Anonymous Coward User ID: 1351486 United States 02/26/2012 10:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I don't like the invasion of privacy but as has been stated it is already there and has been for sometime. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5141990 This will cause issues for criminals or what the law deems criminals; Casey Anthony - googled neck breaking and chloroform brought up in her murder trial. My example of how this web search history can be used against you imo. Anyway... thats a total sheeple answer..One does not agree with this kind of crap just because you think they have been doing it for some time any way...whats wrong with you??? once they cross a line they just keep coming...if you people would just stop using these dumb services you would get some control back...I swear, just a bunch of hypocrites here... |
Sandi_T User ID: 1301649 United States 02/26/2012 10:36 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | what are people so freaked about their browsing history? what kind of sites are people visiting? i guess it's the porn visiters that are freaked out? other than that, what's the problem with them collecting info if you dont visit those sites? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1313077 Why do you close the door when you take a shit? What are you doing in there that you don't want anyone to know about? Everybody shits. So it can't be that. What are you hiding? i just google shopping sites, phone numbers, education sites, just sites like that. so i kind of think so what. they can see the boring sites i visit. doesn't bug me. but is there any other reason people are concerned about? like if they just visit these kinds of sites. i'm just wondering if i'm missing something i should be concerned about. Not everything is what it appears to be, is the problem. I have googled such things as "how to kill silently" and "how to break bulletproof glass". I MUST, obviously, be a terrorist! Except that I'm writing a story, and in the story, the antagonist tries to lie to the protagonist about how the person he'd killed had wounded himself on the 'glass' of a case she'd bought him to protect his valuables. The 'silent death' thing was for a story, too... Sometimes you can do things that others may find suspicious for completely legitimate reasons. I'm not even slightly a terrorist, but 'how to kill silently' and 'how to break bulletproof glass' can look suspicious if you don't know the reason for it. As a law-abiding person, I have a right to privacy. It's criminals who relinquish that right, not people who obey the laws... yet it is we whom they want to spy on anyway. A law abiding person should never be incarcerated because "your web searches looked suspicious". You haven't even been given the opportunity to give up that right, it has been taken from you and merchandized. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 11442014 NO!!! You don't get it. You do have a right to personal privacy, and you forfeit that right to privacy as soon as you use a public utility. You want to use a product or a service, you are voluntarily forfeiting your rights. The privacy policy gives you an opt out clause. Do you accept the terms of the agreement? NO! Then you can not use our product. Fuck you! I want to bang a chick! She will only do it if I use a condom. No condom, no sex. That is the agreement. I want to get a girl pregnant! She will only do it if we are legally married, and I provide financial support. That is the agreement. Wow, what an angry, small-minded individual you are. And, what is that crap you posted at the end? Your idea of an analogy?? You can't even legally kill yourself, and you are going to argue that one can sign away their basic human rights just by the use of a search engine??? Why, because it's in their business model?? LOL Look, if the government were really serving the people instead of the corporate entities, there would be simple regulations which would allow them to continue, but without interfering with individual rights. But the interests in profit mesh with the interests in control. They've gotten into bed together and we're left out in the cold. You don't see that? I'm not surprised. There's a lot lacking in the character and understanding of people today, and you're just another one of those self-centered individuals who have freely given up something they don't have the commonsense to be cognizant of, much less appreciate. |

Noof User ID: 7475727 United States 02/29/2012 11:24 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It is indeed fact that you don't need a google account to have a google account.. I just found search data that I had back in 07', which was 3 pc's in the past not to mention before i ever considered having a gmail/google account. Quoting: Noof So, what can you do in this situation? I do not have a google account, but have used google as a search engine..if I cannot log into anything, how can I get rid of it? Well, even with an account you can't even get rid of it.. it only removes them visibly to you, but it will remain in the archive. I don't advise this, but, if you created an account you would then have access to your search history. But like I said, it's kind of pointless.. |
