Preschooler’s homemade lunch replaced with cafeteria nuggets - state agent INSPECTED lunches brought from home!
Preschooler’s Homemade Lunch Replaced with Cafeteria “Nuggets”

State agent inspects sack lunches, forces preschoolers to purchase cafeteria food instead

RAEFORD — A preschooler at West Hoke Elementary School ate three chicken nuggets for lunch Jan. 30 because a state employee told her the lunch her mother packed was not nutritious.

The girl’s turkey and cheese sandwich, banana, potato chips, and apple juice did not meet U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines, according to the interpretation of the agent who was inspecting all lunch boxes in her More at Four classroom that day.

The Division of Child Development and Early Education at the Department of Health and Human Services requires all lunches served in pre-kindergarten programs — including in-home day care centers — to meet USDA guidelines. That means lunches must consist of one serving of meat, one serving of milk, one serving of grain, and two servings of fruit or vegetables, even if the lunches are brought from home.

...

When the girl came home with her lunch untouched, her mother wanted to know what she ate instead. Three chicken nuggets, the girl answered. Everything else on her cafeteria tray went to waste.

“She came home with her whole sandwich I had packed, because she chose to eat the nuggets on the lunch tray, because they put it in front of her,” her mother said. “You’re telling a 4-year-old. ‘oh. you’re lunch isn’t right,’ and she’s thinking there’s something wrong with her food.”

1. turkey:probably only one little thin slice worth half a gram of protein.

2. cheese: i bet it was that overly processed bright orange dollar store crap. zero nutritional value.

3. banana: hope it wasn't green seeing how that's all the grocers carry right now cause it's the wrong season for this fruit.

also, bananas are like .69 cents a lb.= cheap mom

4.potato chips: why not just give her a pack of ciggarettes, they both cause cancer.

5.apple juice: an amazing 39 grams of sugar of overly pasteurized, pesticide rich crap.

Dont think for a moment that the food inspectors last name wasnt Washington, or Martinez......

There is absolutly NO way possible on earth for a normal person not to understand that the meal from home was better....only an indoctrined martinez or washington could be so mentally lost as to believe what the department of Education tells them to believe....

This is definately a case of Affirmative Action Hiring/IQ/Drone Mentality/Willful ignorance, and not nutrition!!!

The lunch mom packed is probably really bad.
Chips?
Apple juice?
The quality of the sandwich is also questionable, but....

STAY AWAY FROM MY KIDS LUNCHBOXES!

My daughter went to school with
raw organic coconut water - instead of pasteurized apple juice
sushi - instead of a sandwich
and a cup of strawberries and blueberries, sometimes banana
raw superfood bar for snack.

If you don't have money to buy a coconut, make cold ginger tea, from just a slice of ginger, half a lemon and a tablespoon of raw honey.
Make them raw nut milks, sweeten with dates and/or stevia.
Or add raw cocoa for "chocolate milk"
Make your own superfood bar. It will cost 5 times less than store bought and it will be organic.
Make your own trail mix from sprouted raw nuts and dried fruits ( easy on the fruit though)

Make your own sushi, fruit is easy. Send them with a salad. Make a delicious dip for the veggies.

My son is extremely picky ( after a horrible flu)
I send him to school with at leat 50% of his food raw.

It is not that hard! Just takes some brains and time.

I live in NC and have 2 kids that went thru this. This has been going on for a long time. When my exwife and I split, my oldest child got to enroll in the program. They werent even ALLOWED to bring packed lunches into the class...period. The parent had to walk their child into the pre-k class each day (they couldn't come in on their own) and you couldn't even leave a lunchbox for them as it would be sent back with you or thrown away, your choice. Birthday cakes, cupcakes, you know, just random treats we got in school from time to time were also, you guessed it, not allowed. We couldnt even have a graduation for them, though the parents, including myself, were willing and able to fund the whole thing...we did anyway though, just own our own away from school, and EVERYONE came, even the teachers (who BTW also thought the policys were ridiculous)...screw the man

Money grab: Do not forgetting that the government is subsidized lunch programs including breakfast programs and after school snacks. This is all a money grab by the schools. The schools provide the cheapest meals possible to children and what does the child get? Minimal calorie food so crappy the kids need a "after school snack" just 2 hours after lunch is over.

The kids are forced to "drink the sugar free punch" literally.

The government feeds 31.6 million kids a year for a cost of 10.5 billion making each lunch cost around $1.80. The kids aren’t even getting there $1.80's worth of food with the junk the schools are serving now a days. The school is making a profit after all and that’s after paying employs.

If you really want to break the numbers down, take that $1.80 and divide it in to breakfast and the after school snack. Do you really think they are getting a healthy lunch for a buck?
