basing on yesterday's NASA say shot (no fresh) still can not say anything definite, we can only note some interesting details
[link to lance-modis.eosdis.nasa.gov]
firstly, relatevely stable cloud formations (fixed breaks) to the south-east of Grimsey . i.e. in area of shallow eqs and main swarm . sometimes such formations indicates underwater processes.
then, to the north from Grimsey, where no clouds, there is even a small but visible change in color of the ocean surface.
finally, to the east and south-east from swarm area visible cloud formations similar to the so-called "heralds" earthquake precursors. there is a formula to calculate the intensity of the coming earthquake in length like cloud formations (experienced seismologists forecast is confirmed by her quite well). in this case, the intensity and the area of these formations is small, so if trust in this predictor in the TFZ very strong earthquakes in the future is not expected (though IMO seems to be a different opinion - they write on their website that it is possible the continuation of strong shocks and spread to the south-east)

A lot of cracks appeared in the territory as a result of volcano, one of the cracks spread out over 2 km

Baku. Kamala Guliyeva – APA. Akhtarma-Pashali volcano in Hajigabul region of Azerbaijan has erupted, head of the ANAS Institute of Geology's Mud Volcano Department Adil Aliyev told APA.
He said the eruption was recorded on April 1. The scientists of the Institute of Geology have carried out research in the area:
“This is one of the largest volcanoes of Azerbaijan. Volcano is located 35 km from Shirvan city - in the south-eastern Shirvan. The volcano erupted for the first time in 1948, this is the 7th eruption.”
Aliyev said that along with mud the eruption also spouted a great deal of various rocks. “The volcano mud covered 18 hectares, the total area is 220 000 cu m. The average thickness of the spouted material is 120 cm. A lot of cracks have appeared as a result of the volcano. One of them is too big. It spread out over 2 km. The depth of the crack is 2 m, width between 30 – 80 cm. At present the volcano has calmed down. Usually flames are observed when mud volcanoes erupt. No flame is observed in this volcano,” he said.
According to the department chief, the diameter of the volcano is about 10 sq km meters: “Several volcanic areas separated from each other are located in the crater of eruption. Every time eruption occurs in a separated volcanic area. 21 percent of mud volcanoes in Azerbaijan pull a lot of oil out of surface. This volcano is also spewing oil. Oil soaked into all wastes. It should be noted that there was also oil shale. All of them will be studied in the laboratory and concrete information about the oil and gas resources of the area will be obtained after the tests.”

Since yesterday afternoon, there has been a series of explosions at Etna's New Southast Crater, some of them rather powerful, with loud detonations heard in most population centers around the volcano. These are discrete events, currently occurring at a rather slow rhythm of about 1-2 explosions per hour. Obviously, this seems to be the "prelude" to yet another episode of lava fountaining, though so far we don't see the acceleration of all monitored parameters (especially the volcanic tremor amplitude) that usually heralds a paroxysm, and it might still be many hours away. Or, if Etna feels like playing one of her games with us, she could go on for days with these explosions; we've seen it all before ...

hello, my friend!
how are you with your searchs for the correct values fall Strain, which is bound to come eruption?
my answer on your question helped you? something you did not respond to it, so I'm asking ....
By the way, noticed that vc the day before, when there was that fall, vowed that after the next day will take place several earthquakes near Hecla? why still no and no ?... what do you think ?

that page has a few of the precursors to the 2000 eruption. I am sure I read somewhere, maybe on VC I don't know that if the negative strain gets down to the -e+5 range we'll be close to an eruption. I can't remember where I read it though. I'm sure it was Carl who said it, but I might be wrong. I'm still trying to find where i read it.

[link to hraun.vedur.is]

at current rates it'll get down to -e+5 area in about 8 days

did find this post by Carl..

[link to volcanocafe.wordpress.com]

As mountain strain builds up the likelyhood of earthquakes increase over time.

as the strain drops, keep an eye out for earthquakes

just found this post by him too..

-4e+05 is a lot of negative strain.
Something is moving, but where and what totally eludes me.
But, it was really interesting to see how much the 2.0 at Torfajökull influenced the tremorgraph for the Hekla Borehole graph. I seriously wonder which volcano is causing that imense transient.

one thing's certain, these transients are central to any eruption, along with relatively small quakes.

be interesting to see if this transient keeps going over the next few days. Also Carl was convinced in this post..

