Re: Jesus is Our "Passover Lamb"--The Lamb Of God--and He is Alive Forevermore!
The Messiah rode into the city of Jerusalem four days before the Passover festival was to begin.

In this way He fulfilled the Law, that told the jewish people to select the Passover lamb four days in advance of the festival week.

John 12:12-15
12 The next day the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem.

13 So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!”

14 And Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, just as it is written,

15 “Fear not, daughter of Zion;
behold, your king is coming,
sitting on a donkey's colt!”

However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task
the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace. Acts 20:24

The only message which saves men is the gospel of the LAMB.
He is the one true Savior of men, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
Glory to the Lamb!

Re: Jesus is Our "Passover Lamb"--The Lamb Of God--and He is Alive Forevermore!
When I originally started this thread, it was the news about the Schmallenberg Virus that got me thinking about the Lamb of God.

This virus was and continues to cause lambs to be born with deformities that kill them after a few days.

This was the original article I posted:

Here is an update 4/3/12:
Schmallenberg virus: Eight Devon cases and three in Cornwall

What comes to my mind when I hear about the many lambs that are dying, is the One Lamb who means so much to me--and He is Alive even though many think He never existed or is dead.

I'm sorry if many of you find this offensive, but I love my Savior and am compelled to state what I've stated:

The Lamb of God is Alive Forevermore!

There are over 100 titles and names for Jesus, one of which is the sacrificial Lamb of God.

"The next day, he(John the Baptist) saw Jesus coming to him, and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!"
John 1:29

This title, Lamb of God, is the one that remains most precious to my heart.

There are ten notable passages in God's Word where the lamb is conspicuously mentioned:

1. Genesis 4--The account of Abel and his lamb

2. Genesis 22--The incident in which Abraham offers the lamb in place of Isaac.

3. Exodus 12--The Passover lamb slain on the night before the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt.

4. The Book of Leviticus--The sin-offering lamb the Israelites offered on the altar of sacrifice outside the tabernacle.

5. Isaiah 53--The suffering Lamb on whom "Jehovah laid the iniquity of us all."

6. Gospel of John 1:29-36--The Lamb is announced by John the Baptist, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!"

7. Acts 8--The incident of the Ethiopian official traveling in his chariot on the Gaza road from Jerusalem and reading about the Lamb in Isaiah 53, to whom Phillip explains that the Lamb is Jesus the Messiah.

8. 1Peter 1:18-21--The paragraph that tells that we were redeemed with the precious blood of Christ, as of a Lamb "without blemish and without spot,"

9. Revelation 5--The vision that dramatizes the enthronement of the Lamb in heaven!

10. Revelation 21 & 22--The final vision of the Apocalypse, in which the Lamb is seen reigning in the New Jerusalem, amid "the new heaven and new earth",

Our Bible is God's testimony to the Lamb, so, as a true follower of Christ, I bear witness to the Lamb of God and state:

that Jesus Christ is the One and only True Savior and redemption is found only through the Lamb!

Re: Jesus is Our "Passover Lamb"--The Lamb Of God--and He is Alive Forevermore!
We can add the seventh, then on to the 8th notable passage.

1. In the case of Abel--the lamb was offered

2. Abraham and Isaac--the lamb was provided

3. Exodus--the lamb gives protection

4. In Leviticus--the sacrificial lamb is mentioned frequently to be "without blemish"

5. In Isaiah--the prophesied Lamb is identified now as a person

6. In the gospel of John--we see it is not just any person, but the Lamb of God is Jesus as John the Baptist says:

7. In Acts 8--We see the Lamb of God further identified as the promised Christ, the Son of God and the emphasis is upon individual human salvation through the Lamb.
 Quoting: KoFFee_

For the 8th notable passage we go to 1 Peter 1: 18-21

18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

Will be back with more, have to go make a salad right now.
:jly1:
 Quoting: KoFFee_

This passage can be seen as a summary of all that was previously mentioned.

It looks both backward and forward.

It gathers up all that preceded it, but then adds a new truth.

Starting with Abel--the necessity of the Lamb for redemption.
Peter says "ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold,"--indispensable necessity is the Lamb.

Then in Abraham/Isaac passage--the provision of the Lamb.
Peter says "foreordained before the foundation of the world"--God provides.

Next we saw the emphasis of the slaying of the Lamb in the Exodus Passover passage.
We are not redeemed by our Lord's perfect life or teaching, "But with the precious blood of Christ" only.

In Leviticus was the repeated emphasis on the character of the Lamb--it must be blemishless.
Peter said "as of a lamb without blemish and without spot".
Why is the character important? The character of the Lamb gives the blood its atoning virtue.

In the fifth, sixth and seventh passage previously mentioned we found:
in Isaiah, Jehovah's Lamb is a person
in John 1 the person is identified as Jesus
and in Acts 8 Jesus the Lamb identified as the promised Christ.

All of that is here in this paragraph from Peter's pen--he tells us that the fore-ordained Lamb is our Lord Jesus Christ,
"Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you".

Now here comes the added new truth.
However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task
the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace. Acts 20:24

"This man really is the Savior of the world!" John 4:42

Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him;
and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him. So shall it be! Amen.

The Resurrection of the slain Lamb!

Peter's paragraph now includes the Resurrection of the slain Lamb--
"God.....raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory"

The resurrection of the slain Lamb was something never disclosed in Old Testament times.

That the Lamb should die is foretold again and again, but nowhere is His resurrection predicted.
However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task

Yay! for Spring vacation!

That was around the same age when a young girl was infatuated with one of my sons.

Watching young children play while waiting in line to pay my cable bill the other day, is what spurred me into thinking about America in regards to the future of our next generation. That is why I started that thread a few days ago--"All Gone to Look for America".

I was solemn that day, but much, much better now.

18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

 Quoting: KoFFee_

:emt:
The Resurrection of the slain Lamb!

Peter's paragraph now includes the Resurrection of the slain Lamb--
"God.....raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory"

The resurrection of the slain Lamb was something never disclosed in Old Testament times.

That the Lamb should die is foretold again and again, but nowhere is His resurrection predicted.
 Quoting: KoFFee_

Another observation to be made is:

As soon as Peter mentions the resurrection of the Lamb, he correlates it with hope.
God raised Him up "that your faith and hope might be in God."

All the other aspects of the Lamb and His saving work call for "faith",
but as soon as we see the resurrection of the slain Lamb,
faith becomes crowned with wonderful new hope!

Worthy is the Lamb that was slain!

So, to recap,
the emphasis in 1Peter 1:18-21 is upon redemption
through the Lamb
:lpsc:
Next, is passage 9--the enthronement of the Lamb!
Glory Hallelujah!

What Does Love Look Like?

Then I sat down a little frustrated and confused
Your fire of life comes down to love. And love has to be more than sentiment,
More than selfishness and selfish gain

Then I saw Him there
Hanging on a tree, looking at me
I saw Him there
Hanging on a tree, looking at me
He was looking at me looking at Him, staring through me
I could not escape those beautiful eyes
And I began to weep and weep

He had arms wide open, heart exposed
Arms wide open, He was bleeding, bleeding.
Arms wide open, heart exposed
Arms wide open, He was bleeding, bleeding
Loves definition
Loves definition, was looking at me
Looking at Him. Hanging on a tree
I began to weep and weep and weep and weep
This is how I know what love is.

Christ is the central figure of biblical revelation--the cross is the central factor.

Our Bible is distinctively and preeminently the book of salvation from sin.

The ninth passage is next and will continue to show the progressive unfolding of biblical disclosure concerning the Lamb.
