My dogs stomach is making loud gurgling noises.
Ok, I did some googling and found some useful information, but I'd like to hear some first-hand accounts from someone, assuming anyone here would know what is going on. He did go to the bathroom today and his poop was normal. He ate yesterday just fine. He did not eat at all today, but did drink some water. He appears normal and he has not been giving any human food. I walk my dog and I pick up his poop so the city doesnt get upset and like I said, the poop looked normal.....although he didnt poop a lot. Any ideas as to why his stomach might be gurgling so loud? Any ideas would be great. Thanks in advance.

Yes, I walk my dog. He doesnt want to go anywhere. As soon as he is finished, he wants to come back in. I used to own a house where I had a huge yard and he exercised a lot then, but the place I am living at now, I have to walk him. When spring/summer gets here I will walk him more, although this winter has been pretty bland. Btw, he has not passed gas or anything like that.

Dogs will eat anything that smells like bacon. Cook up some bacon, rip a slice into smaller pieces, and put them in his food dish. Pour a little bit (keyword: little) of the grease on top, and watch him eat the whole dish.

Re: My dogs stomach is making loud gurgling noises.
I have a new dog and freaked out when his stomach did that the first time. I was afraid it was Parvo...but it wasn't. He had major gas! You can give them gas x and Pepto. Google the dosage for your dogs weight. Make sure he is getting fluid and dont freak out if he isn't hungry. If he starts having the squirts or vomiting I'd take him to the vet asap. A big sign of Parvo is the awful smell and blood when your dog vomits or has the runs. Dogs get dehydrated very fast. Dogs die from Parvo because they get dehydrated. You can tell if he is dehydrated by looking at his gums, if his gums look white he is probably dehydrated. Best of luck to you. Hope your dog feels better soon!

Rice is a great idea btw....I'd leave the chicken out and use extra water in the rice to make a sorta rice soup. No spices or salt. Vet recommended this!

Re: My dogs stomach is making loud gurgling noises.
Ok.....I just googled how dogs get parvo. They get it from other infected dogs feces. See, now this scars me because for 13yrs of their lives they had a huge fenced in yard Well, I was recently evicted from my home due to a foreclosure. I had to move into the city and live with some friends. So now I have to walk my dogs and I have seen shit laying around where my dogs sniff it. I pull them away as fast as I can though. I will just have to stay in the yard where I am living at and let my dogs go to the bathroom there. Im not going to take any chances. Screw that. My dogs have lived a great life and for them to get sick by some other dog would be a fricken shame.

Don't want to scare you, but feel like I need to let you know about this, just in case. This began happening with our dog on occasions & we couldn't figure it out. The vet told us to give him Prilosec when it started acting up. This went on for at least 2 months & the frequency of it occurring increased. He had a history of Pancreatitis & we (including the vet) thought it was acting up, but couldn't figure out why. On Jan 23, 2012, he began vomiting during the middle of the night & became very ill. He spent most of the week in the vet hospital after we rushed him in & discovered he was in kidney failure. They had him on IV fluids to flush out the kidneys, but to no avail. The damage was done. We brought him home & he died in our arms on January 29th. We later discovered it was all due to feeding him what became his favorite treat the last few months of his life, Canyon Creek Ranch duck tenders (like jerky strips). He would get one each evening with his dinner. Canyon Creek Ranch, Waggin' Train & Milo's Kitchen jerky treats are all made in China & killing dogs right & left. We had no idea. It has been horrible discovering we were unsuspectingly feeding our baby something that destroyed his kidneys & caused his death. Have no idea what the reason is for your baby's problems, but thought I'd warn you about made in China treats, just in case. So many pet owners have no idea this is going on, just like we didn't. Do a search online about made in China jerky treats & you will be shocked. Those I mentioned are the TOP selling brands!

Re: My dogs stomach is making loud gurgling noises.
I had a dog that died a month ago of probable kidney failure and my guess is that it was due to the Purina dog food I had been feeding him. I looked up "Purina dog food complaints" and found plenty of complaints by owners of dogs that had identical symptoms as my dog.

If I get another dog I will either feed him/her natural foods or high end dog food like Evo or Orijen. I feel guilty as hell for not checking into this sooner. But keep in mind that these pet food companies don't have to adhere to any external federal standards - just their own internal standards. And when you file complaints, they don't care.

Re: My dogs stomach is making loud gurgling noises.
Put your hand on his heart and see if it is beating fast. Either he has a heart problem or he has cancer in the stomach.

My beautiful doberman used to drink and he gurgled like a clogged sink. His heart was racing cause he had heart disease and a large tumor on his side. He also stopped eating and stopped walking with me towards the end.

Perhaps he ate something or has a bone stuck inside. Don't feed dogs bones or chicken bones or pork bones or rib bones.

One of my dogs gets this a lot, always has, I think it's gas, but dogs don't always uh expel gas, or mine don't much. I usually give mine some yoghurt (wipe it on his tongue) and it seems to stop, they also like to eat a lot of grass, if their stomach is rumbling.

I appreciate you concern and words. I onl feed my dogs Purina dog food and do not give them any dog food treats. I give treats, but not dog food treats. I will give them some of the steak or chicken or cheese (food of that nature) that I am eating. I have never trusted dog treats. I hardly trust in dog food. About 4 yrs ago, I seriously thought about going all out and feding my dogs actual chicken and rice. I had it figured all out. I would buy a ton of chicken and rice for the month and cook up a few days to a weeks worth of food for them. I would freeze what was left and unfreeze and warm up what they needed for the day. Needless to say, I lost my job......then my car and truck....then my wife......then my house, LOL! So, the plan never came about.