[link to www.jonfr.com]

..that it would erupt by March 2012, so I don't know.

but here's another example, do not long remember - just with Hekla strain, which was discussed.

details: three days ago, spirit (i wrote anagram , easy to guess whom it's this spirit tounge) stated that after the fall of Hekla's strain will have several earthquakes with ampitude about 2 points.
Well, as they took place? (i've already asked you about this, above, but apparently only a great love for the said "school" forbidden to give you an answer - as usual tounge).
No, nothing happened.
and why? i also have written about this

there are of course people who describe exactly what will happen to the instrument readings for the day, two-hour, hour, five minutes...tounge
(but i'll tell you a big secret: it's noodles on the ears, no one knows exactly ohyeah )
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 37533744

why? ask any volcanologist, and you'll have always true answer : volcanoes generally are unpredictable, all instrumental data always give only a general idea about the process inside and rate, but at the same time each eruption is unique.

That noise ...
Here is a short bit of video that I recorded during the climax of the powerful episode of lava fountaining (paroxysm) at Etna's New Southeast Crater on the afternoon of 3 April 2013:
[link to www.flickr.com]
...
The detonations were heard over a vast area around Etna, including Catania, nearly 30 km away. My wife told me that in our home in Tremestieri Etneo, 20 km south of the crater, the detonations were rather powerful, much louder than the din of the traffic on the nearby main road of the village. The loud bangs caused astonishment and apprehension among many inhabitants of the Etna area.

returning to the game of questions and answers tounge

why is this such a paroxysm was accompanied by an unusually strong roar that even Boris (best expert who has lived there for decades and watched hundreds of paroxysms) noted:
" in reality it is still there and
possibly bigger than ever before"
"That noise ..."

(links above)

what determines the volume and features of the sounds of the eruption?

(tooltip: remember the general physics, hydrodynamics and acoustics)

to consider the question for discussion over cap of coffee welcome (specialized knowledge is not too required) tounge

experts are silent or in dreams... then why not continue tounge

tnen now a little bit fearmongering (very little) tounge
exactly the same as just one drop of sauce can greatly improve the taste of food served, as well as serious and scientifically based information from time to time are useful to mix with small additions of fantasies - science without imaginations would not have moved forward at all tounge

after yesterday (want-believe it, want - no that it was actually after)
i asked here question about very unusual sounds of last Etna eruption (above)
i read
[link to www.wired.com]
Another day, another paroxysm at Etna. This one was quite spectacular event in the new Southeast Crater — Dr. Boris Behncke captured some of the splendid lava fountaining from this eruption. Interestingly, he noted that the most impressive feature of this paroxysm, the 34th since the start of 2011, was the sound

and was even a little shocked at how much in the same direction seems we think about...

meanwhile, anyone noticed how the tremor pattern changed after the eruption ?

The seismic signal is quite strange to look at, quite a lot seems to be happening underground...

[link to www.wired.com]
Etna has been full of surprises in 2013. Beyond the multitude of lava fountaining events the volcano has produced over the last few months, the Italian volcano surprised everyone by having a truly explosive (vulcanian) eruptions since yesterday (April 8). The eruption produced a dark grey plume but little to nothing in the way of lava fountains and flows. This is typical for vulcanian eruptions, where volcanic material is fragmented into ash, lapilli and bombs (the catch-all term is "tephra"), but dominated by fine ash. The explosions from these eruptions can be discrete "booms" that sound like canon fire. This video of the vulcanian explosions at Etna show the “shot” from the new Southeast Crater (check out this view as well)

These eruptions are typically caused by material clogging the throat of the volcano until pressure builds to sufficient levels to force the blockage out as an explosive. Strombolian eruptions, which is what we more typically see at Etna, are formed by rapid exsolution of large bubbles in magma within the conduit of the volcano, so that is why they are accompanied by lava fountains and flows, unlike the vulcanian explosion like today’s events

...However, we have seen Vulcanian explosions also heralding a number of earlier paroxysms, only that these latest ones are quite powerful, more than usually. This fits well with the overall increase in explosivity of the recent paroxysms, which have been among the most violent eruptive events at Etna in recent decades...
...That's the fun thing. If anything, Etna's magmas have become more primitive (or mafic) in recent years and decades, and at the same time the activity has become more voluminous, more frequent, and more explosive. The trick is the gas - mostly water vapor, which seems to be the main factor that makes Etna's eruptions explosive, actually much more explosive than one would expect from a basaltic volcano. Think that Etna emits about one million tons of water vapor EVERY DAY, and that's water vapor from the Earth's mantle... more rapid magma ascent reduces the amount of differentiation in the magma and therefore it retains more of its original mafic characteristics. Some of the most explosive eruptions in Etna's recent (past few millennia) eruptive history have also been the most "primitive", magmatically speaking ...

volcanophile Boris Behncke • 5 hours ago −
Thanks a lot for the explanations.... But it all seems a bit worrying, isn't it? Is Etna priming itself for one of those big "primitive" violent events?

