Two cases of Mad Cow Disease in same county in California!

There are no reliable tests available...too many false positives. This would ruin a perfectly safe protien source.
And many farm and ranch families livlyhoods would be needlessly destroyed.

I haven't researched this disease heavily, but my gut tells me that this a bioweapon developed in a lab similar to Plum Island.

I don't know but I noticed the same thing. Or is it that earth wobbled? Certainly is strange.

As far as mad cow, prions are prions are prions, not cool at all.

This was in our paper a while ago. It said they both had been in France, one returning after living there. I am near Marin.

but this thing has a 25/30 year incubation period that, together with Hep. C, means that they were already developing Bio weapons 60 years ago (allowing fr development and testing etc)!

Imagine what they have in the works now, that we dont even know about. Whats the bet that in a decade or so people will be zapped out the day they retire, or the day they stop being productive members of society?

Bang, one minute healthy and looking forward to retirement, the next sudden unexplained death. That way the govt. doesnt have to worry about all the expenses with getting old.

After researching the subject I believe the entire thing was the result of canola oil in the cow & sheep feed. This is no longer the case and the 'disease' is all but gone.

Perhaps the sporadic type of CJD can be explained by everyday food and beverages. Namely bread and beer.

Now that is scary.

However, if it doesn't kill you perhaps you can evolve a 6th toe.

1. This is not "Mad Cow" as it is not the kind acquired from eating infected beef.
2. The kind you do get from eating beef comes from eating organ meat. You can't get it from muscle meat. So, if you are worried, don't eat liver, brain, kidney...

Your 1st point is true...however your 2nd point is not.
Even though the probability is very low, technically you can get variant CJD from eating any part of an infected animal including the muscle tissue. By far the highest concentration of infectous prions are found in nerve tissue,ie the brain and spinal cord.

Just to put things in perspective.......the odds of contracting VCJD(mad cow disease), even after consuming large quantities of infected beef, are still incredibly small.

Back in the 90's Britain did have a mad cow "epidemic" and a large percentage of the beef was infectious, especially the hamburger. The greater majority of Britain's 75 million residents consumed large quantities of infected beef for approximatly 9 years.
Out of that 75 million people only about 100 ever got the disease!
World wide only about 135 people have ever gotten the disease. And in the US only 3 have ever gotten the disease and all three of those lived in Britain for a while.
So someone else is welcome to calculate the odds but basically....even if you happened to eat an infected hamburger the odds are greater that you will die in a bicycle this week than from "mad cow " disease in your entire life!

While we are at it there is one more myth that needs to be corrected.
Back in the 90's some "scientist" got a lot of media attention when he started claiming that the incubation period for VCJD could be up to 30 years. This has since been proven wrong. If it were true we would be seeing larger numbers of cases every year. This is not the case....the number of new cases have dropped to almost zero anually worldwide!

As a final note....aside from the terrible loss of those that did die from this disease and the grief it caused their loved ones, the damage that this caused to hundreds of thousands of small farm and ranch families was truely devastating. Many were needlessly driven from the land to be replaced by large corporate run grain farms.

I think there is a lot of disinfo out there - especially from those with the agenda to get people to quit eating meat entirely. I still disagree that there is any evidence that a person can contract mad cow through muscle meat - unless it has somehow been contaminated. Same with E-coli. You don't get it from muscle meat. I'll put a site here as documentation, but frankly, I'm getting my info directly from close contacts in the beef industry. Meh - anyone worrying about mad cow in this country is being rather silly...especially when they are slurping down HFCS and artificial sweeteners, eating trans fats and the like.

I would suggest reading the article before commenting...OP's thread title has no corelation to the facts in the article.

No matter how you classify it, it is STILL a prion disease! I KNOW this is kept under wraps, because the last 3 cases I took care of were never reported. All in a large tertiary care center in the midwest. I really think people would want to know. It is such a horrible death, and completely incurable.

You're right and if you had put CJD in your title instead of Mad Cow Disease few people would know what it was.

Yes they are both a horrible prion diseases. However you wrongly jumped to the conclusion that beef was the cause.

CJD is a spontaneously occuring mutation that occurs in approximatly 1 out of 1 million mammals.fact.
Once an infected mammal(human or bovine etc) has this disease it can be tranfered to another mammal by transfering the infected (mutated) prions into another body. This can be done by eating parts of the infected body(google Kuru [link to en.wikipedia.org] or by blood transfusion or by improperly cleaned surgical instruments!
When a cluster of CJD appears it is often because of contaminated surgical instruments......most health care fascilities(eg privately run hospitals) do their damndest to keep outbreaks hushed up.

The reason that Britain had an epidemic of mad cow disease was because they were grinding up and feeding livestock parts that the human food chain was not using (eg the intestines bones etc) back to livestock in commercial feedlots. Thus it was just a matter of time before an infected animal was fed and pretty soon the whole problem was amplified and snowballed. This practice of feeding mammals back to mammals was immediately outlawed and stopped once this was understood.

I hope this helps OP.....I know you mean well and I agree that there is something seriously wrong with system that hides facts and truths from the general public, whether it is the govt or the medical profession or modern religions. It is high time that people who know the truth stand up and inform others.
