well you certainly have the right attitude...

and yeah i think you could, if you ste your mind to it.

anything the human mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.
 Quoting: thetrickybigguy

I know two people that have done it. Their wives got tired of it though. But you're right again Tricky. If we put our minds and hearts in it we can achieve pretty much anything we want. Or at least try it and see if it works out the way we want.

More people should control their fears and give life a try. They might find something they like about it.

i agree 100% cappy.

And just for the record *inserts big grin here* not all wives would "get tired of it!" In fact, there's one here that would absolutely love it!

Not me, OP... living off the grid would be tough, I have not illusions... but I think the simple way of life would be exhilarating, healthy and family oriented! But I think I understand what you mean :)

Look OP, Heres the facts....The local people suspect that he is a young man kicked out of one of the religious poligimist groups. The old guys kick the young ones out to keep the stock with women rich. The local cabin owners know this.

The local cabin owers also dont think this guy is a criminal, but a nuisance. Noone has ever seen him in person.

The locals do not believe the trashed camps are his either. They believe the trashed camps belond to dooms day isolationists based on the trash. Only the cops are trying to tie this guy to them because they have NO evidence, just spreading false lies and rumors to try to excite the people in the area.

The only stupid people who believe that this guy is dangerous, are the same ones who are trying to tye him to break ins of cabins within a 1,000 (one THOUSAND) mile radius. This is fucking redicilous of the highest order.

This guy is not living off stealing from cabins. There are reports of cabin owners who actually stated that he broke innto their homes, laid their guns out on the beds and did not "borrow"them because they were not good enough.

This guy even leaves goods and weapons behind after he uses them.

He is a borrower, plain and simple. The selfish ones are the people who think a piece of paper gives them rights to a mountain, and a lock gives them rights to shit they leave laying around for months, unsupervised.

reports of destruction in cabins and shooting up cabins is propaganda by authorities who are desperately attempting to get people in the area afraid inn a attempt to get people to help the cops get this guy because all the cops are tooo stupid to get this guy after 5 years...LOL...and maybe God is on is side, cause the stupid law enforcement and Wildlife Management types are too stupid to even find a trace of him unless he lays it out for them on a red velvet carpet in the snow.....

Hunters have reported seeing footprints as close as 30 feet fro them in the remote wilderness in 4 feet of snow.....so ,for all you farts saying he is dangerous, just think about that....he is able to be 30 feet fromm you in the snow....anfd chooses to observe and not attack...

This guy is not a criminal....society is the criminal...and stupid people like Brief are willfully ignorant.

You'd be surprised at how accurately people can see right through you with a single sentence.

For example, when you say "I like to fuck dogs", people can immediately tell you're a dog fucker.

Now get off the Internet and go break into someone's cabin.

I hope you don't think I was inferring that all women are like them. Not at all. No way. I probably have met more men that would run kicking and screaming for the closest McDonald's or gin mill after a couple of weeks work in paradise.

Just so you know, one guy was my cousin. He lived in the woods on 600 acres in Minnesota, caught rabbits and fished and built himself an awesome Scandinavian style log house by himself. The kind where the logs are stood vertically instead of stacked horizontally. Problem was he was married to a "city woman" who just couldn't "hang" (NOTHING against "city women"!). The other was a very close friend in Vermont and they had real tough winters. They lived off the grid, but because of finances, she still had to go in to work every day and their driveway was miles long. In both cases things got tough when they got pregnant and they were just too used to the conveniences and amenities of the "modern world".

With your attitude I'd think you'd do great. From what I heard anyway. Maybe we'll be neighbors someday. Trade ya a bucket of tater's for some firewood type of thing...

Wow, society really is sunk. You can say this with a straight face? Borrowing is with permission. Stealing is when you take something you do NOT have ownership of without permission from another poor soul. Isn't it sad that there is actually confusion as to what theft is? Breaking into someone else's home and feeling justified... seriously. Taking anything you think is "good enough" for stealing from someone else is okay? Ya, be prepared folks, you will have to defend what you have worked so hard to get. There really are those out there who think just like this. Well, there is also those of us who live what we preach everyday and the mountains we live on have toughened us enough to keep it. Remember, these thieves who cannot find it in the personalities to work for what they have like the rest of us have had to, don't have the stamina to take yours either ;-) I will be here to defend it.

