Did anyone of you ever really knew a freemason personally? I did...

My grandfather was a mason. After he died my dad gave me his ring. I've always wondered if the ring denotes the degree of the mason as I have no idea what level he had attained. Anyway, he was an extremely straightforward man, not into non-sense of any kind. He was a navy man and an engineer. If he had even the slightest inkling that freemasonry was about anything satanic, magickal, astrological, etc. I'm sure he would not have continued his involvement. There was nothing ritualistic about his funeral, but there were many elderly masons with aprons attending the service. Personally, I think it would be much more interesting if that were the case, but I have a copy of the masonic bible and have not seen anything unusual in its pages.
Quoting: FlowerStorm2012 Possibly, what enscriptions are on the ring? You should be honored to recieve your grandfather's ring. It is not uncommon for a mason to have a masonic funeral, even within the lodge. I have personally participated in two myself. Quoting: Veri Masonic illumine Unfortunately, I put it away for safe keeping but it seems that it was a good hiding place because I can't find it! I believe there were two rings, and I got one and my father has the other that has diamonds and such in it. The one I was given is similar to this: [ link to www.google.com]
