Have you ever experienced a Grateful Dead show?

Twice, I was all playing with trails and drinking tequila shots and beers before going in, great shows. Nassau coliseum, long island.

Saw a lot of other really great concerts their too.

The Jones beach amphitheater has been great for concerts lately.

Yep, ...GF showed up after work one day with Dead tickets back early 90s as a birthday prez...She preloaded a cooler in the back seat with frosty things...

The show was in Tampa Stadium. The Black Crows opened. Hung in the parking lot for like an hour ...well...sampling.

I vaguely remember actually entering the actual 'show' sometime later as the Crows were winding down...was getting dusk...

It was a beautiful night...I remember everyone just groovin' and laughing and doin' what Dead Heads do...just diggin' on each other and enjoyin' the ride with fellow humans...

Everyone kept wonderin' what they'd start off with and if memory serves...they played some pretty far out sh*t that night...people were groovin' but were sayin'..."What IS this?"...I don't recall hearing ONE song off ANY album that I recognized...but it was really, really, trippy stuff....

...long about an hour into the fun, some dude taps my shoulder from behind and hands me this spliff the size of Hugo Chavez and well,...details and memories get a really sketchy after those two hits....

Always have been a fan. Sirius Radio has a Grateful dead channel. I listen to it a lot.

you can download hundreds of GFD shows for free. This was the bands policy for years. everyone could bring his/her recorder to the shows. the dead literally asked for it.

BUT soundboars are always welcome!

I miss em,,, a LOT too.

And NO,,, PHISH is just not even close to what a Dead show was.

My collection of live shows,, studio stuff, unreleased stuff, videos and movies is coming close to the 500 GIG mark in my "library".

Yes I have and was so bored I left after about an hour!

I would rather have been in the "ditch" listening to zippers go by!

Lot's of folks don't like/appreciate 'get' the Grateful Dead.

But then again lot's of folks eat at McDonald's. LoL

At Nassau Coliseum late 70's I lost my drivers license. Next day a head showed up at my folks house and returned it to my mom. Mom was impressed. I was at another GD show in the late 80's. Mom had passed 2 years before. During "eyes of the World" her spirit visited me. The rafters lit up and her smile rained sunshine down on me. I knew then everything was OK.

I'm trying to figure out who the history lesson is supposed to impress? Great you know the back ground but the concert still sucked!

I went because I heard them and enjoyed the music but hated the concert and their back ground really didn't matter at the time or anytime for that matter!

I can see that.
Many of their shows sucked.
They openly admitted it.
Can't be 'on' every night.

LOL ..This above is SO true but it was a fun time experience. ...saw them 2 nights in a row with my ex deadhead GF in Charlotte NC..the smell of the crowd was lets say quite a'natural..Half the crowd was spinning in circles for some reason out in the arena hallway while they played.

nope, but I did see Phil and Friends and Red Rocks twice, that was cool.

Hey 87 concert in bloomington, mn, I was at that show, I remember B Weir was having trouble with his amp, I kept watching him going back to see if it worked.

Yeah but we all thought he would die in the late 70's.Remember that?

I remember seeing them at the Hampton Colliseum.I think they played 3 nights in a row there and they were sold out every night.I forget the date but i think it was late 70's early 80's.
