gday nexus. another day another rant! hope all is well in your world. only a privileged few get to go to antarctica. what a waste.

i was keeping a lookout for even one sentence or one conspiracy theory that they may try and debunk on the show to further program the sheep but they have simply kept it strictly happy feet and glaciers so i guess thats the program they are running with for now.

eg, i thought kochie might have said something like the following, 'the russians have drilled into a subglacial lake nearby and some crazy conspiracy theorists believe there may be remnants of a long lost civilisation down there. however, scientists say this is ridiculous and the chances are close to nil.'

I was assuming Kochie was down there because of this:

Australia's new Antarctic boss sacked suddenly for no reason

THE Australian Antarctic Division has sacked a distinguished former special forces soldier it handpicked to be its Mawson Station chief just days before he was to sail south.

Former counter terrorism officer Ian Young was due to sail from Fremantle today to take up the 12-month appointment heading Australia's oldest Antarctic station.

Instead 51-year-old the ex-SAS troop commander turned award-winning sculptor is consulting lawyers over what he described as baseless allegations which led to his removal.

Antarctic Division spokeswoman Patti Lucas refused to discuss the case yesterday saying: "We don't comment on staff matters".

Mr Young spent 15 years in the Australian Army, rising to the rank of major and spending time on active duty Somalia and Kuwait.
He also helped plan the successful evacuation of UN Mission in East Timor in September 1999 and has spent the past 10 years as a crisis and emergency management consultant for organisations including the United Nations, IBM and BHP Billiton.

The Australian Antarctic Division, which employs 300 permanent staff, is based in the Hobart suburb of Kingston.
It runs Australia's Antarctic program from three bases on the Antarctic continent and one on Macquarie Island and the ship Aurora Australis.
