86 is the closet thing we have with the guy harrassing facebook chick. lol. actually he hasnt replied to me whether he is 32 this year or 33 this year. he just said he was 32 and it happened in grade 2.

i am 32 and 33 in june so if he is same as me then 86 is grade 2. if he is already 32 this year then its 87 i guess.

if we get more years correlating then we can join dots - like bulla.

I'm about to turn 29 but what I saw on TV about Mandela's death wasn't news coverage -- more of a biopic/documentary retrospective thing. If I had to guess how old I was when I saw it, I would say 6 or 7. So, late 80's for me.

I vividly remember being taught in history class that Alexander Hamilton killed Aaron Burr. I was sitting at my dad's house aa few years back watching some trivia game show with him when a question came up about who won the duel. We both immediately said Hamilton and were very confused as to how that could have been the wrong answer.

Anyone else remember it that way?

Another one happened to me more recently, but is pretty mundane. I was heading to work the same way I have gone for the past couple of years and there was a church in plain view of the highway that I had never seen before. It was like it popped into existence out of nowhere. It's impossible to miss it from the highway, and it's not a new building. No way to miss it. I go by the spot at least twice a day.

Re: ---- ALTERNATE TIMELINE ---- How the hell is Nelson Mandela still alive????
For what it's worth, here is how I remember it...
I went to S.A. twice with a touring youth performance group. First time, in the spring of 1997 (fall in the southern hemisphere) I was 11. They made us study up on the country and Mandela before going. He was not president at the time, his presidency started in 1990 and ended in 1994. Wiki says his presidency was 94-99..? I also remember how old he seemed at the time (15 years ago), born in 1908. Wiki says he was born 1918.
Anyway, flash forward summer 2002.
I go back with the group and we hear rumors that Mandela is to attend our performance in Cape Town. Problem is, the day before, he collapses while touring his old prison. He ends up in a hospital bed. Two to three weeks later, I'm back in the US, and there are news reports of his death. Stroke maybe?

Highlights from my youth, yet these specific memories are fuzzy, almost tampered with...

I'm good with who's who and what's up, but I always have had trouble remembering whats up with Mandela.

Jus sayin

On my timeline, Hamilton killed Burr but was wounded in the duel. Thats what I learned in grade school anyway.

WTF

I just checked wikipedia and this came up:

Burr–Hamilton duel

Hamilton fighting his fatal duel with Vice President Aaron Burr (the depiction is inaccurate: only the two "seconds" actually witnessed the duel)

Hamilton's tomb in the graveyard of Trinity Church at Wall Street and Broadway in Lower Manhattan
Main article: Burr-Hamilton duel

Soon after the 1804 gubernatorial election in New York—in which Morgan Lewis, greatly assisted by Hamilton, defeated Aaron Burr—the Albany Register published Charles D. Cooper's letters, citing Hamilton's opposition to Burr and alleging that Hamilton had expressed "a still more despicable opinion" of the Vice President at an upstate New York dinner party.[82][83] Burr, sensing an attack on his honor, and surely still stung by his political defeat, demanded an apology. Hamilton refused because he could not recall the instance.

Following an exchange of three testy letters, and despite attempts of friends to avert a confrontation, a duel was scheduled for July 11, 1804, along the west bank of the Hudson River on a rocky ledge in Weehawken, New Jersey. This was the same dueling site at which Hamilton's eldest son, Philip, had been killed three years earlier.

At dawn, the duel began, and Vice President Aaron Burr shot Hamilton. Hamilton's shot broke a tree branch directly above Burr's head. A letter that he wrote the night before the duel states, "I have resolved, if our interview [duel] is conducted in the usual manner, and it pleases God to give me the opportunity, to reserve and throw away my first fire, and I have thoughts even of reserving my second fire", thus asserting an intention to miss Burr. The circumstances of the duel, and Hamilton's actual intentions, are still disputed. Neither of the seconds, Pendleton or Van Ness, could determine who fired first. Soon after, they measured and triangulated the shooting, but could not determine from which angle Hamilton fired. Burr's shot, however, hit Hamilton in the lower abdomen above the right hip. The bullet ricocheted off Hamilton's second or third false rib, fracturing it and caused considerable damage to his internal organs, particularly his liver and diaphragm before becoming lodged in his first or second lumbar vertebra. Chernow considers the circumstances to indicate that Burr fired second, after having taken deliberate aim.

If a duelist decided not to aim at his opponent there was a well-known procedure, available to everyone involved, for doing so. According to Freeman, Hamilton apparently did not follow this procedure; if he had, Burr might have followed suit, and Hamilton's death might have been avoided. It was a matter of honor among gentlemen to follow these rules. Because of the high incidence of septicemia and death resulting from torso wounds, a high percentage of duels employed this procedure of throwing away fire.[82] Years later, when told that Hamilton may have misled him at the duel, the ever-laconic Burr replied, "Contemptible, if true."[84]

The paralyzed Hamilton, who knew himself to be mortally wounded, was ferried back to New York[85]and taken to the Greenwich Village home of his friend William Bayard Jr., who had been waiting on the dock. After final visits from his family and friends and considerable suffering, Hamilton died on the following afternoon, July 12, 1804 at Bayard's home at what is now 80–82 Jane Street.[86]Gouverneur Morris, a political ally of Hamilton's, gave the eulogy at his funeral and secretly established a fund to support his widow and children. Hamilton was buried in the Trinity Churchyard Cemetery in Manhattan

I was born in 83 and I don't remember any coverage on the death about Nelson Mandela. To be honest I didn't even know much about him until I was older.

