get another go...little Johnnie had over a decade based on the oppositions prior ineptitude, what these jockers all need to understand about the Australian voter is that while they "appear" to apethetic, any they probably are, but the mistake these jokers make is that the Aussie voters have VERY long memories.

Anyway after a few decades of observation, thats my quick summery of the political environment here.

Hope it changes one day.

If it doesent soon then, "We the People", WILL do it for us all, that much I am confident of.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also;
Think about this .... If you don't want to forward this for fear of
offending someone -- YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM! It is time for us grumpy
old folk of Australia to speak up!

It all seems TOO easy doesn't it.

I would rather my tax dollars were used to help out the elderly rather than the prison population.

The QLD premier stated that the legal battle going on re: 2011 floods, could/will cost $1billion, I can think of better uses for that money if only THEY would admit that they screwed up the the dams and not waste time in court.

This same premier also stated that to have the Commonwealth games up here will cost approx $8billion.

WHERE IS THIS MONEY COMING FROM??? My husband says I have this trick of being able to pull money out of my arse, but I am not talented enough to pull out $9billion! ! ! ! !

Hi MzTr.

love to see you on my thread, welcome back.

Hahaha, now you wont know this, but I have a wicked sense of humor, so your comments on what your Husband said could lead me to oh, I dont know maybe 9 billion jokes over that one...

just the though of attempting to...oh never mind...!!!

On the matter of insurance, I have steered very clear so for on any talk on THAT particular issue.

We live south of the border from you and have been fighting our fight over an insurance claim for 3 years now.

We have finally won but...the cost, emotionally, to our marrage, etc, etc...it goes on and on.

THAT is one system in this country that is about to become my hobby, so if you know of anyone else that would like to get together and cause sheer absoulte bloody hell for our politicians and their corrupt insurance double dipping bastard mates..just lets get together, the bigger the party...and all that.

And I do offer my apolagies for my strong discriptions for the lowest scum-bag leeches on this planet.

Moving on.. clearly you also did read my post on the "Australia Fund"...now there is another tradgedy, but it could be fixed, it only takes genuine care and a will to do it.

I suspect that you'd be one with those qualities...no..I just know it.

cheers

Just heard on the evening news, another of the big 4 banks has announced an independant (from the RBA) rise of 0.1% in their interest rates.

Expect the other two to follow next week..!

Im about to take bets that these so and so's are colluding...whey arent they being investigated?

Oh thats right our government doesent run our country, big buisness does, and those pansies just do their bidding and talk their way along until the next bs distraction comes along.

It would not even surprise me to hear of some form or other fresh "news" come along next week to take the heat out of all this bank manovering...

Paranoid, maybe.

But just lets keep an open mind and see what does unfold next week.

Also, isnt it interesting that they make their gutless announcement at close of business on a Friday...talk about manipulating people.

All I can say is, that even though it did at the time cost, our mortgage was moved after the first of those contemptuous bank moves and by now we are hundreds, if not thousands in front of those poor and for reasons unknown loyal, customers, maybe they just like throwing their money away.

Come on folks...move or lose!

Hi Arkay, hi

I am a typical Aussie, also a mother, so I don't get offended or embarrassed... easily. I was LOL to myself about my 'trick'.

Despite being tempted a few times I REFUSE to get a homeloan, interest rates, land rates, etc, and still not able to do what you like on your own land is totally ridiculous even though to own our own place would be awesome without the redtape. Once the kids finish school in a few years would love to have a dozen acres of land and be away from the poli-ticks of the world. Some days joining a 'cult' does sound enticing hehehe.

* * * *

Did you hear on the 'news' yesterday I think, where they said that there is no regulation committee for the banks and their interest rates!!! Another speechless moment!

It doesn't actually take that many people to make a difference, we just need to take a stand.

Its deeper than this, the RBA didn't cut because it makes the government look bad.
I know you don't get this, but a country cutting interest rates is a signal its bad for the economy.
The current government is so poor, so defunct, so corrupt and hanging on by just a thread.
That it will do anything to try to survive.
Including trying to fool the clueless minions into thinking it hasn't really stolen all the tax money and given it to their mates and fucked the economy.
Our current Marxist government has turned our national broadcaster into a propaganda channel for the green left.
They are capable of anything and need to be stopped.

here it is folks, one of the big 4 banks giving us and the RBA the middle finger.

