Help with dog care ... ANY DOG OWNER'S ON HERE ...

He'll be fine as long is it's above 55 degrees (farenheit, of course). Puppies like to chew on chords, so electric heaters on the floor aren't a great idea. Dogs aren't as cold natured as humans. Sometimes mine get off the bed and on the tile to cool of with the air set at 70f.

Our dogs use sleeping bags....

A heat lamp hanging over his sleeping area, well out of his reach should keep him quite comfortable (according to human standards) without too much expense.

If the dog is still a pup ..you can do this without having to get electrical heating for him. Make a cardboard dog house and put it in the kitchen..i did exactly that with a few of my dogs. I was recommended this by a vet years ago..the cardboard box will in close his body heat and it will be sufficient and you can put a blanket over the cardboard portion of the dog house..to giver it extra insulation.

If the dog is older then 6 months..you probably dont need to do any of that besides a little bed with warm thick fabric making up the doggy bed...that holds heat in it as well.

Unless it gets real cold in the kitchen? Remember dogs are able to withstand cold much better then us.

put in microwave for 8 min. Will put out 8 hours of heat. Dog can chew it but won't hurt it.

ok its indoors, how cold are we talking?? -60-65 degrees? it will be fine...are you sure you are up to this responsibility?? that new puppy feeling fades quickly, then your left with quite the anchor...they are pretty cool, but a ton of work and responsibility.

about 4c at the mo ... the fecking house isnt fat off either , but heating is so expesive ... we only really use the living room and bedroom , and the kitchen is an extention of the living room , but i have hung sheets inbetween to keep the heat in the living room ...with cloths on the kitchen is fine and he does have a coat ... but i want to be warm and just not alright ... so i think im gona get a heater , but what is most efficiant ... i heard space heaters are good although i dont know much about them

im getting the dog off a breeder and a few of my friends have the same dogs , i know all about the breed and they are great dogs , its just my mates house is fecking boiling , and ours is cold ... but we are ok , its private rented and the landlord wont to anything to sort the house out and ive put enough money into this place ..so im not doing any more .. but im commited , i love dogs dont worry its not some fecking 1 week and dump at the local dogs home ...he is family

Get him one of those cute fleece dog igloos, sold in all stores. THey love them and their own body heat will warm the inside.

your kitchen is just above freezing?? -and you do realize dogs are quite expensive...you might want to rethink this whole thing. One trip to the vets could heat your house up the entire winter and then some...

electric Oil heater, remember they heat slow but maintain the temp once it gets warm.

On a side note I’d never get a pure bread again, last one I got cost me 5k in vet bills in the first year alone. Rescue a dog...

you get indoor dog houses that will keep your doggie warm.. have some blankets, a pillow etc in there and maybe even a carpet in front of the opening to keep the heat inside

good advice...britsih bull terriers are an awesome breed..they do have short fur(no double coat) and feel the cold..youve obviously decided he wont be a bedroom dog.

the cardboard box/igloo ideas are great for trapping bodywarmth/insulation and are good also for giving the dog theyre own personal space they know is ok for them to be in .

you can also buy heat padsthat are placed under their bedding, but it really does depend on how cold your house gets and it does get cold over there...personally if its too cold for me to not have heaters on id not let a dog suffer the cold either.

oh and if you can raise the bed of the floor...lino is better than tiles etc but its still very drafty down there too.

They have heated dog pads/ beds, make sure you look for puppy

yeah they have so much character , i really like them , problem is he is only a pup ... one he is house trained he will come up stairs with us ... no problem

My Greyhound has a very thin single coat of fur and in the colder weather she loves a nice plush blanket and that's all she needs. She will actually totally be covered and stay that way all night.

bit of advice on toilet training?i kept my dogs as pups next to my bed..toilet training is easiest if you remeber to take them out and use a cue(like "toilet" or "go pee" or whatever) and them praise them and repeat the cue word once theyve been...it works best if your on to it...watch them..when they start sniffing around and looking take them outside..remeber to take them outside and encourage them every hour to few hours.

I kept my pups next to me in their bed if they were really young id set alarms, sometimes too being so close theyd whimper when they needed to go adn i could be onto it..its much better to not let them go inside andd praise them for going outside, it actually makes them learn toilet training quicker...rather than giving them a whole night to learn the habit of peeing in the corner.Good habits behaviours are repeated and sink in quicker if its not a negative experience..so if you praise him for going outside (and not sert him up to fail by leaving him in too long)he ll retain that experience much quicker, and and a nicer housedog much quicker!
