Probably perturbations in our consciousness from the lower order of our brains. Like the place where the involuntary stuff is, tied into some serious shit. Like the reward system our body has, serious shit not to be fucked with.

Some of these perturbations can express themselves in ways that are likely shunned in our society.

Also, one could to take into account our tendency to project our inner struggles on to the outer world, to have a safe place to work on it (like on a forum).
