Honestly I dont know. I am not an astrophysicist, and after looking at what most of them say they have no idea aswell. Im a person who reads a lot and tries to learn as best I can.

Coronal hole it seems like... This doesn't seem to be the random magnetospheric activity that actually warrants real attention. If you read about random aurora without a CME or coronal hole or geomagnetic activity, that is when you know it happened. Aurora caused by plasma not from the sun is what causes those random magnetospheric events IMO. I can't prove it because I don't have access to that kind of data, I don't know if they're even monitoring that kind of thing.

Interesting. It does look like there was a CME on the 16th on the SOHO videos. I don't know enough about them to know if it was Earth directed. Didn't NASA recently say that CME's didn't necessarily be Earth directed to be geo-effective?

If I were Japan I would be worried, these conditions are very similar to 2011.

Problem with this one it had density and we got some decent absorption,alot of this passed right on through.Either weak magnetosphere with holes, or high energy GRB(gamma ray burst). I'm not sure which one is the worst. GRBs can be immediate, weakened mag. can be a slow burn. The Bz is dropping again I hope this isn't a constant scenario for the future. You can feel the physical affects from this guy, good ground contact,which isn't good

Gotta agree with that. Shocks have been unbelievable for the past few weeks. I'm even getting shocks from water. Electricity is conducting through everything more than ever, it seems. Reminds me of a scene from the movie Melancholia, where electricity streams out of a woman's hands.
