Based on their findings, researchers found that 63 percent of those who took the remedy at the first signs of a migraine experienced pain relief, while only 39 percent of those taking a placebo experienced any perceived relief. |

Otherwise, dark room of course. Cold compress, accupressure to the webbing in between your index finger and thumb for 20 seconds, cold shower(this is because your blood vessels in your head are dilated, the cold will constrict them), caffeine(slowly drink a coke or some coffee), massage your scalp and face and try to gently lift the skin to release pressure, and if you have peppermint oil you can put a drop directly on your temples. I have even put a streak of it across my forehead and it has an analgesic effect. Another great accupressure point is the base of your skull on either side of your spine. Sorry you feel so awful, I have always had debilitating migraines and I just want to help everyone that has them. Hope you feel better! |

I feel for ya. My wife has them really bad. The thing we found works for her is a cold only bath with the jets running, ear plugs, a blackout mask (ears underwater) and her hydrocodone with caffine. 45 mins she feels much better and can function. | kirkita User ID: 9830942 02/12/2012 05:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I get bad migraines and these are helpful natural relievers. Peppermint oil- rub it around your ears, neck, and forehead. I use it straight out of the bottle. You will smell to heaven of peppermint but the coolness is worth it. Breathe deeply 7 times in through your nose and out through your mouth. Breathe in the 8th breath, hold it, and direct the energy to where it hurts. When I do this a few times I want to fall asleep and that can help. Feverfew, etc, you often have to take prophylacticly and I am not good at keeping that up. Non-natural- Advil migraine gels can be helpful and for me, Imitrex. I need only 25 mg and they like to pass out 100 mg tabs. So ask for smaller doses first and see what brings you relief. Good luck to you dear, I hope very much that the peppermint and breathing will help because pharmaceutics are not cheap. |

Pop a couple simple pain relievers, then just lie down in a dark room till the aura has run it's course. You have kids you have to watch while enduring a migraine? That has GOT TO SUCK!!!!!!! |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 10657808 02/12/2012 05:38 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There is a product called Sinus Buster that gets rid of migraines in one minute. A man told me his story. He and his wife were staying in a hotel attending a conference. There was an event that night but his wife was terribly sick in bed with the lights out barely able to move. A fellow attendee came into their room who was aware of the situation. She told the couple that she had some Sinus Buster for her to use. The sick woman waved her off, saying she had tried everything and nothing ever worked for her. The visitor said she had shared Sinus Buster with five others who suffered from migraines, and they had all gotten the same results. The sick woman gave in and sprayed the nasal spray into her nose. One minute later she was sitting up. Twenty minutes later she was dressed and attending the party where she stayed for at least a few hours and felt no return of her headache. |

| kirkita User ID: 9830942 02/12/2012 05:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Flowerstorm 2012 and australia (tennis balls) had useful tips and never underestimate the power of a good soaking bath, warm or cold. Too bad about the little ones running around- it is so hard to recuperate when caring for family- I know. Pulled between duty and pain. |

Second, you have to stay away from flavourings especially dinatrium-triphosphate. (check food declaration) These two nerve poisons are to blame for most migraines. I KNOW because I was DYING of migrain attacks but when I stopped using fluor tootpaste my 40 years of migraine history went away; since about 6 years I never had a single migraine attack so there's only a long term cure of detoxing your body from these two main nerve poisons. (also watch out for aspartame and sweeteners) Very generous by the insane PTB to destroy our brain by nerve poisons. |
| gurunade User ID: 10662475 02/12/2012 05:47 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Btw, OP, I noticed you mentioned topamax. My mom knows how bad I get migraines and she works with a woman who gets them severely as well. So the woman gave my mom a couple of those for me to take the next time I had a migraine. I took one and it fuuuuucked me up. My heart was racing, I was feeling clammy. It actually made that shit worse! BEWARE! I'm not one for pills, take ibuprofen and such maybe twice a year, but I thought I'd give this a shot. Bad idea. I don't see docs for shit, haven't had insurance in years. |

I don't really want to start taking topomax or whatever, but I can't live like this right now. Any suggestions? Quoting: Oubliette Stay away from soda, chocolate and high sugar foods. Not a short term remedy if you have one now though. That fact that you can even sit and write this thread though shows it's not as bad as most migraines usually are. This site's got lots of info. [link to www.relieve-migraine-headache.com] "Chaos exists as a pool of possibilities that order draws from and organizes according to creative desire. Some things get tossed down the memory hole only to reemerge later when the need arises. Neither chaos nor order holds a monopoly on creation and destruction, creative or destructive chaos exists as does creative and destructive order." - ME! Yeah, Bea :) snoocherdoodle@gmail.com |

They drove me nuts. I saw a chiropractor for 2 years hoping that the treatments would stop the migraines...they did not. I've also tried most of what has been suggested, and then some, but nothing ever worked. The first time I tried a prescription I immediately threw it out as it made my head feel like a lead balloon. I finally picked up a Natural Cures Encyclopedia, and started the vitamin regimen they recommended. Now, I may get a migraine once every 4-6 months. It took 3-4 months for the vitamin regimen to have an effect, but I'm really glad I waited. Take the following daily with a meal: - Magnesium - 200mg/3x daily Note: After doing a bit of research I started taking a calcium/magnesium/zinc combo. The calcium aids in the absorption of the magnesium. My combo contains 600mg of magnesium in each pill, so I take it once a day. - Omega-3 Fatty Acid EPA DHA (High Grade Fish Oil) - 5000mg/1x daily - Vitamin A - 8000iu/1x daily - Flush Free Niacin - 500mg/1x daily - Co-Q10 (Quick Absorb) - 100mg/1x daily - Vitamin E - 1000iu/1x daily Notice that all of these supplements affect your cardiovascular system. The key to solving your migraines is to find out why you have an imbalance, then try to correct it. I also add 5000 iu of Vitamin D3, unless I've had the appropriate amount of sun exposure that day. Keep in mind that everyone is unique. I struggled with migraines for 20 years until I found exactly the right combo that worked for me. You may be different. Also note that once a migraine sets in there is very little you can do but wait it out. Don't overload on over-the-counter pain meds as they will wreck your system over time. Wishing you well! |