I visited a page about alternate timeline since I found this topic very interesting. The page mentioned that some people remember Billy Graham dying in 2011.

I don't recall if it was Billy Graham, but I am 100% sure I remember hearing that a televangelist passed away last year. I specifically remember this because he was controversial and I recall thinking to myself whether he went to heaven.

Does anyone remember who this televangelist was?

Actually I think I solved this mystery. It appears the media mistakenly reported that he died, so they probably went on and on about the mistake and I remember it incorrectly.

Perhaps there was a similar incident back the the 80's with Mandela??

Re: ---- ALTERNATE TIMELINE ---- How the hell is Nelson Mandela still alive????
I remember being fairly young (early to mid teens maybe so late 70's early 80's?) and seeing stuff on TV about it. I remember seeing crowds of people in S Africa and the name Nelson Mandela being said but at the time didn't really know WHO he was. Maybe it was his release from prison that I am remembering but honestly I remember several years ago, when he was suddenly back in the news, thinking, "I thought he was dead. I must have misunderstood."

OK, wasn't his release from prison because that happened in 1990 and I was an adult by then.

So strange.

if there were solid enough links to an event in people's minds, then a year should be able to be traced. for example, music. what was the number one song at the time? what smells can you remember? anyone remember?

i know certain songs in my graduation year of high school and again first year uni. for instance i know the cardigan's 'love fool' was a huge song late 1996/97 - my first year of uni. come on people, lets come up with a year!!!

and if many people give different years then its even more of a mindfuck (or not..)

I usually call these timeline post as BS, BUT I clearly remember him dying in 96 and his wife Winnie taking over the presidency. It was all over the news at the time. They showed him in the hospital waving from the window and he died shortly after.

I also noticed someone else mentioned Ernest Borgnine, I too recall clearly his death (McHale's Navy was one of my favorite shows). They did a show honoring him where Tim Conway was interviewed at length.

I am a bit embarrassed to post this as I am considered very rational as well as of high intellect.....

So at this point it's pretty obvious that there are a TON of people who remember him dying.

Pretty weird. Can anyone come up with a decent non-timeline-related explanation? If it were erroneous reporting it would have been on a massive scale... and I can't really see that happening. Not to the point where this many people would have such elaborate memories about the whole thing.

I had the same experience with actor Brian Dennehy where I was sure I watched a news report saying he died several years ago then a year or so later I was qute surprised when his next movie was released and he was alive and kicking.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9102908

Same here..I just did that the other day. I had to see if he was not dead because I had heard and saw that he died. Why are we remembering. Just like the movie Dark city,,Nobody
 Quoting: Nobody 1305840

Me and my husband also remember Brian Dennehy dying and it being reported. When I read this last night I asked him if he remembered us talking about Dennehy dying a couple of years ago and he said "yes" because he was one of my husband's favorite actors. We discussed it when he died that it was a loss of a great talent. When I told him that he wasn't dead...he looked at me and said "what do you mean he's not dead?"...I said, look on the internet and see that all things show him still alive. He looked around on Wiki and googled his name and just looked at me weird and said "what the fu@k?"...

We BOTH remember it distinctly discussing his death a couple of years ago.

This is just too much....

I do not have the Mandella memory, but I have shared memory experience with others that are supposedly incorrect. I am part of the group who have the very vivid Billy Graham memory.

This topis is fascinating, regardless of if it is physical brain activity or metaphysical.

The topic gets even more fascinating when you study the theories of quantum physics. There is a theory called something like the "many worlds" theory. The theory makes them really wonder if when you have a situation like, "if I would have pulled into traffic a second earlier, I would be dead", that their is a world where you did pull into traffic.

And like branches on a tree or veins in your body, these pathways are all connected at the points of separation.

That is why some meta-physical people wonder if prayer and use of spiritual tone frequencies, in regards to spontaneous healing involve these pathways. Basically, people leaving the path that is about to go off the cliff, and shifting to the practically identical path that doesn't go off the cliff.

I think this all ties into "laws of attraction" and what not.

The discussions on this site show that most of us are willing to challenge reality. Such a mind set would make us more likely to have positioned ourselves to make these jumps and notice the difference. Think about it, you bring it up to someone who has always been on this timeline we have jumped to and has never questions reality, they would not notice the change.

What scares me about all of us is that we are not empowering ourselves with this possible gift. We think negatively and have great fear. Which is a perfect mix to bring about all the terrible outcomes we imagine are possible.

I have come to believe their is a lot of spiritual value to the FDR quote, "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself".

Is fear our bondage? I mean think about it...if everyone started to have the courage to say stuff like, "hey, there is empirical evidence regarding flouride dumbing us and killing us". If we start to have the courage to tell people who try to debunk empirical evidence that they are frauds, because they ask for scientific proof and we have it.

Some of you have shared a unique journey through space and time with me. The rest of you have seemingly met us on this current path as well. We have learned we can experience different realities. Lets escape together to one where the bad guys lose :-)

I'm glad we're not the only ones.
That's exactly what my father and I remember.
This deserves its own thread, if only to see how many others here remember it this way.
Thanks for chiming in.
