Latest news suggest that the eruption in Holuhraun might end in next few weeks. It’s power is dropping fast at the moment, so the feeding of the current eruption is coming to a end.

sure , Barda only consequence of Greenland shield destruction. now likely calm down after couple of months - its for lurkers
but next autumn or next few years with peak of melting everything can end in disaster

Haraldur Sigurdsson, volcanologist in Stykkisholmur, has repeated his estimation that the eruption at Holuhraun will end in the beginning of March.

General assessment: Although no significant changes in seismic and volcanic activity are observed from one day to the other, the overall activity has continued to decrease slowly in recent weeks. The last earthquake larger than magnitude 5 occurred two weeks ago. The daily number of earthquakes larger than magnitude 3, as well as the total number of detected earthquakes around the Bárðarbunga caldera, is now lower than it has been in previous months...

A strange contradiction with earlier news....

The Factsheet says:

"Insubstantial changes have been in the volcanic eruption in Holuhraun over the last few weeks."

A volcanologist, flying over the eruption says:

"It is clearly slowing down. We see that it had a major change in the last ten days. We have never seen before such a major change in such a short time. The walls have sunk in the crater for some ten to fifteen meters. There is much less liquid quantity of magma inside the craters themselves" volcanologist &#193;rmann H&#246;skuldsson says.

He points out that although the eruption reduces and could end there is still a lot of seismic activity around Bardarbunga.
"This eruption could come to an end in the coming weeks, but there might be a different activity" &#193;rmann H&#246;skuldsson says.

everything goes strictly by schedule which we have described here a very long time and a lot times
