Earthquakes in that area can reach M=7.0 and in the right place (Aachen, Maastricht, Liege, Cologne..) and time it can cause (big) destruction. Media seems to give this area very few attention while it’s far more likely to happen than an eruption in the Eifel. The biggest earthquake North of the Alps happened in 1692, M=6.5, in Verviers just south of liege. Although the recent activity in Limburg is normal. I don’t know if the earthquake activity in the eifel area is normal.
