Quoting: Roentgen® NK is full of a bunch of pansies... all bark no bite. for 2 generations , since 1953. WTF WTH Do you all in SK actually worry about your crazy neighbors up north? I have a friend that teaches english in a hagwon in Busan and he says no one in South Korea really gives the North any thought... kind of like they just aren't there. |

Quoting: Roentgen® NK is full of a bunch of pansies... all bark no bite. It's only 1pm - early days. I'd wait another 12 hours until all drills are over. But you are right, they are full of hot air generally. But with the new mini Kim in power, I would wait a while yet to see how he asserts his authority. |

My Korean friends told me they tell this to westerners so people won't consider them related. In reality they poop in their collective pants everytime NK makes some outrageous announcements or any incidents happen. The korea penninsula is so small if the North do anything funny, the luxurious life (rife) of the South will be put to a sudden end forever. That's why every time the north fire a blank shot toward the south, the south will buy a gazillion ton of 'engineered' beef from the US in exchange for military protection in case shit happens. ![]() |

Full blooded white american who is there teaching on an E-2 VISA... and I doubt he's going to be confused by how the South Korean people react in reference to NK aggressive comments. South Koreans are fairly straight forward with saying what they think. By "western" understanding, some of the stuff they say may be taken as "cruel" but that isn't how they mean it. i.e. if you are overweight, a Korean that doesn't even know you might tell you "you are fat, you need to lose weight." It's not an insult... in their culture it's proper to advise others on what they should do to improve ones health. I've done a great deal of research on South Korean culture because around May or so, I am planning on being one of those E-2 VISA english teachers in South Korea... but I wanted to hear from an actual Korean native as to what they think about the North Korean aggressive talk. |

Yep the culture is very different, generally people in Asia don't consider 'you look fat' an insult, probably because very few people there are in meatloaf shape anyways (except the sumo athletes). The relationship between the north and south is a complicated one. On one hand the SK people are doing all they can to show that they are not related to the 'poor maniacs'. On the other hand many of them have relatives in NK, and many of them are from NK themselves. they care a lot about the relationship, and are deeply concerned about any potential conflicts. Many feel it's like a timebomb. This is especially true in the northern cities like seoul and Incheon where my friends came from. Busan residents probably don't worry too much. ![]() |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2208185 Korea has no such weapon to sell and no means to deliver it either! Korea never proved they had the nuclear bomb. WE ARE TO TAKE THE WORD OF CIA KOREA HAS NUKES Korea No excessive radioactivity was detected in South Korea after the test, experts said. "No radioactivity has not yet been detected from the alleged nuclear test,'' said Han Seung-Jae, director of the state-run Nuclear Emergency Preparedness Departmen. "It might not be detected at all if the alleged nuclear testing was conducted in a tightly sealed atmosphere such as a deep tunnel, and all radioactive rays and fallout are contained,'' he said. North Korea's official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said the underground test was carried out safely and successfully and there was no radiation leak.
