Because we've only had electricity and massive grid infrastructure since the last 100-120 years or so. Carrington event was 150.

The best part is, how would you tell if the sun regularly (on its billions of years cycle) fires out EM pulses/interference with any regularity. There would be no way to know if we experienced something that would destroy our modern technology before there was modern technology.

That's why people saying this can't happen are wrong. And why the sun falls number two on my "actual likely doomsday" list, the only thing that beats it is economic collapse based on our inability to run anything right.

I think what he's saying is he didn't see a solar flare coming from it in the video and neither did I. I saw a filament collapse and little brightening, but THIS WAS not synchronized with the m3 x ray solar flux reading. so it's moot point. The Sunspot is too far north of the suns equator to ever be very noneffective and if the pattern holds it will fade as it comes into view. Not saying it could be a problem, just saying i was monitoring the images during the event and there was NO solar flare viable.

The video you posted is nice and all, but useless and misleading.

This is a very minor sunspot in an area on the Suns surface known to produce loosely organized magnetic fields, it won't do much in the x ray flux or CME. The last time around the same spot produced a few m class flares that were minor, faded as it became geoeffective.

Are you meaning to state a CME wasn`t associated with the flare, because there was no doubt a M3 flare with it..Too far north of the equator??? LOL...That is a non-issue with a Halo CME...Not to mention the view you see is the view of the GOES satellite...Earth is positioned a touch north of the equator plane from my understanding.....

Flares and CME`s are two different events...

But---you will be watching it won`t ya?? lol...
