The Myth of the 8 hour sleep...
So the 8 hour sleep is something we force upon our children..

We often worry about people who lie awake in the middle of the night - but it could be good for you. Scientists have been saying for 20 years that the eight-hour sleep may be unnatural, and historians increasingly are backing them up.

In the early 1990s, psychiatrist Thomas Wehr conducted an experiment in which a group of people were plunged into darkness for 14 hours every day for a month.

It took some time for their sleep to regulate but by the fourth week the subjects settled into a very distinct sleeping pattern. They slept first for four hours, then woke for one or two hours before falling into a second four-hour sleep.

Though sleep scientists were impressed by the study, among the general public the idea that we must sleep for eight consecutive hours persists.

More recently, the theory that humans slept in two distinct chunks has resurfaced, but in the rather less likely field of history.

Good info!
Waking up in the middle of the night is NORMAL and not something to become upset about. Good to know.

In the Seth books by Jane Roberts, Seth says that one of the most important and simplest things you could do to further your psychic development would be to break up your sleep pattern so that you don't sleep more than four hours at a time.

He always stressed how you are just as conscious and active while you are asleep as you are while you are awake, and that the division between the two states is an artificial cultural imposition.

He said if you broke up your sleep you would start remembering your dreams more and that the information you receive while you are sleeping would be much more integrated and accessible to your waking self.

i naturally have the 2-strp sleep pattern happen to me pretty often. forget about having a day job.

sleeping for a few hours, waking up and then going back to sleep is good for getting some lucid dreaming in too.

also, it's being shown that getting little sleep - about less than 6 hours a night can lead to diabetes and other health issues.
perhaps being an expert meditater can break the effects of little sleep.

the strange thing is, when my sleep is broken up, by my daughter being ill, or our new cat being over boisterous say, both of which have happened this past few weeks, I seem to be full of get up and go the next day.

Many teens do that, I did. Also, If I felt like I was coming down with something, I'd sleep it off. Now I sleep about 6 to 7 hrs. per night. There are times I feel that I need about 9 hours. I think everyone is different and we should listen to our bodies.

This is subliminal message by the Elite to tell us that we will be mindless robots working 24/7 with little or no sleep in the coming future...

Thats what they want in their New World Order. It can only function with perpetual consumption, so people will be allowed to be awake for aslong as possible

I have a buddy who is a Ranger, and he has trained his body to sleep about 20min every 2.5 hours.

He trains gorillas in the jungle and his squad uses this technique to sleep up in the canopy and still keep point.

He continues this sleep pattern even when he is on leave.

Crazy SOB!
THINK ABOUT THIS!

The universe created life to be observed, without an observer, it never existed. So it is a mathematical proof that the universe created life.

Easy enough to hook up sensors to monitor the brain, then investigate when the greatest amount of healing or rest takes place.

I think this has been done already many, many times.

WOOOO OOW

I REMEMBER.

WE WOULD SLEEP,

THEN WAKE UP

THEN FINISH SLEEPING

EVERYONE WAS ALWAYS OUT AND ABOUT

NO ONE SLEPT THE SAME PATTERN LARGELY

EVERYONE WAS IN DIFFERENT MODES OF THOUGHT AND CREATIVITY BECAUSE OF THE CLOSENESS IN WAKING STATE OF CONSCIOUSNESS AND THE INFORMATION THAT OCCURS IN THE DREAMS.

IT IS LIKE A BREAK IN BETWEEN MEALS TO DIGEST!

BUT LONG AGO WE FORGOT THEY ARE REAL!

Yea, there's a name for that. 20 minute sleep cycles, largely lucid because of the, again, closeness between waking state and the dreams.

Although varying results.

Some people require a full 24 hour nap every couple weeks.

It is OBVIOUS THE CYCLES OF THE CALENDAR ARE NOT EQUAL TO THE ROTATIONS OF THE SUN, MOON, AND EARTH!

We are literally LOOSING SLEEP, MINUTE BY MINUTE, DAY BY DAY, the LONGER WE STICK TO THIS FAULTY SLEEP SCHEDULE.

IT literally.

JUST LIKE THE IMPROPERLY DONE 20 minute SLEEP CYCLE.

IT IS LITERALLY SETTING US UP FOR BEING DRAINED, DAYS, WEEKS, YEARS DOWN THE LINE.

As a natural night owl with creative hobbies, whenever it's possible (several times a month) i stay up til 4 or 5am (time flies) then sleep til 10 or 11 treating myself right with a healthy brunch and a favorite irish teatime and then a nice cozy siesta before a late light dinner and a midnight snack = ah, the artists life! No problem whatsoever getting my internal clock back to the weekday schedule - in fact, if (rarely) a couple weeks go by regimented in the hamster wheel without breaking it like this, then a tired robotic cranky rigid mood with muscle aches will warn me it's time for a voluntary reset before mother nature does it for me. This runs in the family - ancestors and descendants.

Re: The Myth of the 8 hour sleep...
oh yeah, I almost forgot... The All Nighter!
When what's described in the previous post doesn't end in the wee hours but continues throughout all of a long weekend, it's fabulous and invigorating so long as there isn't an overdoing of more than one or (at most) two of these a month. The trick here is some one=or=two=hours long catnaps throughout the duration, and constant hydration alongside snacks rather than 3 meals. Staying up late to meet a deadline doing paperwork or housework doesn't count as a recreational reset and isn't what I'm talking about here - This All Nighter involves comfort, freedom, and fun.

They say your body heals while you are asleep, that that's when healing take place.

Wouldn't you think the same was true for growing?

I bet your teenage sons are lying there asleep GROWING.

The kind of growth spurts I've seen in my nephews and my friend's sons must be truly, truly exhausting.

Just carrying around a sudden 10, 20, or 30 pound increase in weight is exhausting, as I know from experience. It takes a while to build the muscle to carry the extra weight - and muscle building also takes place while you are asleep.

I normally get 6 hours of sleep per night. But I never feel like I get enough sleep. On the weekends, when I'm off work the next day, I'll sleep like 10-12 hours. I love sleeping in on Saturdays. I feel like I would do much better if I could get a solid 8-9 hours per night, but that never happens.

I remember most of my dreams -- and they are pretty wild -- but I don't see how they would help me in my own life. I also wake up once in a the middle of the night, usually at the four hour mark.

A lot of the Seth Material is online, and so much of the first couple of books is directly related to how dream content is relevant.

Seth Speaks
and
The Nature of Personal Reality

are two main titles which deal a lot with dreaming and have concrete exercises for how to improve your psychic abilities and expand your view of what is possible.

I can sleep for 90 minutes and then drive 1,000 miles immediately after.

I used to worry about it, but then I realized if I wasn't tired and if I'm able to function fine, what's the problem?
