Another step closer. Yesterday there was a story about error correction in qbits by a computer science person. A week ago there was a material science story about I/O speeds on a material the would be ideal for quantum computing.

So if you can get data to and from qbits, correct the qbits in error, and do calculations with them. You have a quantum computer.

All that's lacking is a q-bit based Operating system. If you are intelligent and want to be the next bill gates, get to it!

Can you explain a bit more? Or perhaps, what would be your wild guess to how a "q-bit based Operating system" would work or loosely what would it's architecture could maybe look like?

Calling this quantum computing is false. It works independently of quantum theory, the principal (and I can tell you this without even reading the article) is the ionization of a single atom being used to store data digitally.

Ionization is the process of converting an atom or molecule into an ion by adding or removing charged particles such as electrons .

This computer will have atoms that are ions to represent 0 and atoms that are neutral to represent 1 (or vice versa).

To call this quantum computing and to continue to insist that any type of computing is based on quantum theory is a lie. This is simple chemistry and electronics. And I don't see how this will effect the speed of the computations, maybe by shortening the distance the electronic signals have to travel, but again, calling it quantum computing is plain adulterated bullshit


What I want to see is how they are going to LINK these atoms electronically with a conductor. I'm not saying it can't be done, but I am saying this compactness of data storage is many years in the future and is much more compact than the human brain by a factor of thousands of times, or anything that exists at this time..

All these experimenters have really done is find a material that possesses single atoms that are stable ions, that ionizes and stays ionized until the charge is intentionally removed.

They have a LONG way to go before they have an operational storage media, and may never be able to accomplish it because as I said all of the atoms used to store data will need to be linked electrically and it's no piece of cake. You could end up having conductors consisting of single strands of atoms but that is a technical impossibility and it won't be 18 months, more like 20 years if at all before this can be done. What you are describing is making a computer that is thousands of times as compact as natures best design through billions of years of evolutionary development. Good luck. All we've been able to do so far is come close to the compactness of the human brain and these computers are not on the market and highly unreliable.

This is NOT a generation of computer advancement this is an experiment.

Once processing speed reaches the speed of the brain, and memory is already more efficient than our own. Combine that with qbits which have 3 quantum states on, off, and flux with classic bits on,off.

So with the qbits ON, OFF, and "I'll decide later" states. It will let computers think for themselves, like humans.

One of these quantum computers will synthesize proteins that will neutralize every foreign molecule to our bodies. Thats what supercomputers do.

But on these levels, the calculations are unimaginable. In 25 years a computer will be able to completely model a black hole event horizon in a matter of seconds.
