Here's something I just found out about Iceland - some scientists ( [link to books.google.ru] for example) think that the ongoing fixed hotspot at Iceland was also the original source of the Siberian Traps . There doesn't appear, at least to an amateur, to be widespread agreement about this, but if it is the case, that puts Iceland way beyond supervolcano status - even Yellowstone - in terms of volume erupted. Awesome!
