for the record i am a mac geek but im always interested in the latest operating systems...

It sucks, it didn't recognize my external drives data. Asked me if i wanted to format them, I said "Hell No!" and re-installed XP.

im just going to run it in a virtual machine to test it out

i would never install a pre-release OS on the actual drive

well it's a BETA you idiot... it's not going to have drivers for every damn thing out there.

Windows 8 will be garbage like windows me, and vista. Stay away from this crap. It might be good in a tablet, but stay away from in on the PC. We don't need a f*ckin new desktop OS, greedy sob's. Windows XP and 7 is fine. GREEDY Micro$ft

ditto... but I have one windows laptop I keep for those events when I have to have windows... so I figured I'd try this Win 8 deal and see what's up.

if it catches on i bet we will see more and cheaper touchscreens for desktops and laptops - not just tablets

I won $500 in a bet.

I bet my girlfriend that by installing the Windows 8 beta consumer preview ALONGSIDE windows 7 and Ubuntu dual boot set-up - that is would 100% destroy the machine.

Its a beta - so Microsoft takes no responsibility etc etc as to the consequences of installing the beta.

The machine is GESCHTONKELFLOPPED.

But Microsoft wins! B/c now I have to go out and purchase a new machine....