MDAT volcanophile • 5 hours ago −
Those are generally subduction based volcanoes, and the setting Etna is in is more like a slab window. It is more likely that it will produce basalt. If there was any change in composition,I would vouch for basaltic andesite. So more water vapor could be the cause of more explosive eruptions because Etna has a more efficient magmatic system than before.

While I have enjoyed a deep, restful sleep this night, Etna has continued producing small to medium sized explosions, some Strombolian, some Vulcanian (like Strombolian, these are discrete, isolated bursts but with a lot more ash), without, however, showing any signs of building up for a new episode of lava fountaining (paroxysm)...
Taken at 04:00 GMT (=local time -2) on 10 April 2013 - exactly 2 years after one of the earliest paroxysms from the New Southeast Crater. The view is from my home in Tremestieri Etneo, 20 km to the south:

finally, to the east and south-east from swarm area visible cloud formations similar to the so-called "heralds" earthquake precursors. there is a formula to calculate the intensity of the coming earthquake in length like cloud formations (experienced seismologists forecast is confirmed by her quite well). in this case, the intensity and the area of these formations is small, so if trust in this predictor in the TFZ very strong earthquakes in the future is not expected (though IMO seems to be a different opinion - they write on their website that it is possible the continuation of strong shocks and spread to the south-east)

Watching you
Etna's New Southeast Crater passed pretty much of this day (10 April 2013) producing small explosions with emission of ash plumes, and ejection of rock fragments, and in the evening small Strombolian explosions occurred every few minutes. It seems pretty certain that this is the "prelude" to yet another episode of lava fountaining, a paroxysm, but many hours, maybe even a day or more, might pass until we'll see the activity accelerate and culminate in a new paroxysm.
... these two little red "eyes" are still visible. They will almost certainly disappear with the next paroxysm, though.

Etna is almost certainly building up for her next episode of lava fountaining (paroxysm), but it might still take many hours until the event. In the meantime, I've taken a photograph of the active New Southeast Crater in a moment of quiescence, with two little glowing fumaroles on the crater rim, which render a rather eerie impression.

and if there is not as priority task vc's promotion , sure in such approach is not anything abnormal or could offend.
in addition, how could you make sure, i have my point of view is quite detailed support

I so rarely see these calderas listed on the ranks of major eruptions which shows indeed how limited the science is. I know it is far from scientific but simple caldera size is a reason I'm not ready to implicate Rinjani for 1258. If the math from the residue is correct, we've got something beyond Tambora or Krakatau. I can see for myself what happened to those latter two. Rinjani's crater just doesn't seem big enough.. I have read a few articles mentioning the cluster theory, and the latter idea might have its evidence somewhere under the Pacific.

John Seach just posted that a certain volcano may be waking up but, but its rumbled before without an actual eruption. Just posting for its historical rememberance:
Saturday 6th April 2013

Tambora Volcano, Indonesia

Tambora volcano, Indonesia was raised to level 2 alert (waspada) on 5th
April 2013, after an increase in seismic activity. Tambora is one of the
world's most dangerous volcanoes. In 1815 it produced the world's
largest historic explosive eruption with the loss of 117,000 lives. The
most recent eruption is not well documented, but occurred about 1967. A
magnitude 6.1 earthquake hit 29 km NE of the summit of Tambora volcano
on 8th May 2010. During 2004 a buried town was discovered near the
volcano. It has been called the Pompeii of the East because of the preservation of human artefacts.

An eruption not to forget: Tambora (April 10th 1815)
Today April 10th marks the anniversary of the eruption of Tambora volcano on April 10th 1815. This eruption should be remembered as it caused what was called “The Year without a Summer” in 1816. That year, cold and cloudy conditions killed crops across the Northern Hemisphere. The volcano had been quiet for some 5,000 years. It woke up around 1812, culminating in the April 10th, 1815 eruption which dumped an estimated 160 cubic kilometres of material onto the surrounding countryside and into the air. By some estimates, it was the largest volcanic eruption in recorded history.

Subject: Special Bulletin Activity Volcano Nevado del Ruiz.

LEVEL YELLOW or (III): CHANGES IN THE BEHAVIOR OF VOLCANIC ACTIVITY

With regard to the monitoring of the activity of the Nevado del Ruiz volcano, the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Manizales, reports that:

From 02:18 (local time) on Sunday April 10, began to register a signal of continuous volcanic tremor, which persists until the time of issue of this newsletter. This signal is similar to that recorded between 8 and 21 March 2013, however this new episode of tremor has a lower energy level that occurred in the month of March. It is important to remember that this type of seismicity is associated with emissions and / or ash. The photographs captured by webcams installed in the volcano area, allowed to observe a column height of 1600 m directed toward the northwest, and do not rule out the presence of particulate matter (ash) in it.
