Brazil 02/15/2012 10:11 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Thread for monitoring earthquakes with magnitude of 6.0 or above This thread is intended to register all earthquakes registered on USGS with magnitude of 6.0 or above. The only source for this thread is this link; [ link to earthquake.usgs.gov] Please do not post earthquakes with magnitude 5.9 on this thread. Only 6.0 or above. This thread will show how frequent those quakes really are, and will show if the frequency is rising to abnormal levels or not. |

United States 03/05/2012 10:15 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Re: Thread for monitoring earthquakes with magnitude of 6.0 or above I must ask why only USGS quakes? For example, quakes registered on [ link to hisz.rsoe.hu] tend to be more reliable (usually) as far as magnitude go. For example, the two CA quakes from this morning are still up as two separate quakes on that site, as opposed to the one USGS is showing. Considering that the USGS is unscrupulous with its quake deletion, I would think that you'd want to include other, reputable sources. Just a thought, not trying to start anything :) BTW, I agree that it may be a good idea to have the larger quakes in one thread, easier to keep track of! |

Quoting: Starbridge I understand that, which is why I wondered why you only wanted to use USGS info, per your post. Regardless, I agree with you that they are too quick to downgrade & even all-out delete quakes. |
