Re: Preschooler’s homemade lunch replaced with cafeteria nuggets - state agent INSPECTED lunches brought from home!
In 12 years of school, my mom never gave me a lunch as good as that girl got.

It was peanut butter and jelly, maybe a banana and maybe a couple cookies or some corn chips. Or one slice of baloney instead of peanut butter.

A couple times she gave me white bread with margarine for a sandwich. The first time, I thought she forgot to put something in the sandwich. After the second time, it was clear she did it on purpose. I did complain, and she didn't do it again.

Good Lord woman! A mom that stays at home and either raises her own meat, eggs, milk, and wheat can do that or a woman who stays at home and has a household income of 100K or so can do that, but a mom who works every day and brings home 30K would find it very hard to find the time or the money to do that. The lunch that mom packed is just fine. Juice and bananas, meat and cheese and one snack. Can't ask for much more than that.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 10759157

I work! Most of the things are super fast to prepare.
You can buy a good meat if you combine the money for the chips and juice. You can make you own cheese ( on the weekend) it doesn't take much time. Maybe you can involve the kids? 2 dates and a handful of nuts will make a great snack.
You don't have to make 100k to make a lemonade or make a good sandwich.
These are all excuses !
Again involve the kids for gods sake, they will have fun making some of the stuff!
 Quoting: Lilac.Nights

What is the point of making your own cheese if you don't make your own milk... Raise cattle... and most people do not have their own cows.. .. LOL Moooo Especially a mother with a full time job.
Just curious?

Wow, you've got a lot of great ideas. I have a much harder time as I have teen boys and due to many years of severe health problems, the diet I started them out on changed a lot while they were being cared for by others who were happy-meal crazy and lazy. I was dying, was just glad they weren't taken by the state. It is very hard to find ways to do those really healthy things now that they are teens and VERY picky about what they will and won't eat. If I find any fruit or vegetable they will eat, I make sure to capitalize on it. I find every trick I can, like buying the whole-grain breads that don't look like it, not buying sodas, and very much limiting other things that I know are bad for them, trying to stay away from anything with HF corn syrup or high sugar content, MSG, etc, and reading labels like a professor, haha. I also practice natural medicine which has helped to avoid a lot of bad things in their system and gives us many good options to keep them healthy. Like you, I like to use stevia, xylitol (in sugar-like crystal form), Agave syrup, honey, rice syrup, and sometimes sugar for certain things. The only change I would suggest in your regimen is the sea salt, unless it is Celtic Grey, it is unhealthy and highly processed and not good for us. I have been researching salt options lately, and coming across more and more good information. Another excellent choice is pink Himalayan salt. Both can be purchased online, finely ground, or coarse, and are much healthier for our bodies. The problem is that they don't use anything this nice in processed foods, so anything store-bought has the "bad salt" in it. I think when using non-iodized/natural salts, iodine supplementation with some type of seaweed/kelp supplement or food source is good to keep the thyroid healthy since the natural salts do not contain the natural iodide that is added to iodized table salts. Another method I have used for supplementing iodine is to apply an iodine tincture directly to an area of the skin, such as the belly, or thigh, allow it to dry and sit there and absorb dermally. This can get the iodine level up to par and when your body has enough, it will stop absorbing it (the iodine won't disappear any more). At least that's what I hear. I don't pay attention to that part much. I won't add a bunch of info here on those salts, but you can google them to find out. Just thought someone as conscientious as you might find it helpful.
 Quoting: SaintIn

You are doing great! Good for you and your sons!
They will thank you!
I use only Celtic and Himalayan salt. I also put combu seaweed in every soup that I make. Also use lots of walnuts. I also only use natural medicine.
Please, do share more ideas.
The only way to fight is with knowledge!

I live in NC and have 2 kids that went thru this. This has been going on for a long time. When my exwife and I split, my oldest child got to enroll in the program. They werent even ALLOWED to bring packed lunches into the class...period. The parent had to walk their child into the pre-k class each day (they couldn't come in on their own) and you couldn't even leave a lunchbox for them as it would be sent back with you or thrown away, your choice. Birthday cakes, cupcakes, you know, just random treats we got in school from time to time were also, you guessed it, not allowed. We couldnt even have a graduation for them, though the parents, including myself, were willing and able to fund the whole thing...we did anyway though, just own our own away from school, and EVERYONE came, even the teachers (who BTW also thought the policys were ridiculous)...screw the man

The issue here is not the lunch contents. The issue here is our sorry government looking over our shoulders all the time telling us what to eat and what to think and how to live for our own good. It is modern day slavery in fascist America. If the government wants to come after me for saying they suck so be it. They can suck my balls.

How can anyone with any logic not get pissed off about this? The nuggets have less nutrition then the lunch from home. Has monsanto taken over the education industry too? No wait the commie's did in the early 60's.

