Anonymous Coward User ID: 1282542 United States 02/15/2012 06:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Wow I thought aftershocks started happening within hours of the EQ Quoting: Anonymous Coward 10574572 Can they really take almost a day to happen> Or was this a foreshock... I've checked my EQ app on my phone and don't see any reported aftershocks, but I do know that it only reports EQ's of mag 3.0 or higher. But if in fact there has been no reported aftershocks from the 6.0 quake yet than there's a strong possibilty that it was a foreshock to a bigger event, what concerns me is that yesterdays quake was at a very shallow depth as well. Keep in mind though that the Japan 9.0 mega quake last year happend after a 7.0 quake + many aftershocks 3 days prior (or were thought to be aftershocks anyway) so anything is possible at this point. One thing I do know is that it's scientific/geological fact that the Cascadia subduction zone follows a 300 year cycle and it was determined that the last major event there happened in the year 1700. It's also been determined that this event was anywhere from 9.0 - 9.7 on todays richter scale so needless to say it's going to be very ugly when this event happens again especially if the entire faultline ruptures from northern california to canada. We are talking serious doom that will likely dwarf what happened in Japan last year.... |

I can't find it (or them) so could you post a link to the individual eq's in that same area off shore since the 6? Not challenging you. I'm sure you are correct but would just like to see the link(s) to them. Tia. |

LindaE User ID: 1415061 United States 02/15/2012 07:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There is a "Christian prophet" named John Paul Jackson and he mentioned something... that he saw a catastrophic EQ in 2012 between Seattle and Vancouver and also a volcano becoming active in that area. I never took it truly to heart until i have seen this EQ activity in the past couple of weeks. weird. I stumbled across his videos on youtube just being curious about what said prophets are saying these days. I wonder if I can find the video again. He also has an interesting series called the Perfect Storm. Quoting: RebelleRose He also said something about Japan happening again. So, is that prediction for an earthquake between Seattle and Vancouver WA or Seattle and Vancouver B.C.? Not that it matters to me since we live close to Seattle, but we have family members and friends near the B.C. one. |

Please people in the area BE SAFE. Get your bug out bags ready and have A MONTH OF FOOD put away. So should everyone else because if major disaster strikes the grocery stores may be empty. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1331430 United States 02/15/2012 08:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | 5.2 Andreanof Islands, Aleutian Islands, Alaska just 30 min ago..... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4080858 Could be another movement from the 6.0 which hasn't had an aftershock....I am calling this a Foreshock to something bigger......lets keep an eye on this one. these Alaskan quakes happen all the time and might not be your best indicator relating to quake activity on the West Coast. While there might not be anything to measure against for the Oregon quake, you guys might want to go back and see what kind of aftershocks occurred after the 6.5 Eureka quake of January, 2010 (estimated ~24) to try to get an idea of what's going on with these new quakes (if they're foreshocks or isolated events).
