CLEVELAND Chuginadak Island 52.825°N, 169.944°W; summit elev. 1730 m
AVO reported that on 28 March the Volcano Alert Level for Cleveland was raised to Watch and the Aviation Color Code was raised to Orange due to the formation of a new lava dome, observed in satellite imagery, which extruded in the summit crater during the previous week.

FUEGO Guatemala 14.473°N, 90.880°W; summit elev. 3763 m
INSIVUMEH reported that during 31 March-1 April and 3-4 April explosions from Fuego produced ash plumes that rose 500-800 m above the crater and drifted 10 km W and NW. During the night lava fountains rose 100-150 m above the crater and formed avalanches that traveled towards the Río Cenizas drainage.

ILIAMNA Southwestern Alaska 60.032°N, 153.090°W; summit elev. 3053 m
AVO reported that during 28 March-3 April seismicity at Iliamna remained above background levels, although just slightly, during 25-27 March. When not obscured by clouds, satellite and web camera views showed nothing unusual. The Alert Level remained at Advisory and the Aviation Color Code remained at Yellow.

LEWOTOBI Flores Island (Indonesia) 8.542°S, 122.775°E; summit elev. 1703 m
CVGHM reported that seismicity at Lewotobi Lakilaki, one of two stratovolcanoes comprising Lewotobi, fluctuated but declined overall during 18 September 2011-25 March 2012. No significant changes were observed at the volcano. The Alert Level was lowered to 1 (on a scale of 1-4) on 29 March.

NEVADO DEL RUIZ Colombia 4.895°N, 75.322°W; summit elev. 5321 m
According to INGEOMINAS, the Observatorio Vulcanológico and Sismológico de Manizales reported that during 24-31 March seismicity at Nevado del Ruiz increased significantly. Earthquakes indicating rock fracturing occurred W of Arenas crater, exhibiting a pattern observed prior to the eruptions in 1985 and 1989, although less energetic. Starting at 1054 on 29 March, and lasting for about 25 minutes, more than 135 earthquakes were detected S of Arenas crater at a depth of 4 km. At 0400 on 31 March earthquake signals indicating rock fracturing and fluid movement markedly increased. The Alert Level was raised to II (Orange; "eruption likely within days or weeks"). Seismicity remained elevated during 1-3 April; earthquakes were located below Arenas crater at depths between 0.5 and 3 km.

SOUFRIERE HILLS Montserrat 16.72°N, 62.18°W; summit elev. 915 m
MVO reported that during 24-30 March activity at the Soufrière Hills lava dome was generally at a low level and no ash-venting episodes had been detected since 23 March. The average sulfur dioxide emission rate measured during the week was 1,320 tonnes per day with a minimum of 264 and a maximum of 4,594, which was the third-highest value recorded in the last ten years. High values occurred between 24 and 26 March, averaging 2,550 tonnes per day over the three days. The average for the rest of the week was around 400 tonnes per day. The Hazard Level remained at 2.

SUNDORO Central Java (Indonesia) 7.30°S, 109.992°E; summit elev. 3136 m
CVGHM reported that seismicity at Sundoro continued to increase into January after the Alert Level was raised from 1 to 2 (on a scale of 1-4) on 5 December 2011. After the first week of January through 27 March the number of daily earthquakes significantly decreased. The Alert Level was lowered to 1 on 30 March

Whether the raised temperature of Askja lake is a precursor to a new eruption in the foreseeable future is speculation at this point

Excellent find. Especially valuable, because in this video is just clearly seen ONLY DISSAPEARING OF ICE [/b} on the surface of lake and clearly seen that around NOTHING IS CHANGED. What do you think, if the magma is really close to coming to the surface of the snow around and would have remained intact? Of course NOT! And whether Askja show at least some really serious changes if the tremor magma moves to the surface? Sure to be, but they are NOT!
So there is not yet over possible signs of receipt of geothermal waters, and not close to the eruption. Look at the Saurbaer chart

I saw in other thread that IMO going to establish the equipment for the necesary measurements and correspondingly argued conclusions. That is fully absent today. It's good decision, because before it all talks around Askja are very controversial speculations. But absence of other signs around really weird and unexplanable if we assume that the actual movement of magma to the surface.

the amount of thermal energy to heat 220 metres, or about 700 feet of water enough to start holes appearing in thick ice on top of it is staggering. where that hole is is simply the weak point of the ice, the centre of it. it is where it WOULD appear, so that heating is happening all over the lake, obviously, and that hole WILL get bigger.

Who said you that "220 metres was heated", it was measured? You are correctly marked " "simply weak point" in the centre of lake, where origin hole appeared.Ok. I see in vid that it was about February 27th. Do you know what caused this origin hole appearence? If, as you and some other guys sure, "heating of 220 metres" , I have some serious questions.
Why only hole ? The water, when it heating, alwaus has convection and mixing. And if it was heated from bottom, as you some other guys sure ( by close to surface magma ) why warm water made only this hole ? Geysir with very thick jet as in jacuzzi? I think it is impossible.
2. Ok, origin hole was made exactly as you have supposed, that is heating the water from the bottom (Although for me personally, it would seem much more likely under these circumstances, any other explanation - even the fall of the meteorite, though it rarely happens).
Let it be so. What we see then in vid? Some rise of hole whithout any changes around. Do you think that it possible, if , as you sure, water not simly heated, but even melted ice? Sure no, and that's why :
1. heated water, the more volume in 220 metrest depth , the more heated as to melt the ice, surrounded by ice isnega always gives clear visual signs that it really heated - vapour, mist, melting (must be more dark) of surrond snow, etc. I don't see it there.
2. You can see that a strong wind blows thre in March. It means after hole appearence ice had to break into a strong wind, to appear pile of ice on its surface, especially if the ice was thin due to heating from below. I don't see it , ice flat all time , no signs of wind influence.
3. Ok, there was short term heating wich caused hole , it absent in vid , but it was and that's why then hole rose and was no frozen. Let it be so. But again, why we don't see vapour, because temperatures were negative and the water was cooled ?

And a lot other very doubtful points in version of heating of all 220 metres from bottom to surface.

Of course, I also hav't proven reason why this hole appears. But I would have built on the basis of what we know so far and have seen speculation in the other direction, and they would be at least no less plausible than the heating of the entire water column.
Finally - sure - only measurements at place can clear real reason of this event. What's the funniest thing - or may not clarify anything, neither the heating did not find any other reason, it is also very likely situation.

I also had my own theory, is no worse than heating.
EQs => a crack => salvo emission of volcanic gases with hydrogen sulfide => the melting of ice and a swimming pool for tourists to the brim poured sulfuric acid.
Add: at a concentration of 75% sulfuric acid freezes at
-41C temperature. Why not explain? ))

Overview of current events in Askja volcano

The current events in Askja volcano started in Week 9 of the year 2010. Before that, Askja volcano has been showing signs of change since the year 2007 at least. In the year 2010, Week 9 a earthquake swarm was recorded by Iceland Meteorological Office. Most of the earthquakes where at around 20 km depth, and it was followed by considerable amount of harmonic tremor activity. I did know about it at the time, but I did think it would be at least 10 to 20 years until Askja volcano would not erupt. But this might have been a event in an series of event that started long time ago, without me knowing about it before (I am still checking data, it takes some time)....
