Top Kill: Reflections of the Deepwater Horizon
Within the pages of the thread linked below, I said something like, “Even if a 1000 people are watching, surely it is enough to change the world.” Perhaps my words read as naive to some, even to myself from time to time. But, in the biggest of pictures, I know that a picture can speak a 1000 words. And I still hold, that the words on those pages speak much more than our expressions, even at that time, and probably still, can impart.

I know a couple of us that were watching the live cams of the underwater BP Oil and Methane Hydrate Disaster are still around here. For the others that are still around, this is a call out to come in and say hello to old friends, more like war buddies, that watched and typed our grief, the pain, the horror, the companionship, we witnessed and experienced. What have you been doing? How did what you watched change your life? Did it change your life?

What have I been doing? Many irons in the fire still, as is more typically than not the case for myself. I have researched much about Methane Hydrates, written a few pieces about it, proudly display my avatar, a screenshot I took while watching the live cams, and have collated many other snapshots into a photo book entitled Top Kill: Reflections of the Deepwater Horizon.

In the meantime, I am going to offer all of us some other visuals and so forth, as we seldom, if ever hear or watch, what is deemed, the mainstream media, discussing the issue anymore. Many people’s lives and communities are still affected. Many people are still speaking out and documenting what they have witnessed and experienced.

From time to time I will post some of the things I have written that were triggered from watching the live cams, in what I also denoted in the link below as, “This is that moment of synchronicity.” Perhaps time and the voices that show up within the pages of this thread, will further impart that sensation I expressed.

I’m going to start out with plugging a documentary that will be coming out in 2012. I have not found more info on the dates.

And a big shout out to Kindra Arnesen!

She has been on this since pretty much day one, making sure, through attending community meetings and documenting her experiences, that the information not get buried.

Courageous woman! Bless you, Kindra.

I love this one! Just a woman, common working person, just like the rest of us, sharing how it is in a community setting.

So none of us are just a woman or man or just other person when we utilize our eyes and voices to speak what we see.

Re: Top Kill: Reflections of the Deepwater Horizon
Text from the back cover of the snapshot book I have been putting together:

The Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill, also known as the BP Oil Disaster or Macondo Blowout, is the largest subsea oil, methane hydrate, and gas release caused by the activities of the petroleum industry. After numerous attempts to regain control of the blowout, the well was capped on July 15, 2010 after flowing unbridled for almost four months. One such attempt to contain the oil and gas was known as “Top Kill”.

In mid May 2010, almost a month after the Deepwater Horizon explosion, Senator Ed Markey pressured BP to provide live video coverage of the underwater flow of oil and gas. BP answered the demand with Markey responding, “Now anyone will be able to see the realtime effects the BP spill is having on our ocean.” Internet sites were rife with people sharing computer screenshots and video captured from the live feeds as seen through the lens of ROV cameras operated from 5000 feet above.

Top Kill: Reflections of the Deepwater Horizon depicts not only images of oil and gas raging from corroded and twisted metal pipes: It reflects a moment when a community shared a voyeuristic fixation, shock and grief, and seemingly spontaneous reaction of, “What have we done?” – a sentiment read on numerous social networking sites. Coupled with passages from the Gnostic Gospel, Pistis Sophia, the imagery imparts a deeper reflection on what takes place below the surface.

“The Story of Pistis Sophia” is Jesus’ account of his encounter with Pistis Sophia, the female divinity of gnosticism, during his descent and assent into transfiguration between the time of his earthly death and resurrection. Jesus tells his disciples, inclusive of Mary Magdalene, Martha, and his Mother Mary, the journey, oppression, and defilement Pistis Sophia endured to reclaim her higher region.

Computer screenshots were taken from May 27 to June 4, 2010 from various live-feed internet links. U.S. Representative Ed Markey (D-MA) was chair of the House Energy and Environmental Subcommittee during the 111th Congress. The gospel Pistis Sophia can be accessed from The Gnostic Society Library website.

Re: Top Kill: Reflections of the Deepwater Horizon
A context, or let’s say a footnote, I rarely frame it in:

On my knees before the great multitude of heavenly witnesses, I offer myself, soul and body to You, Eternal Spirit of God. I adore the brightness of Your purity, the unerring keenness of Your justice, and the might of Your love. You are the Strength and Light of my soul. In You I live and move and am. I desire never to grieve You by unfaithfulness to grace and I pray with all my heart to be kept from the smallest sin against You. Mercifully guard my every thought and grant that I may always watch for Your light, and listen to Your voice, and follow Your gracious inspirations. I cling to You and give myself to You and ask You, by Your compassion to watch over me in my weakness. Holding the pierced Feet of Jesus and looking at His Five Wounds, and trusting in His Precious Blood and adoring His opened Side and stricken Heart, I implore You, Adorable Spirit, Helper of my infirmity, to keep me in Your grace that I may never sin against You. Give me grace, O Holy Spirit, Spirit of the Father and the Son to say to You always and everywhere, "Speak Lord for Your servant heareth."
Quoting: Novena to the Holy Spirit for the Seven Gifts

 Quoting: A Muse Me

With gnosis of the Holy Spirit to be that of Barbelo:

O Lord Jesus Christ Who, before ascending into heaven did promise to send the Holy Spirit to finish Your work in the souls of Your Apostles and Disciples, deign to grant the same Holy Spirit to me that He may perfect in my soul, the work of Your grace and Your love. Grant me the Spirit of Wisdom that I may despise the perishable things of this world and aspire only after the things that are eternal, the Spirit of Understanding to enlighten my mind with the light of Your divine truth, the Spirit of Counsel that I may ever choose the surest way of pleasing God and gaining heaven, the Spirit of Fortitude that I may bear my cross with You and that I may overcome with courage all the obstacles that oppose my salvation, the Spirit of Knowledge that I may know God and know myself and grow perfect in the science of the Saints, the Spirit of Piety that I may find the service of God sweet and amiable, and the Spirit of Fear that I may be filled with a loving reverence towards God and may dread in any way to displease Him. Mark me, dear Lord, with the sign of Your true disciples and animate me in all things with Your Spirit.
Quoting: Prayer for the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit

 Quoting: A Muse Me

In the Apocryphon of John, a tractate in the Nag Hammadi Library containing the most extensive recounting of the Sethian creation myth, the Barbelo is described as "the first power, the glory, Barbelo, the perfect glory in the aeons, the glory of the revelation". All subsequent acts of creation within the divine sphere (save, crucially, that of the lowest aeon Sophia) occurs through her co-action with God. The text describes her thus:

This is the first thought, his image; she became the womb of everything, for it is she who is prior to them all, the Mother-Father, the first man (Anthropos), the holy Spirit, the thrice-male, the thrice-powerful, the thrice-named androgynous one, and the eternal aeon among the invisible ones, and the first to come forth.

I know its weird to say, but Im thankful for the oil spill. During the spill, I was vacationing for the summer in Santa Rosa Beach florida. The owner of the house I was renting was so freaked out over the media hype and how the beaches would be ruined forever, he wanted to sell his house. My wife and I bought that beach house. We figure the oil spill saved us well over 180K bucks.

By the way, we were there all summer, and although I was looking everyday, I only found about 20 tar balls. I still have them in a jar of water on my desk.