Re: Preschooler’s homemade lunch replaced with cafeteria nuggets - state agent INSPECTED lunches brought from home!
Hell, my mother never gave me any school lunch at all. She was too busy sleeping her life away.

If I wanted lunch, I made my own like a bologna sandwhich, or sometimes peanut butter and jelly.

Most times I never even made/took anything for my school lunch. I just hung out with my friends, and watched them all eat pretending I was not hungry. No drink.

However, my mom did make a great dinner/supper before my Dad got home from work. If she didn't, my Dad would have whipped her ass.

My point here is that what would this so called school lunch inspector have done to me back in those days? They would've taken me away from my parents, and maybe with good cause.

But, what they did to the main little girl in this post was completely uncalled for.

Bottom line is it's all about control, and they're saying "ther's nothing you can do about it!"

No, that's NOT true!
The issue is that the government is making you forget how to be healthy!
They made you accept all the poisons in the store and the toxins they are feeding you. Now you are upset that you are told what to eat and what not to eat. While the problem is that you eat the same trash. They have created a distraction and you all fall for it.
If they were offering something healthy you would never react like that.

Fight for the toxins to be out of the food chain, then everything will fall back to it's place. Fight the government about GMO, agent orange, all of the artificial sweeteners, bad oils and hormones! Go to the heart of the problem!

It sooo ironic.

Yet another example of government intrusion into our lives.

Next they will be telling parents that the quality of the clothing or shoes I buy for my kids is sub-standard. Some liberal jackass wont be happy unless my son is wearing "chuck's" or my daughter is wearing a cashmere sweater.

LOL. I remember taking lunches to school in my little tin box too, although they must have been uneventful because I really can't remember what they consisted of. Probably PB&J or tunafish. But I remember plenty of margarine and sugar sandwiches and mayonnaise sandwiches growing up. I can only remember going out to eat once in my childhood and getting a candybar at the grocery store was almost unheard of.

The lunch mom packed is probably really bad.
Chips?
Apple juice?
The quality of the sandwich is also questionable, but....

STAY AWAY FROM MY KIDS LUNCHBOXES!

My daughter went to school with
raw organic coconut water - instead of pasteurized apple juice
sushi - instead of a sandwich
and a cup of strawberries and blueberries, sometimes banana
raw superfood bar for snack.

If you don't have money to buy a coconut, make cold ginger tea, from just a slice of ginger, half a lemon and a tablespoon of raw honey.
Make them raw nut milks, sweeten with dates and/or stevia.
Or add raw cocoa for "chocolate milk"
Make your own superfood bar. It will cost 5 times less than store bought and it will be organic.
Make your own trail mix from sprouted raw nuts and dried fruits ( easy on the fruit though)

Make your own sushi, fruit is easy. Send them with a salad. Make a delicious dip for the veggies.

My son is extremely picky ( after a horrible flu)
I send him to school with at leat 50% of his food raw.

It is not that hard! Just takes some brains and time.

Don't get distracted, this is about money. They are using the guise of children’s health as a distraction to the real intentions. This is solely about government subsidized lunch money because its cash in schools pockets and cash in the company’s that supply the lunches to the schools. Everyone wants a piece of the free pie. Chicago schools have already banned ALL home packed lunches because it makes them a LOT of money.

NO Doubt! This is so hypocritical, as everything else the government is coming down the pike with! What about those who are vegitarians, because of their religious beliefs? They will be forced to eat a serving of meat? And tehy want to cookie cutter our childrens lunches, when all you have to do is go to school and see how obviously different everyones nutritional needs are. When they predominantly eat at home how dare the government present themselves as wise enough to dictate to me my childs nutritional needs. Especially when it seems like an unsurmountable task to balance a check book, something we all do at home on a daily basis. They can shove all their ideas up their arses!!!! Including healthcare, while ppelosi and reid pass out immunity waivers, and muslims because of their faith dont even have to participate. This shit is really becoming diabolical. They surely have deteriorated with the lunch programs since I was a kid. Yes, it was a looong time ago, but our lunches were really good then. We NEVER had pizza! No fried foods that I remember, unless we had fried chicken once in a while. But usually it was some kind of meat, a veggie, a starch and a small dessert and a box of milk. Like normal people would eat at home, in those days.

No doubt about it, the government could fuck up a rubber mallet...

A couple times she gave me white bread with margarine for a sandwich. The first time, I thought she forgot to put something in the sandwich. After the second time, it was clear she did it on purpose. I did complain, and she didn't do it again.

