Quoting: NiNzrez no it came from sunspot region 1429 as anyone can see here [link to lasp.colorado.edu] or here [link to sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov] i would upload the image as smilies for everyone to see but im tracking down data on the CME also, the "killshot" everyone talks about... that comes for a dead on CME not a solar flare First off, most x flares have resultant cme's and the proton flux confirms this one did too. I am not convinced the tiny visible flare from this insignificant sunspot group in your link is the source of this level of radiation, the Cme looks like it originates 10 degrees north of 1429 and behind the limb of the sun. Remember , we had an m 3 yesterday and no one has really figured out where it actually cam from yet, but is seems to be the same location. ONE MORE TIME, 1429 did not and is not capable of producing this amount of radiation and velocity of proton emissions.: [link to sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov] This tiny sunspot group is not capable of producing this level of x radiation, nor the velocity of proton emissions measured. I have been studying this for 12 years now, and you can believe it when i tell you either data is being covered up or something very unusual is going on. Here is video of 1429 around the time of the flare.. end time is 03:28 UTC [link to www.youtube.com] Lasco C2 images indicates the flare launched prior to that (03:12) Space weather says it peaked at 0413 UTC Thaw WAS NOT and x1.1 solar x ray flare, PERIOD I agree.. it sure doesn't look like any X-flare I've ever seen which is why it took me so long to post it it didn't make any sense |

At we orbit the sun we will eventually reach a position where these events are far more geo effective. It has to do with what direction the Sn is traveling into the galactic plane, right now the backside is on the leading edge of it;s movement through the plasma cloud. This CME came from 10 degrees north of 1429 and behind the limb of the sun and IS NOT associated with susnpot 1429, which given the proton velocity and x ray readings is quite concerning. |