All I can say is

VOTE WITH YOUR FEET, it cost you nothing now.

My suggestion is community credit co-ops, building societies, etc, there are choices.

Let these banks know how you feel about their absolute contempt...these guys are posting profits in the billions...from you!!!

You don't get it, the official cash rate is not about "home loans", this is just a part of it.
Its about Debt and treasuries.
Banks increasing rates like this says less people are borrowing and the economy is slowing.
The RBA cutting rates says they think they can't afford to pay such a high yield on future bonds because, the economy is slowing.
The current Marxist regime does not want to own up for what they have done to our economy, completely fucked it up beyond all recognition.

Good to see you back and not offended...was getting a little worried that I may have overstepped the mark.

you raise a number of matters...

First I am aware of how that sleezy Peter Beattie in combination with every member of the Qld parliament on BOTH sides of the House slid in the legislation that effectively has permitted Quensland to now become a corporation and that every citizen in your state is now considered in law to be a "CHATTEL" of the state.

Your state is no longer a part of the Australian constitution.

It was called the BRIGALOW corporation.

They did this by introducing that bill into parliament.

Then they waited.

Apparently if a bill is introduced and is not challenged or debated in any way for twelve months, it automatically becomes law.

For this to have happened it implies that absolutely every member in the governments of Queensland of the day HAD to have prior knowledge of this manovering, and that they all, without exception played that game.

That is why you now live in your state with the out of control checks and balances that the rest of the country just still has, but those attacks are in the wind everywhere else too.

Theyve even dissmantled that corporation which they used as their tool to execute this act of complete sleuth and probably treason that most Queenslanders are still totally unaware of.

Although we still work toward the (once) great Aussie dream of owning our own home, it is becoming obvious that if you have any assets at all, then quite regularly you are going to be faced (attacked) with huge challenges that always aim to shift the efforts and thus savings, investments, homes, efforts of the ordinary into the hands of the wealthier socio-econic group in our country.

Its been a pretty common cycle for probably well over twenty years that I can identify.

This is one of the reasons that I suggested a National co-operative financial institution for all the ordinary Aussies to have a place outside those influences where they could actively contribute with their savings (being sensibly managed) and their minimal labour contributions also.

This is exactly why little jonnie gave away the first home buyers grants.

The intent was simple, give the ordinary joe a shot at the great Australian dream, make it (too) easy for them and they'll jump at it.

They sink their whole lifes work and savings into their home, they improve its value, look after it and get a little comfortable, then what happens.

Kevvie comes along and all of a sudden he plays Santa Clause, gives away our massive surplus and everyone thinks they are on easy street.

Then guess what, the shit hits the fan and its interest rate hikes month after month after month.

And what happens then...

All those dreams, the work, the savings have to go because nobody can afford their morttgages anymore.

And those much loved homes dont vanish, they move into the hands of the wealthier investors, who then rent them back to the poor buggers that cant afford the rents anyway.

Ive heard stories where in Brisbane alone, you basically have to place a bid just to secure a rental property.

Welcome to the smoke and mirrors of Australian politics.

There was a very good reason why little johnnie engineered Martin Bryants event in Tassie ( with the greatest of respect to those families of those victims) all those years ago, he got to dissarm all of Australia over that little game play...and he even got US to pay for it (buy backs).

Its no wonder that around political circles he was cosidered the absolute consumate politician of all time here in Australia.

Ok, sorry, I really have sounded off now.

If youd like to move to Vanuatu, I recon we and my son could be pretty good candidates for that commune, or cult you mentioned.

Got any names in mind, Ive got a few potentially excellent income stream solutions in mind.

And moving forward, I didnt hear THAT news you speak of, though not surprised at the content.

We do need to unite our resources and get a few things done, Ive got the time and the passion, who else has?

Mate I take your point and you are correct, I dont fully understand their system.

But, you know what, I dont NEED to as to understand it is to play THEIR game.

My approach is to "Step outside the Box" and to create OUR OWN system.

Let the others stuff up, stuff around, all I would like to do is simply to step around their crap and "play" a different game.

Already we can avoid the big 4 and source our financial needs from the likes of credit co-ops, building societies, and NONE of those institutions enjoy government backing, nor do the have access to "fractional" banking, which at the bottom of this entire financial crisis is THE very cause of it...

so..!

Nothing is impossible!