Im so glad you posted that AC! Why doesnt the government fund the sack lunches so we can afford them? Or do we really need squat from the dumbasses? I remember depending on the time of the month and bills only getting a piece of bologna between 2 slices of bread, many times, its all we could afford. I even remember looking at the school luches that were fifty cents back then and milk was a nickle. I though it a treat to stand in line with my nickle to get a carton of chocolate milk with my sandwich, didnt even have chips. Id see roast beef and potatoes, and cherry cheescake and just wish i could have a school lunch. With michelle controling what is in the school cafateria's i hear 75% of the kids wont even touch it!

Since when does governemnt think they can control what my children will eat, are they going to pay for my childs healthcare? Becasue of not you can shut the fuck up about what you think my child needs, he belongs to me and is my responsibility! Go jump off the fucking cliff you keep trying to push us off!!! furthermore alot of times i dind have lunch and i turned out fine and am healthier than 99% of government officials. And would love to show them by kicking their lard asses!

Re: Preschooler’s homemade lunch replaced with cafeteria nuggets - state agent INSPECTED lunches brought from home!
Oh puleeaze let a kid eat a fuckin potato chip already...you sproutards are just as bad as the USDA retards.

No wonder kids are "projectile vomiting" if they eat anything outside wheat grass sprout juice and organic tofu nuts or whatever the fuck..they are weaklings.

FUCK THE USDA and their bullshit nutritional engineering and FUCK all you organictards too. A kid should be able to eat a slice of Baloney once in a while and not go into a coma and the USDA has no business tarding around interjecting whatever mastermind bullshit they come up with either as long as some kid is eating fookin normal enough food and not shit like logs of deep fried Crisco or some other insanity.

I'm sure at some time or another there was some kid who only got fried fat left over from a taco bell or some insane crap because some parents ARE idiots, or very well might be dirt poor and won't own up to it. So while a school lunch program likely has done some good at some point in history for some kid in an anecdotal situation?...as soon as THAT happens whatever agency goes 1,000x further than the original intent was ever meant to and here we end up today with some govt dumbass who is one out of 10,000 govt dumbasses crawling up everyone ass with a microscope "Just doing their job" and exercising their powerz bestowed on them by the govt bloat machine.

It's what ALWAYS happens when the fed govt gets involved. They couldn't run a sand mine in a fuckin desert without 20,000 idiots filling out 100,000 forms, 10 billion over budget and 20 billion in subsidies. This is why the states should be handling this sort of thing. So a school lunch program can actually feed some of the kids that may very well be poor and not getting enough decent food at home. It's not that hard to figure what to eat, because if it were?...the frikkin human race wouldn't have survived and guess what?...a piece of pizza or a damn cheeseburger isn't going to kill anyone.

You people with your raw food organic "fisheye and almond milk spread" bullshit are the ones FUELING this crap...let a kid eat a fuckin cheeto already...sheesh... and if they are getting fat?...then go play some ball or wail around like...a kid..and they'll burn it off and might even get a bit stronger while doing it....instead of sitting around like fuckin load of human cottage cheese trying to commune with Rajihaha of the 5th dimension or whatever other new agey crapola you sproutard hippies are probably into.

1. turkey:probably only one little thin slice worth half a gram of protein.

2. cheese: i bet it was that overly processed bright orange dollar store crap. zero nutritional value.

3. banana: hope it wasn't green seeing how that's all the grocers carry right now cause it's the wrong season for this fruit.

also, bananas are like .69 cents a lb.= cheap mom

4.potato chips: why not just give her a pack of ciggarettes, they both cause cancer.

5.apple juice: an amazing 39 grams of sugar of overly pasteurized, pesticide rich crap.

this inspector is a hero!!!!

I am positive what the parents packed was better then what was offered st the public school. Do you not remember pizza Friday. Cheese was like a sheet of plastic.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 7810271

They surely have deteriorated with the lunch programs since I was a kid. Yes, it was a looong time ago, but our lunches were really good then. We NEVER had pizza! No fried foods that I remember, unless we had fried chicken once in a while. But usually it was some kind of meat, a veggie, a starch and a small dessert and a box of milk. Like normal people would eat at home, in those days.

No doubt about it, the government could fuck up a rubber mallet...

dasbier Cheers AC, and remember they would still be willing to pay $500.00 for the same mallet!

And so it ends. I guess it seemed like a good enough idea when the government was protecting kids from 'drugs'. Now you fucking lazy retards might learn the definition of 'slippery slope'. Should have raised your own kids in the first place instead of turning over that responsibility to the government. I piss in your stupid lazy faces.

Get over yourself, you sound like a child on the playground running home with the ball mommy gave him.

You sound like someone who has no grasp on the concept of personal responsibility. I hope you are sterile. I am tired of fucking idiots like you and I am really fucking tired of paying the bill for you and your stupid fucking kids. Want to see an example of failed Socialism? Look no further than public schools. Of which I am sure you are a product.
