Is MSN story describing Prophesy from the Bible?
There are actually several prophesies in the bible about flowers that do not normally bloom in the desert growing in abundance in the end times.

Israel is now a major exporter of rare and exotic flowers not native to the climate.

Here is an MSN story that just crossed about ancient flower gardens that have just been revitalized.

The article is titled, "Ancient biblical gardens bloom again"

[link to www.msnbc.msn.com]

Here is a description of some of the passages referring to this.

Israel's deserts will become like the Garden of Eden

Bible passage: Isaiah 51:3
Written: perhaps between 701-681 BC
Fulfilled: Being fulfilled now

In Isaiah 51:3, the prophet said that God will restore Israel and make it a paradise, like the garden of Eden. This foreshadows what is currently happening in Israel. The jewish people have been irrigating, cultivating and reconditioning the land during much of the 1900s. Many of the country's swamps, which had been infested with malaria, have been converted into farmland. And water from the Sea of Galilee has been channeled through portions of the deserts, allowing some of the deserts to bloom. Much work remains, but parts of Israel are blooming again. Although it was described as a wasteland as recently as the late 1800s, Israel is now a food source for many countries. And at least 200 million of trees have been planted there during the past century.

Re: Is MSN story describing Prophesy from the Bible?
Only one of the most awesome of the biblical prophecies, where the mighty angel splits the Mount of Olives forming a river that flows into the Dead Sea. Then it returns back to like the Garden of Paradise again. All of the destruction that the burning of Sodom and Gomorrah left will be reversed and this land will be inhabited again...

The original foundations of the buildings in the vast area that was once highly populated ARE STILL THERE. They will be utilized again.

Google earth the Dead Sea and look closeley and you can still see road, highways, large cities, ancient farmlands, and all kinds of things. Just follow a main road and explore for hours and hours.

Isn't that wild!

Zech.14
[1] Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.
[2] For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
[3] Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.
[4] And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
[5] And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.
[6] And it shall come to pass in that day, that the light shall not be clear, nor dark:
[7] But it shall be one day which shall be known to the LORD, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light.
[8] And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be.
[9] And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.
[10] All the land shall be turned as a plain from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem: and it shall be lifted up, and inhabited in her place, from Benjamin's gate unto the place of the first gate, unto the corner gate, and from the tower of Hananeel unto the king's winepresses.
[11] And men shall dwell in it, and there shall be no more utter destruction; but Jerusalem shall be safely inhabited.
[12] And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.
[13] And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great tumult from the LORD shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour.
[14] And Judah also shall fight at Jerusalem; and the wealth of all the heathen round about shall be gathered together, gold, and silver, and apparel, in great abundance.
[15] And so shall be the plague of the horse, of the mule, of the camel, and of the ass, and of all the beasts that shall be in these tents, as this plague.
[16] And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
[17] And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.
[18] And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the LORD will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
[19] This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
[20] In that day shall there be upon the bells of the horses, HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD; and the pots in the LORD's house shall be like the bowl's before the altar.
[21] Yea, every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah shall be holiness unto the LORD of hosts: and all they that sacrifice shall come and take of them, and seethe therein: and in that day there shall be no more the Canaanite in the house of the LORD of hosts.

No massive irrigation has been going on in the region now for many years. Israel is now a major exporter of flowers and produce. This has nothing to do with the , "Is Israel good or bad debate." Rather, I was just point out that it was written thousands of years ago that the deserts would bloom with flowers there and they are now.

This is the remains of downtown Sodom at the south end of the Dead Sea.

Follow the main road, look CLOSE for all of the building foundations that remain all the way to the Red Sea.

This was a highly populated, very lush place before the catastrophy. It turned everything into desert south of it when before it was very productive land...It will be back.

I think many of us, myself included, were brought up in households that were too religious.

For myself, I rebelled against all religion when I got to college. For this reason I have not wanted to entertain the idea of prophesies in the bible coming true.

However, as I got more into researching prophesies and end times events, the number of accurate predictions is quite impressive.

do a little search about the fight for water in middle east and you will understand what i'm saying.

do you think it is clever to irrigate a land of sand like this or it is pure waste of water somehow?

I read a book back in 70's called "The lean years". It went into great detail about the water shortages in the middle east. Turkey can now dry up the euphrates and tigress. And The nile flow north and thru egypt. It can be dried up in central africa. Botht those rivers are prophesied to dry up at some point.

Wrong Israel/Jerusalem, OP.

Zechariah 14:8 And in that day it shall be That living waters shall flow from Jerusalem, Half of them toward the eastern sea And half of them toward the western sea; In both summer and winter it shall occur.

Old Jerusalem over there is an inland city with no sea frontage.

Doesn't work AC. At the time of the prophecy it was not possible to make the wilderness/desert bloom. No existing irrigation at the time of the prophecy could pump that amount of water that far so regardless of whether people tried to irrigate the desert - at the time of the writing it was impossible to do so and only unknown future change sin weather and in technology could make it happen.

Before you spout about illogic.....think. Theres is no requirement in the prophecy that the people do nothing. There are several passages that talk about jewish people returning and planting in the country so the idea that seeds had to drop out of heaven or it doesn't count is illogical.

Further studies of the historical rainfall by examining Stalagmites has confirmed scientifically that rainfall from AD 100 to the turn of the 20th century were lower for Israel so there HAS been an increase in rainfall that had nothing to do with people making it happen.

The prophecy is legit. It took increased rainfall (relative to the history of rainfall in the area) and future technologies unknown at the time of the writing for the things spoken to come to pass. Does it prove the Bible by itself? Probably not but its only one prophecy.

In addition the links and videos about drought in Israel are irrelevant and ignore yet another fact. Israel has had enough water for years to support a size population that it has never supported EVER before. There are rarely any water restrictions on Israelis and every time the levels have reached to a point where experts claim a crisis would be initiated they have risen naturally to avert any such crisis.

The video on the dead sea is just stupid. Even the video says that the water is declining because it is being used for agriculture. There is no prophecy that states that the red sea should remain the same or rise. In fact there are prophecies that indicate Sodom would be reclaimed and many people believe it is under water near the coastlind of the Dead sea which would suggest the possibility that the levels would in fact have to fall.
