And what you all think about it fake or real? [link to history.nasa.gov] [link to history.nasa.gov] Cause it looks like, its on the moon,I don't want to start a thread to present it,not knowing what this pic is. And I'm not a expert! Don't be shy, let me know |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 9203345 United Kingdom 02/12/2012 06:58 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Fantastic Astromut! Didn't realise you could image in real time and get such incredible colours, I know when you look at Nebula with the naked eye, the eye isn't sensitive enough to render colour. Ive got my own telescope now (last week in fact), just a little 8 inch dob, seeing Jupiter and the moons with my own eyes and being to make out detail has been a bit of a revelation to me, as previously i didn't realise it was possible to see such detail with a cheap telescope from earth, never mind a light polluted suburban backgarden, this month i hope (if the cloud ever clears!) to see Mars and Saturn with my own eyes! Thanks again for your post, been a member of the Darkskies (Mallincam) network for a while, hope to get a different telescope in the near future more appropriate to imaging, but first i want to see with my own eyes, the wonder of it makes me giddy! lol Best, J |

Have a look at Michael Light's book Fullmoon, it gives a real insight into the environs of the moon. |

When I first found the pic, it was 2 to 3 years ago, I found it on a blog on wordpress (that is no more),only the link was there, but if you cut the link back a bit on your adress bar, you get the NASA history website, (witch tells me, it's real). Is it really a NASA web site ? That the question. The structure you see is very big, and not blured out! Last Edited by wtf/up on 02/12/2012 07:55 AM |

wtf/up User ID: 2800622 Canada 02/12/2012 08:15 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Like i put in an earlier post, get a look through a good scope and youll be shocked with the amount of detail you can see, you cant beat seeing it with your own eyes! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9203345 I did look at the moon a few times, on some website where owners of telescope were broadcasting live feed, but it was not the far side of the moon, very captivating that is, almost like looking at a movie in the dark with the popcorn! And yeah, lots of details! Last Edited by wtf/up on 02/12/2012 08:16 AM |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 9203345 United Kingdom 02/12/2012 08:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I dont know enough to say that it is a shot of our planets moon, could be another planets moon? The bits that almost look like waves or ripples im guessing points to a massive impact which may in turn lead to some strata being very different than the surrounding area. I sure Astromut who's no doubt got a good idea of the geography of the moon through observation will tell us exactly what part of the moon it is (if it is our moon). |

Quoting: wtf/up Well your never know! everyone needs storage! lol I find nature just as strange and wonderful as anything, i can think or imagine. I find it quite interesting that they might yet find life (apart from us) in our Solar system, of course you could argue the Solar system is life, same goes the Universe and everything, just in a slightly different way than our organic life, this possibility is written about by Carl Sagan in his book Cosmos, that i implore you to read if you haven't already. Which up brings us back to the possibility of life in more extreme environments than our own, I hope, and think we may find the answer to this question in our life time, if we do it will be the greatest discover in human history and will show that we really are not alone! I can help but feel life is everywhere even if we still don't understand the big picture, maybe its just beyond our comprehension completely, and we'll destroy ourselves before we become aware of nature on that level, or maybe we'll get hit by a asteroid ;) either way its been good exploring and finding out. |

I believe the same ratio of life apply for life in the univers(I'm talking only about life, any form of it), as the one we have here on earth, exepted the distances and dimensions have changed, since infinity isn't the same as finity! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 9203345 United Kingdom 02/12/2012 09:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | And if you apply that same ratio of life to the universe it leaves us with a lots of chances for many smarter one then us to have evolved at some point of space and time ! Quoting: wtf/up The Drake equation pretty much predicts this. There might even be another another you and me posting on a forum about this very same topic, although that they are as handsome as us, i find difficult to believe! lol |
