sooo..in other words it is a PLANNED destruction of the Oil industry in favor of biofuels and deadzones

who profits?

the BILLONAIRES

NALCO

BUFFETT

GOLDMAN SACHS

CRIME INC

ETC.

The answer is obvious people..This land is obviously extremely rich in oil, however in America we have much more stringent environmental regulations then Russia does. We are basically giving this land up to Russia so they can rape the land of its Oil and sell it back to us at a premium..WIN-WIN Right?? WRONG! We are just making the oil traders more powerful and destroying some of the most beautiful land in the process. Not only that I doubt this would really ever lower gas prices enough to make any noticeable difference anyways...Obama should know how the Axis action of appeasement went against Germany/Hitler in WW2...Very Badly!hidingabomb

Repsol well blowout still not under control
Alaska Dispatch | Feb 20, 2012

Crews are still working to control an oil and gas well in Alaska's Arctic oil fields after a blowout last week.

On Wednesday, Repsol, a Madrid-based oil major starting its first winter of exploratory drilling in Alaska, apparently hit a "shallow-gas hazard," or a pocket of high-pressure gas. No oil was spilled, workers were evacuated safely, and the rig was quickly shut down to avoid ignition.

The well ceased flowing at about 9 p.m. Thursday, but preparations to bring the well under control "are ongoing," according to the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation.

and at the same time the same Company (Repsol) is drilling in the GOM

U.S. Watches Closely As Oil Drilling Begins Off Cuba

There are big plans for oil exploration in the Caribbean, not far off the coast of Florida. A Spanish company recently began drilling in Cuban waters — just 55 miles from Key West.

The well is the first of several exploratory wells planned in Cuba and the Bahamas. The drilling has officials and researchers in Florida scrambling to make plans for how they'll respond in case of a spill.

The U.S. currently doesn't allow any drilling for oil off its Atlantic coast or in the eastern Gulf of Mexico. One reason is what's at stake. Florida's tourism-based economy depends on its beaches, fishing and clear Caribbean water.

edit to add: I think they are drilling in the GOM and NOT on the other side of Cuba as the article above states
