No job, no unemployment, soon to be homeless- why?

Bro I am in more or less the same position as you.

I have a 7 month old son, and been looking for work for years now. My main source of income right now is our family business, but I know I have to get a job abroad for the future of my family.

There is a thread here, about working in the Oil business. You're already in the US, so you have a greater chance.

I am actually a woman...even though my screen name says sir..confusing I know. I doubt I could get a job in the oil business. I also have a back injury which prevents me from getting some jobs. I would work anywhere in the US or even abroad if I could.

Unfortunately it involves killing you and everyone else, too.

Texas seems ta be the only state holding above water,we have jobs but the pay is knocked down,but cost of living isnt that high as other states.

I live in Louisiana and yes I HAVE been doing research- lots and lots of research.

I live in south dakota. I'm retired and on pension. I'm 56.
There is tons of work in north dakota, but no housing. Spring would be a good time to go and just start over. You can get a job flipping burgers for 15.00 an hour. There are real good paying jobs by the bucketful too.

That said, I have been working as a writer for the past 17 years as a hobby. I have made many good contacts.

I made a pitch for a reality TV show, to a Production Company. They liked the pitch. the first 4 letters of "reality" is REAL.

The working title of my show is "I NEED A JOB!"
The concept is to find some people all over America, and follow them as they search for a job, apply, get called in for an interview, prepare for the interview, get interviewed, and wait for the verdict.

Focus will be on the unemployed persons family life, and how much the job meand to them. We intend to present the unemployed person to America, and give America some people that the viewer can identify with.

The hope is that Americans will become emotionally invested in these peoples lives. they will love and root for some, and hate and root against others.

The best person doesn't always get the job. There may be a lousy person who just happens to prepare better, interview better, and present themselves better to the interviewer. that lousy person, that everybody in america hates, just might get the job because he was a better player.

The interviewer might not know he is hiring a guy that is just fronting, but the viewers will. Sometimes, getting the job requires cut-throat cleverness. Sometimes, you just have to look good.

We will want to talk to the interviewer and ask him or her why they chose the person they chose for the job.

Hopefully, everybody that watches the show can learn from the show, and make prospective employees better prepared, and employers a little smarter about people.

So far, I pitched, and they liked. They are in the due diligence phase. The show has a huge potential market. There are probably 100 million potential viewers that would watch the show enough to get invested in the job seekers.

I hope it goes to production. I think it would provide some great stories and introduce some common, everydsy folks to to America that we can root for. Or against.
