Hey Guys no WMD...they lied, they falsified documents, they outed a CIA agent out of revenge...HELLO have you been reading the news. The crime is the GOP´s negligence in getting to the bottom of this lie that was perpetrated on the American public. Roads are falling apart in my city because all of the money is going to an illegal war in Iraq....which by the way had nothing to do with 911 Ice Cream is trying to spin this story to place the blame away from where it´s supposed to be.. Hey, any of us are capable of being conned....after 911 (another massive con job), the whole nation wanted to bring justice upon the infidels who did it...SADLY, THEY MISSED. Most of the democrats spouted the same war rhetoric that was being spouted by the GOP so who is fooling who here? Want to start with a few names? What about Kerry? What about Hillary? What about the majority of the democratic party along with the conservatives. They all based their opinions on foreign intelligence and the intelligence that came from eight years of Clinton at the helm so don´t go spouting off about this lying regime. This only goes to show how hypocrytical the democrats are as they were knowingly complicit in this war. Why not continue on that thread to the state of things as Clinton inherited them from Bush and Reagan before him? Your statement is nullified. |

arizona too User ID: 1021 United States 11/02/2005 08:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | REMEMBERING AND ANTICIPATING Gordon Graham THE SHAPE OF THE PAST: A Philosophical Approach to History Oxford University Press, Oxford/New York, 1997 Irving Singer THE CREATION OF VALUE: Volume One of Meaning in Life Johns Hopkins University Press, Baltimore, 1996 Historical Philosophy "Those who do not remember history, are condemned to repeat it." So claimed philosopher George Santayna. But is this true, and how would we know? That is the task that Gordon Graham has set to explain. When we pose the "big questions" about history, we are taking a philosophical approach. If we simply chronicle particular lives or events, our story is idiosyncratic. That´s fine, but there is a certain variety of history that postulates such trends as progress, regress, collapse, or recurrence. These themes can only properly be invoked if they are philosophically informed and methodologically rigorous, or so Graham contends. Graham´s first two chapters set the argument for a philosophical approach to history. He explores what counts as history, what counts as philosophy, and where the two intersect and where they don´t. Then he devotes a single chapter to each of: progress decline collapse recurrence providence The outcome of all of this analysis is a much better appreciation of how to draw conclusions from historical experience, AND how frequently many historians have NOT done a very good job with their generalizations. The problem is the readiness to argue by analogy and example rather than by principle and comparative analysis. Many good tools for thought are applied throughout these chapters. You are incorrect in your views in my opinion. I believe this is due to ignorance. I have compassion for you. You have simply been misled. I´ll take the Pepsi Challenge against you any day. |

Then this would´ve been a war inherited already in progress. Instead his illicit behavior only served to leave a legacy of a war yet to be inherited and declared by extremists, to the next administration. You´re obviously out of reality. |

His indescretions in the WH lead to his inability to facilitate his Iraq Policy the way he wanted to and thus made us impotent overseas. That gave those who were waiting and planning to attack us on 911 free reign and little resistance. Maybe you should take a refresher course in political history. |

observant User ID: 134 United States 11/02/2005 08:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Hey, if you really want to get to the root of the problem, then it´s all about the Brits and the Balfour Declaration. But then a case can be made that the Muslim problems in the mideast began with the Crusades, though others will argue that Caesar started it all. Maybe Alexander the Great or Sulyman started it all. whatever. But that´s the chickenshit way of dealing with the issue. What happened this week is this: Fitzgerald uncovered enough dirt to indict Libby on 5 counts. These counts hint at manipulation of intelligence, including the forged Nigerian yellow cake papers and drafts of Colin Powel´s UN speech written by Libby -- and this forged document was used in bush´s 2003 SOTU as part of the case to go to war. The Senate Select Intelligence Committee was committed to producing a Phase II investigation into whether any intelligence was falsified or manipulated as justification for war. Very serious stuff, but Roberts held only one Phase II meeting in 2005, and blew off any queries that came close to the White House. Obviously partisan actions of Senators that care more about keeping control of their power than whether a war was started on false premises and Americans were killed for lies and war for profit. These are questions that MUST be asked, since there is AMPLE evidence that collusion, graft, profiteering, cronyism, and utter ineptitude is killing our soldiers and bankrupting our country. Americans who truly love their country want the answer to these questions. If the Democrats have to twist arms to get answers, then so be it. To call this a "stunt" is thoughtless talking points babble. IceCream, you display insufficient analysis, just pea-brained knee-jerking. Bush along with many democrats saw that these muslin wackos needed to be put in their place in the world and we are doing it. You are only giving them MORE POWER in trying to make it look like Bush had no reason to give them hell. You are whining to our own death if you keep this up.
