Henryvill, IN wiped off the fuck'n map! Squish count 29 across several states...

Moron, Henryville was NOT wiped off the map.

That's the terminology used last night on local and even AP news...There's a bunch of small towns all around there that were severely damaged too, all the schools in Henryville are destroyed.

Yup--bad deal man...It appears we are in for another mean tornado season...already ahead of last years record breaking tornadoes at this point and time...I read on CNN that some kids were trapped in some schools yesterday..IF AT ALL possible always try to get your kids out of school if a twister is heading your way...Cinder blocks just don`t cut it for tornado protection

Yup, my son has played football against Henryville, and there were kids trapped inside the highschool...all the schools are gone now though...guess they'll have to transfer to some surrounding schools.

Seriously, I hope people are OK. As long as you and your family and loved ones are OK, that's all that matters. Stuff lost can be rebuilt and replaced.

Yup, we were just talking about that...their biggest concern was how much the insurance would pay for a hotel if our house was destroyed, LOL...my other home is 120 miles away so getting them to school would suck, we'd have to camp out in a Holiday Inn I guess :)

For those of you that don't like the term "squish count" what would you prefer that describes how people die when heavy shit falls on them?

I got home late yesterday and wasn't aware of all the devastation and destruction until later on in the evening. I basically kept my TV on early into the morning.

A newscaster said "a month of tornadoes in one day"! And this is just the beginning of March!

We had some howling, destructive winds here in Michigan, took out some electricity for about 70 thousand people.

Those strong gusts wreak havoc on the old trees and knock them down. I wonder what lies ahead?!?

Couple years ago we had flat line winds at 150 MPH and the neighbors tree took out my privacy fence...the power was out for 100's of thousands of homes for weeks, trees were down everywhere...luckily I have solar power so we were fine :)

Last year we had again flat line winds and it devastated downtown where I live...this year is starting out with a bang, but most all the weak trees have already been wiped out...I hope...tornadoes don't touchdown right here because we are protected by the hills, but ya never know.

I just saw the devastation on the news... :(

News said a half mile wide but I didn't hear what category...it demolished their high school, every kids dream, and took the top floor off the middle school...heavy duty brick buildings, so it was pretty damn strong...I did hear a report of 160 mph winds at one point.

WTF are you even questioning people on this thread. this was a horrid thing that has happened and all you senseless people can do is fight over spelling? you should be ashamed of youselfs. this should be a time of morning and resect for those in these areas!!!!!!!!!
this could have been anywhere in the east yesterday. this could have been my city or our town. I ilive in NYC been here for over 20yr. for 17 i never thought about tornados like i did where i grew up (tornado alley IL). now they happen yearly.

wake up people. turn your talk to how and why anf what to do to help these areas and make our communities safer for the next round....which as i see it will be soon!

when i was 13 years my shool was hit by a freak tornado from the south. in my town they almost alway came from the west or north.
we had a floor to ceiling glass window on the south side hallway. they would make all the kids line up in the hallway and cover our heads. this did not work so well that day.
i was a lucky, i had PE and we went down into the locker room. we were all ok.
no kids died that day but many were cut bad and changed for life.

the school does not have a large glass wall anymore...they learned.
please keep these people and all their families in your thoughts!

Well, all roads leading into Henryville are closed...I was even going to volunteer to help remove debris...have a large truck and trailer...I'll call the police or national guard tomorrow to see if it's possible.
