the LM partially eclipses the sun in the second photo whereas it's next to the sun but not blocking it in the first photo.

If a light source is being partially blocked, it's going to be under exposed. Why? Because less of the light source is reaching your eye / film. I pour a gallon of dirt on a carpet. That carpet is now dirty. I pour three quarts of dirt on another carpet. That is less than a gallon. I guess that carpet is still clean, eh? I swear, hoax believers can only think in binary.
