The problem with slurring all the criminals in somebody's heritage is that "criminal" doesn't necessarily carry with it the same connotation that it did back when our ancestors were being exiled to our current respective homelands.

Back then, "Criminal" could simply be someone who disagreed with the King, and lacked the basic self-preservation instincts to keep his mouth shut about it.
