Laguna del Maule volcanic complex (1 to 28 February)
The volcano's activity level changes to:
YELLOW LEVEL: Changes in the behavior of volcanic activity - Time
probable eruption: months / years.
Based on the analysis of the information obtained from the monitoring equipment and
monitoring of the volcano, the National Service of Geology and Mining (SERNAGEOMIN) -
Volcano Observatory of the Southern Andes (OVDAS), communicates the following:
- During this period there were one hundred twenty-seven (127) earthquakes, of which one hundred and three
(103), called volcano-tectonic (VT), were associated with rock fracturing, with
local magnitude (ML) equal and less than 1.7, the largest magnitude earthquake was located 20 km
east-southeast (ESE) of the lagoon with a depth less than 20 km...
Whereas seismic activity continues volcanic surface features (<5
Km depth) in the area of Laguna del Maule volcanic complex, with record
seismic swarms and episodes of tremor of medium to high intensity, associated with
continuity of a deformation process at levels considered high, which implies
activity and pressurizing fluid into the system, changing the alert level
YELLOW LEVEL volcanic.
