ANOTHER ONE!!! IVAN VOLCANO!!! Ivan the Terrible Volcano, located on the island Iturup Kuril Archipelago (Pacific Ocean), today began ejecting ash, according to the Ministry for Emergency Situations of Russia.

"We have received information that at 18.55 local time began spewing ash" Ivan the Terrible volcano, the statement said Emergency department management of the island of Sakhalin, the Kuril belonging.

In one of the communities adjacent to the city of Kurilsk, which is located about 25 kilometers from the volcano, we have detected a two-millimeter layer of ash.

"There is no threat to the population," the statement said, adding that no details about a possible eruption of 1,159 meters.

In August 2012 Ivan the Terrible and spewed ash and, unlike today, in the nearby town perceived the smell of hydrogen sulphide discharged by the volcano.

Previous eruptions of the mountain in 1968, 1973 and 1989 did not cause damage to the island, whose sovereignty is also claimed by Japan.

The Kuriles, where only several thousand people live in mostly military-and their families-are part of the volcanic chain that extends to the Kamchatka Peninsula, the most seismically active area of Russia and encompassing 12% of the activity volcanic world.

The Grozny volcano group in central Iturup Island contains the complex volcanoes of Ivan Grozny and Tebenkov. The former has a 3-3.5 km diameter caldera that is open to the south, where the large, 1158-m-high andesitic Grozny extrusion dome (also known as Etorofu-Yake-yama) was emplaced. Several other lava domes of Holocene age were constructed to the NE; extrusion of these domes has constricted a former lake in the northern side of the caldera to an extremely sinuous shoreline. The forested andesitic Tebenkov volcano, also known as Odamoi-san, lies immediately to the NE of the Grozny dome complex. The large Machekh crater, which displays strong fumarolic activity, lies immediately south of Tebenkov. Historical eruptions, the first of which took place in 1968, have been restricted to Ivan Grozny. [link to www.volcano.si.edu]

so it's fresh news only for volcanocafe, not here tounge

continuing educational course for the ladies from there tounge
(it's not from GVP educational program , if's a little more ohyeah )

i says lol
ash emissions was insignificant, the smell of hydrogen sulfide was not felt (except Iturup, where it was only last night but very weak)
ash looked like a very fine dust.
the city Kurilsk : thickness of ash reached 2 millimeters. generally release was very minor.
the last time before Ivan the Terrible awoke in August 2012. then there was phreatic eruption (especially for beginners: gas emissions without going lava)
