Man dressed as woman steals puppy from pet store

Police were searching today for man dressed as a woman and an accomplice who stole a Chihuahua from a northwestside pet store.

The heist happened at Uncle Bill's Pet Center, 4829 W. 38th St., at 6:10 p.m. Monday, police said.

A clerk at the store said two men stole a $600, 3-pound Chihuahua from a cage in the store.

One of the robbers appeared to be a man dressed as a woman. He was in his 20s, wore purple pants, a black shirt, boots and carried a bright handgun, according to an Indianapolis Metropolitan police report.
