Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29653687 Owlam has many definitions. One definition is 'long'. That doesn't mean, that hell is not forever. Especially when you examine the original Greek word, where Jesus spoke of an eternal (aionios) punishment. Olam and aionios are the same, and I believe interchangable in the Septuagint. The mere fact that King James' hired guns have Jonah claiming that he was anywhere "for ever" before going to Ninevah is proof enough of the jacked-up renderings we've been fed by Religion Inc. We might consider checking out Young's Literal translation, which more accurately says Jonah was down there "to the age", and likewise makes mention of "punishment age-during" and "life age-during" at the end of Matt 25. |