Sincerely, Acclimated :-)

Yes Drama Queen,

Lets compare a castaway from a polygimast village with no birth certificate and working skills (probably) trying to survive in the remote wilderness, to your surburban concept of right and wrong?

Is it right that a can of food is sitting in a million dollar cabin in the remote wilderness of Utah, only to be visited once a year by a millionaire and his fat wife who could really care less....and a person stand outside in the snow and starve to death because a lock stands in the way of life and death?

Yes society has went down the tubes, because of people like you. Not one cabin owner has stated anything negative about this guy in the media, only authorities, but you pass so much judgement of this scenario through your rose colored glasses.

I am very glad you sit behind a keyboard and spill your lost views, and are not inn a position of authority...I bet you say your a Christian too, huh...LOL

I'm white, go with that maybe?

Did you miss your latest OWS rally where you and your lib/socialist friends hate anyone who works for what they have and feel entitled to take it? Wouldn't life be grand if the only work anyone had to do was daily theft for everything they want? Heck, let's start murdering for it because by george how dare someone have something and "i" (meaning you) want it. No morals, no reasoning with you. Only one thing I can think of that will "protect" me and my family from people like you. ;-)

Deranged, and yet there are those who can't even see this? Why is he kicking others of HIS mountain... teeheehee, sounds like liberal shit to me. Confusion as to the owner, geez. Re: Mountain man scares owners of remote Utah cabins, leaves note warning, 'Get off my mountain'
This guy claims the whole stinking mountain is HIS, yet you have a problem with the person who paid for their property. Get off HIS mountain, seriously. Deranged, and yet there are those who can't even see this? Why is he kicking others of HIS mountain... teeheehee, sounds like liberal shit to me. Confusion as to the owner, geez. How dare someone paid for their property, uphold the thief by any means!

You say it sounds like "liberal shit" to you.....OK Lets look at the definition of that word....

Liberalism (from the Latin liberalis)[1] is the belief in the importance of liberty and equal rights

And you disgusting, hedonistic fool, are against that concept of liberty and equal rights.....your a stuipdass....now I am sure you will come back with some self descriptive definition of liberal but it wont be the definition of the word, just your twisted concept of the word.....

I am done with MOM....I cant argue with stupid.....See ya mountain trailer trash....I am sure the Mountain Man would pass on your dwelling....as fromm the photos, he seems to have a propensity to borrow only quality items and clothes...not redneck overalls, and corn cob pipes....

You have batted 1000 on being wrong in everything you spew. Mr. Suburbia with "suburbia" thoughts (Didn't you say something like that about me earlier). Oh how wrong you've "guessed". Game over, you lose. Come see me sometime ;-) especially after shtf and the laws we now live under no longer protect the thieves and immoral. You'll be shocked to see how I live, I'll give you a hint... it's nothing like you've "guessed" so far.

Quit trying to label everyone you disagree with. I told you earlier, I'm white, that was your freebie for attacking me. Oh, geez, that's where you came up with the "white trash" name calling... wow, how original. Sorry, nothing like it.

I agree with you again Tricky. First THIS makes sense, then THAT makes sense. Like "you have the clothes on your back, the tools you need to survive, and everything else you own is an example of your arrogance". BUT, you worked for all that stuff so...

Pass the popcorn...

thanks for the link mom, good stuff for sure.

this the one?

Tim J. was the first of several readers to send us this: Mystery mountain man to Utah cabin owner: Get off my mountain. [JWR's Comment: Here is yet another example of the mainstream media misusing the term "survivalist." By definition, a survivalist is someone who trains and prepares in advance for self-sufficiency to overcome disasters. Backwoods burglars have to steal because they haven't prepared in advance and because they lack self-sufficiency skills. Ditto for Eric Rudolph, who was also mislabeled as a survivalist. If he had been a real survivalist, he wouldn't have to be scrounging in grocery store dumpsters--which is how he got spotted and arrested.]
