I read a book many years ago about Australia's being more or less the last survivors after a nuclear war. it was called "On The Beach". Very good plot and character development, plus a few hints as to how it might be, civilization just sort of "winding down".

It was ok. It wasn't a horrible film though, definitely not something I plan on watching a second time.

I watched that movie last weekend, it was great but he would've been screwed anyways because his shelter was not water proof.

can someone explain the yellow rain to me? i don't think the movie ever explained that.. if it did, I missed it.

i want an explanation for the gravity scene too

The yellow rain was supposed to be motor-oil rain, maybe from an oil spill? Or something else in the atmosphere?
AFAIK, oil is too heavy to be carried to the atmosphere, but that is what I found out when researching online.

Well that is 2 hours of my life that I'll never get back, why did I watch that movie anyway? It was so slow it was painful, but I watched it to the end ....

Take Shelter great movie. I just got done watching Threads. Oh man what a sad movie very similar to The Road. Whats weird though is that its about the crisis we are in right now. The Iran crisis!!!!!!!!!

Apocalyptic chick-style.

Threads is the most realistic and depressing nuclear war movie ever.

If you want to see a movie that is REALLY and most EERILY similar to what's going on with Iran, see if you can find "Countdown to Looking Glass."

Okay, good movie but waaaaay too long and drawn out. Could've told the story in 1/2 the time.

agreed, but you have to admit the plot was good. Again, too many long drawn out shots - dead time.

Ok just finished watching the movie. It was good. It had alot of subliminal messages. Basically what we on GLP have been saying.. which is something BIG is coming and the majority have no clue about it.

I give the movie 6.7 out of 10.0


You guys should watch "The Tree of Life" that is a beautiful movie.

Saw this movie on Rotten Tomatoes. Was attracted to the 92% rating it received and wondered why.

So my son and I decided to rent it. Our local video store only purchased one copy and it was not taken, so we lucked out.

Well, if you've ever wondered about your own sanity, about your dreams, about what is real and what isn't, or if you think people might see you as crazy, then you might identify with the character in this movie.

My son and I thought it was a relevant story to today with just that-- fantastic characterization.

From a visual standpoint, this movie is amazing.

The dreams, disturbing and stunning.

As the viewer, watching the movie, you are left to figure out whether or not these visions and dreams are real or paranoia.
During the movie, both of us would be asking each other, "do you think this is a dream he's having or real life?".

I don't want to say too much, but I do highly recommend the movie.
