nah i think its just me and red bull prompting people to come up with a year coz everyone kept saying they had memories of mandela's death but noone ever came up with a year. so i kept posting and it was getting bumped. my bad.

I remember when i was in my early teens a movie came out.. a year later the same movie came out under a different title. I was sure it was because it didn't make as much as they put into it as the reasoning for the re-release.

Now recently the latest Denzel Washington movie i could have sworn was not entitled "something caged" or some stupid name (as i felt it was something different and now it seems "correct" again entitled "Safe House".

At least now we know he did not die in prison. He is famous for a reason. A few posts back i stated i do not know the cause of his fame, still don't know exactly why other than that which comes along with being a president. So Mandela was at least a president in either timeline otherwise, as you stated, just another black guy who died in prison (unless why he ended up there is a bit more unusual). PERHAPS he was president and THEN sent to prison? That sounds more like sense to me and that is where the other timeline people are coming from (maybe it's where i am from) although Mandela is still alive now so to one and all, welcome to the timeline!

Nelson Mandela was dead. It only takes 20 years to clone him into a full man, then age him in pickle juice.

Every time one of these "dead" people pop up, it really really screws with my head (to put it politely.)

Maybe not in Germany he didnt, or on your timeline, but he certainly was dead here.

oh and also im pretty sure that benny hinn televangelist guy died a couple of years ago in a car accident but in this timeline i think hes still alive.. tell you much about this timeline?? welcome to hell!!

TO ALL THE NAYSAYERS:

I think the point that people are making here is not that EVERYONE should remember that he died, because obviously for a lot of people he DIDN'T die in the 80's.

What we are puzzling over is the following:

1) The fact that a SUBSTANTIAL NUMBER OF PEOPLE recall his untimely death.

2) The fact that it SEEMS we all learned about it from different sources -- different types of media coverage, as opposed to ONE erroneous broadcast that EVERYONE was fooled by.

3) The fact that some of us remember having conversations or interactions with other people around the time of his death which confirmed that he was dead -- i.e., we knew people personally who also perceived that Nelson Mandela had died.


If it were only one or two people who were under the impression that he had died, I would happy to write it off as some kind of misunderstanding or perhaps a mistake made by the media in reporting some news at some point. HOWEVER, it is the vast quantity of people who clearly remember hearing news of his death, and their different-yet-compatible stories, which perplexes me to no end.


Regarding John Goodman -- I thought he died too. When I found out he was still alive I assumed I had confused him with John Candy since they have obesity and a first name in common. I'm not really sure what to make of that one.

I was gonna say, maybe you're thinking of John Candy but then I remembered reading John Goodman had died of either a stroke or something heart-related. I recall that I felt saddened, because I enjoyed his acting. So he's still alive!?!?!?

I'm 34 and this thread is truly wigging me out because I remember Mandela died when I was a child and hearing about it on TV and the news for a little while.
I remember Billy Graham dying in the 90s or early 00s.
I remember the horror I felt as I watched a video of the Tianmen Square student being crushed to death by that tank, and reflecting on the cruel nature of human beings.

I've always told myself maybe I was confusing thse events but many of you echo my exact memories. What the fuck?

Yes, please stop harassing her. She's not hiding anything from you all, she's creeped out that so many strangers are approaching and harassing her about an unimportant event (in her perception) that happened many years ago. Esp if some of you AC's are weirdos.

If you are talking about the tsunami in Thailand, that happened Dec. 24 2004!

I was going to say something similar, my father died in June 2004 and in September I broke my femur and was laid up on the couch watching Band of Brothers when i heard about the tsunami! So I distinctly remember the event!

I was just talking about this on another forum, my mom was on home dialysis since 2005, she got really "sick" two weeks ago so I took her to the hospital, well I found out that home or Peritoneal Dialysis only works for so long before it won't work anymore, so now she has to go to a clinic three times a week, OBL has been on Dialysis since the 90's, so unless they had a clinic near his cave in Afghanistan, he died a long time ago!
