If the new bill becomes law, up to 30,000 drones could by flying in U.S. airspace by decade’s end. The Senate passed the bill by a 75-20 margin. Civil liberties groups have spoken out on the measure, stating the new legislation offers no restrictions on drone surveillance operations by police and federal agencies and could put us on track toward a “surveillance society.” |

[link to peoplesworld.org] A provision in a 2005 Customs and Border budget request to Congress stipulated that drones could be used for "interior law enforcement support," meaning they would be made available to police without scrutiny or debate, and without appropriate new laws to regulate them. The threat that police force drones could pose to undocumented citizens - particularly considering the abusive actions taken against them already in states like Arizona - is a vital issue. One recent example of drone intervention involves an incident in North Dakota last summer, when police arrested U.S. citizens with the help of a Predator spy drone. The aircraft had circled a 3,000-acre plot of land, eventually tracking down the suspects and leading to their arrest. |

A police officer, executing a search warrant issued by a judge who needs backup? Hell yes, send in an UNARMED drone to help with the search. Especially when the officer is chased off by an armed person. Also note, no one was hurt or killed in that incident. What rational person would oppose drones used in this manner? |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 11361954 United States 02/24/2012 07:55 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've already seen two UAV's over Nevada! They fly them over one of Satan's favorite places, Las Vegas, all the time! In fact, theres a military base right along the freeway north of Las Vegas where they test them! Am amazed at how many people, especially those who claim to be Christian's, live, work, and go to this evil place! Are you all so blind and deaf you don't see and hear the evil? |
